You ever eat your own cooking and go "Storms, I'm good at this"?

I did that tonight.

I've actually ended up being pretty much the go to cook in the family as I've been discovered to be good at it. I should have never made my wife that beef stroganoff...

Mmmm, beef stroganoff. ^_^ Tonight it was chicken, mashed potatoes, and maple carrots. I was quite pleased with the result.

Assuming I can get Windows 10 to !@#$@! cooperate in that time frame, yes!

Cool. I'll pm you.

So this is one of my math problems from algebra:

Angela takes home $6,000 per month from her job at doughnut tycoon. She spends 15% on rent and $100 on utilities. Of the remainder, she spends 10% on health insurance. (You can't be too careful when you eat doughnuts every day.) Then she spends 2/9 of what's left on food other than doughnuts. One seventh of the resulting remainder goes to fuel and expenses for her Porsche. (A tycoon needs to drive in style.) She spends 1/5 of the remainder on disco outfits and half of what's left on entertainment (mostly discotheques.) How much can she save each month towards the takeover of the strudel industry?

Isn't it just great?

Edit:

Okay. Guys.

My brother is currently in college and looking at cars, right? Well, now he's thinking about getting this one car.

It's a Chevy Impala.

My brother's name is Sam.

Edit: HE'S BUYING IT. HE'S BUYING THE IMPALA.

Well, one thing I will say about that algebra problem: It's a lot less boring than the ones about the guys who go to Walmart and buy all of their watermelons.

On another note, when the news got tiresome, I decided to switch the radio to music. Unable to find the classic rock station I'd been listening to before, I gave up and landed on a station that plays old jazz and swing.

I like it.

I'm Mormon, so instead of drinking actual bourbon, I'm just drinking the bourbon-flavored (and brown sugar!) shake. It's... interesting. is it supposed to taste like vinegar

ETA: That, is, well, rather amazing. :D

I'm not really a fan of harder liquors on their own. The first time I tried whiskey, I think I likened the taste to that of beer, spiked with rubbing alcohol and rattlesnake venom. Not a fan.

Reading through the Whitworth University catalog for the 1920-1921 school year. Why does it have to be so interesting I have to go to bed.

I gave my speech today, to an audience of several hundred people. It went extremely well. I received the 5000 dollar check, a framed congressional record signed by Congressman Cook, two different framed certificates of achievement from the County of San Bernadino, a certificate from the California State Senate, and waaaaay too many handshakes.

But that's not the interesting thing, at least to you guys. :P What's interesting is the program:

There's a bio of me inside. Let's open the brochure up and see it, shall we?

You might see something interesting. For those of you who haven't spotted it, I'll zoom in a little further.

That's right. What Happened in Oregon, a 17th Shard RP, has been mentioned in the program of an official conference/summit-thingy.

This is pretty sparking awesome. :D

Congratulations! :D I hope you got the chance to tell Congressman Cook he's welcome to join.:P

First of, The thing about What happened in Oregon is amazing and hilarious. Did you tell them you worked on that?

Second off, what does censoring your last name even do? It would take me ten seconds on google to figure it out.

EDIT: Yup. ten second. It's a nice name.

So - the quoting function is being stupid and not letting me quote your math problem, but I actually quite like it. All the numbers are nice and round, there are no decimals, and I don't have to deal with tensor calculus. Can I switch math classes with you?

@Cogniz: That is so cool! :D We are spreading mwa ha ha

EDIT: Although you probably shouldn't tell Cook about this universe. Given he is a politician, he probably gets murdered by an Epic at some point, probably right after passing the Capitulation Act :P

@Cognizantastic, that is the best thing EVER. "Collaborative writing project." Heh. Way to make a bunch of bookworms pretending to be corrupt superheroes sound professional. (Disclaimer: in NO way do I mean to disparage RPers. I just find the disconnect between the insanity in the Reckoners RP and the officiousness of the phrase "collaborative writing project" hilarious.)

Spoilers:

I felt like after that, they acted as though being related was a minor annoyance. Like it wasn't a huge obstacle any more than an irritating parent telling them "No you can't date because reasons." I understand that you can't help who you fall in love with, but I felt they didn't treat the idea that they were siblings and they'd been dating with the gravity it deserved, and that was a huge turnoff for me.

Mortal Instruments spoilers:

I got a different impression from the books. I felt like it caused them both a lot of angst, the fact that they were attracted to each other before they knew about their familial relationship (false though it was) and still felt the attraction after Valentine's big reveal.

Cool. I'll pm you.

You beat me to saying exactly this by about 20 seconds. As an occasional lurker, it amuses me. "Collaborative Writing Project" sounds like you're writing a book series together, instead of a casual RP.

I mean, if WHIO: The Book ever came out, I'd buy a million copies and litter the streets with it to watch peoples brains explode, but unfortunately, I could only imagine that glorious day.

AHH!

@oversleep, watchmen is on my ASAP to watch list so I might message you to geek out when I'm done. :)

And on another note,

This is totally not an accurate cultural sample size but this kid I babysit for has an incredibly cool Hebrew kids book. It's the same style as the annoying condescending English ones of "here's a problem. Let's throw in a zillion plot-unnecessary situations to teach about colours/shapes/furniture/whatever before solving it"

But get this:

The problem is that a baby monkey can't find his mother. The butterfly helping him keeps leading him to other animals based on the vague descriptions of the mother. Eventually the monkey says "no, she looks like me!"

And the butterfly is all "oh. Why didn't you say so? I didn't even think of that, my children look nothing like me".

It actually makes sense and it's genuinely clever.

O_O

Edit: no wait the book is translated. Nevermind.

So, tomorrow I officially present my senior research project for physics. Anybody in the Logan, UT area should drop by the USU library at 10:30, looking for a poster on wormholes.

Here's hoping it goes well.

Has anyone here cosplayed a WHIO character?

I would pay cash money to see Twi cosplaying as Funtimes.
