soulcastJam he/him Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I think Kaladin comes across boredom Spren while in his cell. What's more, the spren appear to be doing cats cradle. 4
Nashan’Elin he/him Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I personally thought those were the captivityspren that Axies the Collector mention that he's searching for. They could be boredom, though. Good thought! 4
Blightsong he/him Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I think captivity spren is the best guess. He seemed less bored and more like a caged animal.
natalie.perkins she/her Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Though I do quite enjoy the idea of boredom spren who sit and play cats cradle and if that's not a thing, it should be.
soulcastJam he/him Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 You're probably right about it being captivity spren. He just seemed particularly bored at this point in being imprisoned - less caged animal and more mindless tedium. 1
natc Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Maybe captivityspren actually need you to be bored to show up? Axies spent his imprisonment looking for them and all, he's clearly preoccupied. 1
Argel he/him Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Or being resigned to the imprisonment (i.e. really accepting it vs. railing against it). Also, it could be more about killing time while waiting to be released (i.e. when time is served).

Delightful Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Awkward if you're in the middle of class, or an important meeting or something and boredom spren pop up and start gathering around you. 3
Rasarr she/her Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Or worse... On a date. And now we know at least part of the reason behind Adolin's poor luck with ladies... 7
Alfa he/him Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 It's not exactly related, but... honestly, how do they play poker or something alike in Roshar? When somebody has fearspren or "bluffspren" around, you probably shall call him bluff.
Eki Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) There have been several instances of people bluffing others in the books (the boot incident, everything about Sadeas), and no spren showed up. I think it's possible to suppress emotional spren in the same way you can hide normal visual cues, just harder. In fact, it's possible to "fake" spren by thinking of other things, which is a whole new level of mindgames. Edited May 28, 2016 by Eki 1
Charlie.x.3000 Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 Didn't Shallan talk about how she managed to get anger spren to pop up when she was pretending to be a Herdazian lady?
Eki Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 Didn't Shallan talk about how she managed to get anger spren to pop up when she was pretending to be a Herdazian lady? It was the other woman who produced the spren, but yeah, that was what I was thinking about.
hoidhunter he/him Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 At the risk of being crude...do you think most Rosharian women are good at faking passion spren...wink wink...
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I think they might appear for the men then the ladies call dibs haha 1
