Hrathen's a very interesting person to read and has a good character arc. But there's also...

Nalizar. I'm really curious about exactly what is going on. Every time I read the ending there, I come up with a different theory as as to why chalklings are in a war with the humans, because it seems like they don't have any reason.

Also, Hrathen autocorrects to Heathen, which I find a touch odd.

Uh, tough one. I am partial to Taravangian - villains with a strong argument for doing the right thing work well for me.

I'd agree with Curiosity's spoilered-out villain, likely because their mind view is just so strange, and I simply have no idea what their deal is and where did they even come from. I do love me some villains full of mysteries.  *still hopes for the next book in the series*

From other works, Amaram? He's lovingly hateable, and I'm also curious about Sons of Honor and what Kaladin will eventually do to him. Also Shan Elariel (Elend's first fiancée from Final Empire, tried to murder him), who was there for very short time, but was awesome while she lasted.

Thinking about it, Sanderson's antagonists are one of his weak points.

Thank being said, I like Nalizar and Taravangian.

I, in a way, like Sadeas, because he is sort of a "honest villain".

Hmmmm Id have to say Denth just because of the way he was revealed as a Villain and how unapologetic he is about it.

Taravangian is pretty awesome as well even though I'm not sure if I can call him a "villain" yet even though he does some pretty messed up stuff...

Well, Taravangian does do some stuff in direct opposition to Our Heroes (particularly Dalinar). While that may not necessarily qualify him as a villain, it certainly qualifies him as an antagonist.

Szeth. His view of the world is interesting.

Ending of WoR: Szeth gets nightblood. The most badchull beings in the cosmere meet up.

Hrathen all the way!

I just love sympathetic villains.

Also, I liked how he was a very logical man going through an emotional (or spiritual) crisis. It made him change and think in ways he never did before.

I like the concept of Ruin. The embodiment of entropy.

I also like Taravangian, mostly because his condition is fascinating.

Is the Stick a villain? I mean, don't get me wrong, the Stick is a good Stick, but in the one scene where we see it, it technically almost let Shallan die from cold (or perhaps saved her life, since one Stick completely turned into fire all at once would probably cause an explosion).

The Stick is actually a Splinter of Odium. Proof:

  • On Brandon's website there's a deleted Stick interlude that gives no worldbuilding or plot info, obviously serving to introduce us to a character who would become important later. It was removed because he decided it was giving away too much.
  • Odium and Stick both oppose the Knights Radiant, and I doubt either of them are able to be soulcasted into anything (we don't have confirmation for Odium not being soulcastable however- perhaps Odium is actually a Splinter of Stick?)
  • Odium refuses to take other shards because it would corrupt his pure hatred. Stick refuses to become fire because it would corrupt his pure Stick-ness.

tl;dr The stick is the greatest villain the Cosmere has even known, Odium may be his splinter, and I strongly suspect Stormlight 6-10 and possibly Space Mistborn will deal with his rise to power and the conflict against him.

Guys. Everybody knows, well okay, it's my opinion, but almost everybody agrees (i speak of the voices in my head) that the Lord Ruler is the Best Lillian In The Cosmere. And stick

How could I have been so blind? The Stick- it IS the greatest villain in the Cosmere!

Obliteration. Straight up.

Obliteration is definitely one of my top Sanderson villains...Although I don't hate him the way I hate Sadeas and Amaram. Those two are just cremholes, but Obliteration is kind of charismatic in a creepy way.

Obliteration. The audiobook version straight up sent chills down my spine. Venli, Eshonai's sister from Stormlight, is a horrifying bitch. Hrathen is sympathetic and agreeable, I don't count him as a villain. Sadeas is probably my favorite "real" villain, he's just a really horrible person who ought to be hated. Kelsier is a villain too, in a sense, so he's probably my favourite one out of all if he's counted. Uh, then... hm... Denth. Denth is a nice guy, smart and charismatic (but then ended up dying in a most idiotic manner).

Ooooooh I second this! Taravangian is really unique and I love the way he's playing the long game. It's like Sanderson is trying to keep us preoccupied with what the "main characters" are doing to distract us from Taravangian's awesome plots.
