Popular Post PallonianFire
I decided to take things a step further at JordanCon this past weekend and directly ask Brandon if Threnody is named in memorial of a Shard. He wrote "A little bit, kind of, not completely." in my book, and continued on to say that it's "more kind of than not completely." What this means is of course up for interpretation (I'm choosing to interpret it as meaning I'm on the right track), but the big thing followed. I told him my theory about the fourth splintered Shard being Threnody and the people who were around for that moved to Threnody the world and named it. He got a grin and told me to read the Khriss introduction to Arcanum Unbounded. You guys. There's gonna be a Khriss intro. AHHHHHHH.
Nashan’Elin
Khriss intro? If I wasn't on iPad, there would be a Shut Up and Take My Spheres! Picture.
PallonianFire
Right?? Out of everything that happened this weekend, this is one of the top 3 most exciting, IMO.
Vissy
He tells us to read that, when it won't be coming out for at least a year! Yey! But, moderately hyped. I'm not too caught up on the Ars Arcanum stuff so I'm not super-excited about Khriss. Hell, I don't even know who she is, apart from the fact that she writes the Arcanum.' I am, however, majorly excited for the Stormlight novella. Edited April 27, 2016 by Varangian
PallonianFire
I LOVE Khriss. She's my kind of woman haha. You'll see a lot more of her in White Sand (and she shows up in both BoM and Secret History, so you can get a good feel for what she's like). And yes, Lift novella FTW. But at this point, I'm more excited for the starmap and the introduction.

I really look forward to anything that can help me visualize the cosmere concepts. For example I'm super hoping for some shadesmar sketches in Oathbringer. Pagerunner
Amazon says November 8th for Arcanum release. We'll see what they give us as previews before then... we might be lucky enough to get the introduction, so we'd be able to get the Khriss piece even sooner. PallonianFire
Amazon says November 8th for Arcanum release. I'm interested to see if this ends up accurate. I have a friend who works at the indie bookstore here in town, and she said they just put in a signing bid for his tour in October for AU. I can't see a signing tour happening before the book gets released.
Argent
I can't even, guys. The Cosmere epic is slooowly coming together and I just about lose it whenever one of the cogwheels turns even a little bit.

Pagerunner
Here's the quote in question: Q: Will we ever see the entire map of how the different planets are spaced out in… A: Oh, yeah, the Cosmere collection will have a star chart of the Cosmere. Somebody: A Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Cosmere, if you will… A: Now, you’ve got to remember that at the point that this comes out… the collection’s been interesting for a couple of reasons. For one reason, the collection’s coming out before Sixth of the Dusk happens in the Cosmere, right. And so Khriss gives an introduction to each world, so you’ll find her introduction to First of the Sun to be a very interesting introduction that doesn’t know things that you know because of that. In addition, the star chart is a star chart created by people who are not spacefaring. And so it is a star chart more along the lines of… it may not be one hundred percent the scale and things like that, like they’ve been able to figure out a lot of things by using the Cognitive Realm, so they’d be like “alright, here’s the relationship”, but it will be a while before you get what feels like a Star Trek star chart. Your star chart you’re gonna get in this is a fantasy star chart, which will give you the relative positions and things like that, but it’s not gonna be like you can measure exactly, which we do have! But I’m not gonna be giving you that. [audience laughs] So, it looks like it will be closer to an overall Shadesmar map. Which is just as good, in my mind.
What's a Seawolf?
What's the Lift Novella mentioned above?
PallonianFire
Yeah, I was at the Q&A (I was the guy who asked about fixing Spirit Webs to break Nahel bonds and the Ire/Fortune question). Still a starmap, in the loosest sense of the word. A map of the Cosmere, at least. And now that I'm going back through the transcription of the Q&A, I notice that he mentions Khriss' intros there, too. Looks like she's doing one for each story!
Pagerunner
Brandon first mentioned the Lift novella in his email newsletter, IIRC. He wanted the short story collection to have at least one piece of new fiction, and since SA3 is still a year or so out, he felt a story set on Roshar would be good for the Stormlight fans keep us interested. There's also the possibility of a Lopen story (if he finds time to write it; personally, I'd rather he spent the time working on SA3 directly).
Argel
Well, I wouldn't mind two new short stories for Arcanum Unbound. It will take the sting off of buying the same stories over again.
PallonianFire
Yeah, getting the Lift novella (plus the Khriss intros and the starmap*) will probably be worth the price of admission. I'm also intrigued by Hope of Elantris. I know it's available on his site, but for some dumb reason I can't make myself read it online. Maybe having it in print and actually in my hands will do the trick.
Argel
I'll be buying it regardless, but still, a couple new short stories will be much nicer than just one. Though the additional stuff is nice too. By the way, does anyone know if the short stories included with the MAG will be included? I have them already, but it wold be nice in ebook format and to have them all in one place.
