I'm not sure exactly what you are calculating here. It seems to me you are finding the probabilities of any random player being a Skindancer and a member of each social class. Your calculations are (probability of being in social class x)*(probability of being a skindancer). Which is the probability of someone being a member of both input groups. If you are trying to find the probability of any player being a skindancer it is independant of social class and solely equal to the % of skindancers in the game. If you are instead trying to determine how many skindancers would be in each social group based upon randomly generated social classes the equation would be=(chance of anyone being a skindancer)*(# players in each social class).

Perfect! Thank you. Those stats are now just going to be flavour stats because Acaelus doesn't believe that the skindancers exist right now. He is going to be trying to persuade the other students that the skindancers aren't a threat even if they are real.

So really it's only the first stat that means anything, so please everyone, just treat the stats like poster in the door to the university put up by an anonymous student. Those percentages don't mean anything.

Thank you Clanky, apparently I just needed to do some math. Logic and reasoning, not my strongest suit it seems.

(Hmmm, I wonder if Wilson would give me free stuff and love if I continually put a contract out for protecting Hael--thereby ruining his death streak. What are your thoughts on this, Wilson?)

GM question: How do Grams bought in Imre differ from those made by an Artificer? Do the amount of uses you get out of a boughten Gram depend on the buyers artificing ability or is it assumed that it was made by a Master artificer and thus has three uses?

Greetings, commoners; as I am one of only two Vintish noblemen currently attending this school -- and the other is a madman -- I'd like to declare myself the leader of this little endeavor. Any ideas on where we should start?

Also I'm going to place a vote file a complaint against Wonko for forgetting Klin in his first post about him and an insane man being the only Vintish nobleman in the game. Obviously Klin is as sane as they come! But the vote is mostly for him not contributing at all since that original post and for the "Any ideas on where we should start?" in his post that I always see suspiciously as seeming like you're trying to help without actually helping.

Grams bought in Imre have 2 uses. All other items from the Apothecary are single-use items, but since the Gram is more expensive and it's rarer, it's got an extra use out of it. But just one.

Also, since we've had a few different people ask about this: Your PMs with the GM do not count toward your PM-Post ratio. You can ask as many questions or post in there as much as you'd like and nothing will happen. If you're talking about non-game related things in your PMs, please change the font color to blue. Completely blue-text PMs that are truly non-game-related (if you say anything game-related in that PM, that should be in black) will not count toward your ratio. If you've got non-game-related PMs in black, they will count (the reason for this is because we're not going to go through and read every PM you send to every single person you're talking to when we're counting how many PMs you're sending. We're skimming through. If it's blue, we'll skip over it. If it's not, it counts). Please do not abuse the blue text by talking about game-related things in blue to avoid it counting toward your ratio. If someone is abusing it, we'll have to discontinue it for everyone and no one wants that.

And another request: To make PMs easier for us when it comes to counting PMs and also to reduce the chances of messing up when someone spies on someone else's PMs, please start a new PM every turn. Do not roll PMs over to the next turn. Thank you!

I was wondering if the GMs could clarify some rules and answer some questions.

1) In the rules in Section 3 it mentions gaining 5 EP in the field you studied in when you are elevated to El'the if you have only studied in one field. What is considered studying, if I spend EP in both Naming and Sympathy, but am only ever elevated in Naming did I study both or just Naming. Would you get the bonus EP in this case?

2) If you become a Master, can you continue to study other fields and gain new abilities?

3) Last I just want to clarify, you only gain a new ability upon being elevated?

The boy turned away out of courtesy as Varda put on her dress, struggling with her hair somewhat. How gentlemanly of him!

"You know," he commented, turning slightly to let his voice carry to her, "I was hoping you wouldn't be wearing that..." His voice faded for a moment as she pulled the dress over her head. "I have a room at the Horse and Four just down there." He pointed generally downward, presumably towards some sort of inn.

Varda frowned, trying to parse his words. "Wait, slow down. Why wouldn't I be wearing this dress? It's perfectly fine. You've already been so kind. I don't need to impose upon you further." She struggled to pull her hair out of her dress, afraid of tearing the dress that he'd so generously given her. She would have managed something eventually, but this was very helpful, though it scratched at her shoulders slightly. She might have been able to make a (much softer) star-cloak or something, but of course, star-cloaks required, well, stars. Unfortunately sadly lacking in the daytime.

But she was wandering. She turned her attention back towards the young man.

You're switching to a male character? That'll make this RP quite...different. :P

Heh. Sometime I will switch genders in the middle of a RP. That'd cause all sorts of confusion. Not this game, though. Varda is staying a girl. Only my playstyle gender is changing, not my RP character. Speaking of which, I should elaborate on that playstyle!

I am sarcastic and arrogant, and I love RP. RP will come with any post of significant size if at all possible. (I do have a play opening this weekend (AAAAA), so time is somewhat limited.)

This is the same character I was in AG2 and MR11, so look there for how I will act (theoretically).

I changed partly because there was so much RP going on, and partly because I was already being pretty sarcastic, which the playstyle I was supposed to be isn't all that sarcastic. So I've already been in character!

That's about it for this, I believe.

Kynedath, you do know that the evil faction is called Skindancers, correct?

Apparently the girl hadn't heard his request. Or she hadn't understood. Maybe that hair muffled his voice somewhat. Wil watched as the girl struggled to pull her hair out of her dress. He stepped forward, reaching out to help her. He lifted some of her golden locks out of the dress, though it took much more effort than he'd have thought. As he pulled it out, he made sure to smoothly run his fingers past her skin.

"You wouldn't be imposing," Wilem said. "Not at all. In fact, I would enjoy your company immensely." He smiled at the girl, realizing he didn't know her name. "Come, you can tell me your name and the story of how you ended up here with no clothes on the way there." Wil put his hand on the small of her back and gently led her towards the door back into the building.

The dress fit quite well, Wilem noticed as she walked. It lifted just enough for him to glimpse her toned calves as she walked. The dress also showed just the right amount of cleavage. Wil smiled at the thought.

1. Studying is referring to being elevated in a field. So even if you have EP elsewhere, you've only studied in that one field, so therefore, you'd have 5 EP instantly added once you become an El'the.

2. No. Unless you're the Master Archivist and have access to Banned Books.

3. Within the University, yes. But there are a number of abilities you can purchase from Imre. A person could completely ignore the University aspect of this game and still be a threat to arcanists simply through the things they can get in Imre.

Sasuke. Pyra. I'm kinda worried about why I have three votes on me. I'm also going to prod Burnt into voting and discussing the game. All I've seen from you is RP.

Sasuke. Pyra. I'm kinda worried about why I have three votes on me. I'm also going to prod Burnt into voting and discussing the game. All I've seen from you is RP.

It's coming. Don't worry. I'm just typing up a vote count then i'm posting stuff. Patience :P

Edit:

Here:

“I have some complaints you need to hear about” Pyra demanded with a curt tone. “Some people have been going around without even thinking about the feelings of those who don’t have as much money as them. They have been throwing it in my face and rubbing it in and I severely frown upon this. They are annoying me and distracting me from my own studies and calculations. How can I be expected to work out my finances when rich folks hardly seem to care. It is highly distracting. I am therefore formally complaining about one student: Corin (Lopen), made a comment concerning money that I have decided to take offense to. “

----

I figured I would only lodge one vote in rp because I don't want Pyra to have total control over my votes :P she just votes for the people who might annoy her, but I ain't pyra. Different things might annoy me. Like...idk.  I'll tell you when I lodge another complaint :P

As for discussion… idk. Have a complaint/vote count:

Pyra. Clanky, Joe. You two are two of the only ones to have voted and not be voted for. This is somewhat selfish, but I'd rather not you gain extra money, especially Clanky.

Maill, that's just selfish. ;) Nah. Actually, Araris. They havent been voted on nor have they voted for anyone. Don't know why, it's worth the tuition reduction.

"Yes Corrin, you may enquire into the nature of my name. And, I'm now definitely convinced that we've not met before. Nice to make your acquaintance. I see you are in a hurry. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll let you be on your way. Nice to meet you Corrin."

As the stranger walked away, Corrin found himself empty handed and without a name. Hm. That was odd. Did I not speak clearly enough? he thought to himself. But no, I don't mumble. He must have heard me. Ah! Maybe he's just not used to such eloquent speech, and so could not comprehend my meaning. Yes, that must be it. Well, I'll be sure to phrase my manner of speaking in a way that not matter who I am addressing, my meaning will be clear. I suppose I need to adjust myself to the people as well as the location.

As Corrin turned to step into the library, he noticed a girl not far away scribbling in her notebook somewhat angrily. He continued on through the doors, saying softly to himself "yes, very odd indeed."

Araris, since he doesn't have a vote on him yet. This is just one vote. I was gonna do some RP for whoever I voted on, but I don't have the time, sorry!

I honestly have no idea what to think. I'm always at my best when being reactive, so I'm just going to wait and see what happens before really doing anything.

Gonna throw my second complaint on Thisismyusername - they've not posted yet, as far as I can tell.

It's interesting that we'll need ten votes on a player to get them on the Horns, at least in these early stages of the game.

And how do we, as a village, kill the Skindancers? Suppose that we get a Skindancer expelled from the University. What happens then? Unless we get a mommet, or somehow force the Skindancers onto the streets, can we kill them? Perhaps I'm missing something obvious.

Also, Haelbarde and Wonko, you gotta help me out with this RP, my most fine fellows (<-- I hope someone gets that reference). No can do RP on my own.

Hm. I'm going to put my second vote on Ostrichofevil who hasn't got any votes yet.

Why shouldn't I have extra money! I'd like to remind you that Klin is doing very valuable research that everyone here can benefit from!  <_< He also promises not to use his wealth for personal gain!

Anyways I would like to hear a bit more from Danosaur beyond just a few questions about rules.

You do know that this isn't an election right?

BTW, sorry about that ninja man. Not personal.

Corrin heard the word "election" and immediately began constructing a campaign for himself. Walking up to the man who had spoken, he put on his best smile. "Did I hear you say there was an election going on? I nominate myself as a candidate!"

GM's, does voting on yourself give you a tuition decrease?

Posted (edited)

For my tution decrease, I nominate kynedath, silverblade. Nothing personal, I'm just choosing people who haven't been voted on, so that my votes cause less damage. I a bit suspicious of those who have votes on the same person multiple times for RP/No reason.

Also, inb4 X!
