Sasuke took one step on campus, took a deep breath in and smiled. He had worked all summer long in hopes to make enough talents to pay for tuition this semester. Sasuke's first plan of action was to explore the campus a little better. Just as he was about to enter the tower a fellow student stormed out of the tower then made a noise that sounded like a snarl and shoved Sasuke out of his way. Sasuke already didn't have much respect for self entitled noblemen that got all their money from their family. Sasuke already remembered who he was. It was the Aturan Nobleman Wilem. The busy nobleman that had plenty of projects going on, but it seemed that the last one didn't go as planned.

One thing for sure was that Wilem was out for vengeance. Sasuke was going to make sure to stay out of his way he came here to broadened his horizons and to excel in his studies. Sasuke dropped his stuff at the Golden Pony before touring around the campus some more. Making sure that he knew where everything was and what time he had his classes. He remembered that he had a early morning class the next day, and he still hasn't done the homework for that class yet. Sasuke decided to hit the library for some late night studies in hope to make it look like he didn't do the assignment at last minute.

As he was walking by some students he heard some faint whispers about staying alert and being on the lookout for Skindancers. "Skindancers?" Sasuke muttered he didn't know very much about the subject. He decided to hurry up and finish his assignment quickly as possible and devote most of his time to researching the mysterious Skindancers. He came to the conclusion that these beings were up to no good and had to be dealt with immediately the first thing he was going to do in the morning was filing a complaint against Wilem. He already knew he was up to no good especially after today's ordeal.

“You can do this!” she said to herself as she walked out into the courtyard in front of the tower, Touka was about to do something very unpleasant. A couple days ago she had lost a bet to her best friend Sasuke. The bet was to stand in the middle of the court yard and sing.

So she took a deep breath and warmed up her vocals. “Doctor please..give me a dose of the Vintish dream…” she sang out for all to hear. She had heard the song a few days ago and decided upon it. As people walked by she stumbled on the words, but she would stay true to the bet.

After singing for a while Touka started thinking about Sasuke and his eyes. His eyes that could pierce your soul, eyes that could make any girl blush. Touka pushed her blue hair out of her face and touched her eyes. If only I could have eyes like that, then the boys might like me, she thought to herself.

The MoA watched from a hidden cubbyhole around the university as he saw Wilem approaching a young girl on a roof, and took note of the almost savage leer upon his face at the time. It was obvious his intentions were less that pure, as if he was trying to be kind, he could have used a multitude of methods to place the dress on the roof without going up personally. The MoA wanted to interfere very badly, but he was commanded to not interfere, so he was forced to grit his teeth and watch the meeting from the shadows, clenching and unclenching his fists. Even if Wilem wasn't a skindancer, he wasn't someone the MoA would miss if he happened to fall from grace in the university. A few anonymous notes in certain offices, and the masters would get the point... The MoA slipped away through the shadows once more, glad that at least this action hadn't been foiled.

There are... SO many people revealing where they are staying. Is this a trend? Giving out free information? Because that is free information. I have no way of telling if your location is real or not, but the less information shared with potential skindancers, the better I'd say. I'm all for sharing suspicions and complaints, and this might just be me here, but I tend to hold all my cards close to my chest, so I get a little paranoid when people start giving out information. This is probably just me being insane here, but I've shared my view, and I'm not taking it back.

I was going to say. Brilliant job getting people to RP, Wilson! This is great!

And awesome job to all the RPers as well. Seriously, this is amazing and wonderful and so much fun.

Response RP will be coming sometime in the next few hours. This is going to be interesting, I can tell. Definitely not what I expected, but still really fun. I don't even know where I'm going to take it yet.

Bridge Boy, everyone knows where everyone else is staying at the moment. You stay at the best place you can afford, and the rules state how much each rank begins with. Stating that they're changing accomodations, however, is in fact free information. (Doesn't mean it's necessarily true, thought.)

He had been getting a snack, and was on his way back to the library when it so happened that when he was walking past the disciplinary office that he heard the raised voice of some arrogant noble. Which was hardly notable. What was worthy of note was the single word that resolved from the buzz of voices. It was his name!

He listened at the door. It was true! Kipper was Complaining about him, and for something he didn't even do! This couldn't stand. Nor could he stand here, not with Kipper about to finish up. So he did the only sensible thing he could. He started walking down the corridor, and fell over. "Botherations!" He cried out. "I'm must complain! The floor was uneven! This can't stand because I couldn't stand!" As he was picking himself up, he felt an oppressive presence pass him. Looking up, Kipper had left the office. He could feel the disdain for others drip off of Kipper. Or maybe that was his own sweat...

Dusting himself off, he entered the office. "I want to file a formal complaint about Kipper! There's something wrong with the floor outside! I fell over!"

Also GMs: Does the vote removed by the Horse and Four also negate the tuition increase that comes from being voted on?

Yes.

Hey GM's is there a cap on the number of tuition reductions available from RP posts?

Nope. Feel free to RP as much as you want. Please do, in fact.  ;)

Nope. Feel free to RP as much as you want. Please do, in fact. ;)

I would do nothing less than what my lady commands. (See note below about changed character.)

Because she didn't know what else to do (and because she was bored), Varda watched the sun rise into the sky, smiling at the faint memory of another sun, fruit of Laurelin, borne by... she couldn't remember the name. Some fiery maiden goddess, too beautiful for her mortal mind to recall. Memory was the price of mortality, unfortunately. Or rather, memory loss. Sometimes she thought she'd prefer remembering and going insane from the glory. But no, of course not. She had tasks and duties. At least this one shouldn't be too hard. Only a minor infestation, and from what she remembered of her future-sight, likely to be solved with her involvement. But the other paths, where the evil spread... She shuddered and turned her face back towards the bright sun.

Varda turned in surprise at a voice, blushing at her state of undress. And of course it was a young man, rather than some kind woman or elderly grandfather or something. She blushed further.

"Hello," said a young man, smiling kindly and breaking through her embarrassment a bit. "I couldn't help but notice your lack of apparel. So I brought you a dress! I hope it fits you well enough."

"Oh," Varda said. "How kind of you!" Perhaps this crisis won't be as bad as usual, she thought to herself. This is the nicest anyone's been to be in an age.

She stepped forward to take the forest green dress, trying to keep her private parts under her hair and only partly succeeding. Hair, even five-foot-long hair, was definitely not made to be clothing. As her past self should have thought about before leaving her naked on a roof.

The boy's smooth hands touched hers for a second before she awkwardly yanked them away.

Your choice whether to be a gentleman and turn your back or not. (Not like it's hard to guess, though.)

In other news, I've decided to change my character to the RP-heavy one (who also happens to be male and occasionally flourishing and gentlemanly, hence the beginning of this post (also because I felt like saying that)). I will post more about that in the morning when my bed isn't calling me. (Well, my bed will probably still be calling me. But that's too bad.)

The girl turned around, blushing a fierce shade of pink. Wilem couldn't force a blush onto his cheeks, but managed a somewhat sheepish smile. He kept the dress extended out at arm's length and slowly looked up, taking in her body as he did so. She had managed to position her hair so that it covered all the nicest parts, but Wil knew less was more. And this body was a nice one. He wasn't quite sure she wasn't an embrula, a female Fae.

"Oh. How kind of you!" she said. As she took the dress, her soft hands brushed past his own. He smiled and looked into her eyes. Green. His favorite color.

"You know," Wil said as he turned halfway, keeping her in the corner of his eye, "I was hoping you wouldn't be wearing that dress for too long. I have a room at the Horse and Four just down there."

Wilem wondered who this girl was. He was reminded of the stories he had heard of Felurian. A gorgeous fae who lured men in. But she lived in some forest somewhere, right? How many girls showed up naked on a roof, with golden hair almost longer than their body? Either this girl was a bit cracked in the head, which didn't seem too likely, she was a noble with some strange fancies, or this was some kind of fae. Whichever way it fell, Wil didn't really care too much. Raw beauty like this wasn't something you just found everywhere.

You're switching to a male character? That'll make this RP quite...different. :P

Corrin wandered around the University, trying to familiarize himself with the place he'd be spending so much of his time at. Time that he would have to spend wisely. Time he couldn't afford to waste. I have to find the answers here. They must be here! There was a reason he'd come here, more than just a thirst for knowledge or power, or anything that most others were after. No, he'd come because of the Crockery. The place he knew would be his home unless he could find answers. Answers for why his family was going insane, one by one.

He was the oldest of 7 children, well, him and his twin were the oldest at least, born a Noble, a life of luxury and contentment. That all had changed a year ago. First it was his youngest sister, Azura, who had lost her mind. They'd found her in her room with a knife, all of her belonging shredded to pieces or broken in ways that didn't seem possible. She'd seemed to return to normal after that fit, but the next month, it wasn't her clothes that she'd shredded. Then, a few months later, his next youngest sibling was lost to them, as he had wondered out from their home at night, never to be found until a week or so later, when some commoners brought back his body, claiming he'd burst into their home, shouting unintelligible things until he suddenly dropped dead, for reasons no one was sure of, whether it was a lack of nutrition or a heart attack or who knows what. And just a few months back it was his second youngest brother who'd been claimed by this strange curse that was haunting his family. Luckily, his parents were able to contain him before he took his own life, but he was currently in a coma like state, never talking or moving unless someone touched him, flesh against flesh, at which point he would begin to cry and sob for no apparent reason.

Corrin shuddered just thinking about the despair and the pain in his brothers eyes. I have to find the answers. For myself as well as my family. At least there are some signs before it happens. Each of his now deceased or insane siblings had shown some odd tendencies before they had lost it completely. Loss of memory, not knowing who or where they were at random times. Physically harmful tendencies as well, such as his littlest sister had shown.

Yes. I must find the solution before my whole life is ripped away from me, with me either dead, or a fate possibly worse than death.

With that thought, he headed to the library, hoping he could find some information, ANY information, about his family's situation.

                                                              --------------------------------------------------------

So there's my character. Feel free to add him in any RP ya'll do, so that I have an easier time thinking of RP to do(so I can keep my money!).  :P He's pretty serious, and is very not patient(don't call him impatient though, that really ticks him off).

"That hadn't gone too well." Marcos thought to himself as recalled his brief encounter with Acaelus. Perhaps I should approach Acaelus later. When he's not being absorbed by the book. It really had seemed like rather than Acaelus reading the book, the book had been devouring him.

In any case, Marcos was still determined to make some friends. So far out into the term, he hadn't had any friend really. Just the inn owner of the golden pony. He'd seemed a nice person.

So, Marcos was going to go to the library that evening. But, first, he had to get to Master Hemme's class. Fortunately for Marcos, the Master was always favouring him. If he was a few minutes late, or his assignment incomplete, or something else, Hemme would just let Marcos go. He didn't know yet why, but Marcos intended to take full advantage of that.

Going over excuses in his head, Marcos rushed to the rhetoric and logic class. Hemme eyed him for a few seconds, and then ordered him to be seated. Everyone knew how favoured Marcos was. But, nonetheless, a latecomer who avoided punishments in Hemme's class was still something to gossip about.

*a while later*

The class was finally over. Today's had been about good posturing and eye contact.

On his way to the library, Marcos bumped into a stranger. He seemed to be a student by Marcos' approximation. "Hey there!" Marcos said with ostentatious confidence, trying to maintain eye contact. "Have we met before?"

EDIT: fixed time line.

There you go Lopen.

And Kynedath, no offense, but I couldn't really think of what Marcos would have said to that other than awkwardly stopping the conversation.

As Corrin approached the library, his thoughts were suddenly interrupted as a man bumped into him.

"Hey there! Have we met before?" the stranger said.

"I don't believe so. I don't make it a habit to talk to those who have no regard for others space," Corrin snapped back.

He sighed, calming himself. "I apologize. I was in a rush and wasn't paying well enough attention to my surroundings, so I have no reason to act so rudely to you. Anyways, it's possible you've bumped into me on a separate occasion since the term began and it's also possible we've spoken before. I've met a good many new people since reaching the University, from all different classes, though it's hard to tell how some of them can afford to pay even a term's tuition. I can't seem to recall your name though. Might I inquire what it is? Mine is Corrin," he said politely as he outstretched his hand.

Edit: GM's, what if you do quality RP and quality thread participation in one post?

From where she sat underneath the tree she had chosen, Pyra had good veiw of the library entrance and was also in hearing range. So she watched as two men collided and thab began to introduce themselves. Hrmph. People with money only ever care about themselves she thought. they don't even bother to see if another person is about to collide with them or not. They look annoying. she decided. But then, she thought anyone who had more moneythan her was annoying. And that was almost everyone.

"...I've met a good many new people since reaching the University, from all different classes, though it's hard to tell how some of them can afford to pay even a term's tuition..." She overheard one of them say. This annoyed her further. "Hrmph. Well you don't have to say that like its a bad thing. I might decide to take that as an insult" she grumbled quietly to herself. "even I don't even know how I'm going to manage. you don't have to rub it in..." she continued to grumble quietly to herself about the unfairness of it all, shooting the two a glare, not caring if they saw or not. She then started writing about it in her notebook with her earlier writings.if anything, coming here at least gave her more things to write and grumble about.

With a sigh she paused her scribbling. She knew sheshould stop whining about her lack of funds. Complaing wasn't going to make her any friends. At all. But... until she did make friends grumbling was totally fine with her.

Marcos was taken aback. This Corrin, to him, seemed a very exhausted person. Wearing thin often split one at the seams.

"Yes Corrin, you may enquire into the nature of my name. And, I'm now definitely convinced that we've not met before. Nice to make your acquaintance. I see you are in a hurry. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll let you be on your way. Nice to meet you Corrin."

It's fun to tease people! Marcos thought to himself. He hadn't done that in days. The trip to Imre had been amongst a dull crowd. Marcos just hoped he hadn't offended Corrin. But, the jibe was in itself a preliminary screening for his friends. If they didn't possess a sense of humor, then they were better left alone.

All along, a female had been staring at the both of them. Marcos had seen her around the unversity. Her gaze had been a bit disconcerting.Marcos guessed that something about he both of them had ticked her off. He'd deal with her later. First, to see whether Corrin was good.

It was the first day of classes. Danosaur took his very first step into the University filled with a variety of emotions. He arrived at the inn as last minute as he could. Being a momma’s boy he didn’t exactly want to leave home. But he wanted to make his parents proud; he wanted to show he was capable.

But in Danosaur’s mind he didn’t know what to think. After all, just last night there had been talk about a woman’s death?

DEATH?!

He was having second thoughts. He didn’t know anyone. He was in a new place he had never been before. Is the prestigious University so great after all? Is it worth to risk his safety? Well, most murders aren’t spontaneous… right? Usually the perpetrator has a reason to go after the victim. So he really didn’t have anything to worry about

The atmosphere in the University felt tense. Before stepping any further, he pulled out his half destroyed Dinosaur plushie from his bag. It had gone with him everywhere since he was born. He knew that it was silly to still carry it around, but especially at a time like this he felt it was the only source of security he could hold onto.  Here we go, Danosaur thought. He had no idea what to expect.

"The grass doesn't mix well with the Tenaculum"

"Tenaculum? Why would you put tenaculum in your potion? Actually don't answer that I don't want to know. You didn't actually drink it did you?"

"Well..." Klin pauses just long enough to violently puke into a bush just off the main path "Maybe?"

"Klin you've got to stop this! You're going to kill yourself if you keep this up!"

"You're right as always I can't keep doing this..."

"Good"

"...alone"

"No! No way I'm going to help you kill yourself with this obsession."

"Fine! I'm sure that there would be plenty of people who would love to be my assistant in this great quest that will change the world forever!"

The next day students around the University began seeing posters on every open wall throughout the university that read:

When I was younger so much younger than today,

I never needed anybody's help in any way!

But now those days are gone I'm not so self-assured,

Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors!

I"m sure you've all heard of Klin and his quest to be Forever Young

and now for the first time ever he is searching for an assistant!

Only the best and brightest will be considered for this position

Apply today!

"What is that first paragraph even about Klin?"

"It's called poetry! Trust me, one day it will be almost as famous as my eternal youth potion!"

So if anyone wants to join in on some RP in Klins search to be forever young I'm open to anything so feel free to just jump in.

I know that everyone is probably just going to use their EPs however they seem fit but I've been thinking about how to distribute EPs to best counter the Skindancers. What I am thinking is that the Skindancers will probably each just focus on one field so that they can reach master asap in order to destroy the fields as quickly as possible. Also I expect that since they are the only ones who can work together with complete trust they will probably have at least one person working towards master namer and another towards master physicker so that they can use Psychological counselling to counteract the innate insanity roll bonus that high level namers have to deal with. I think the best way for us to counteract the skindancers here would be to not split your EPs so that we can beat the skindancers to being Masters preventing the destruction of any fields of study.

As the Library calmed on that day, Acaelus was reading about the theologies of mythological races. It was quite fascinating, really. So many different species and so many different beliefs. Did some believe one thing while others of that same race believed another? Did all races believe in one thing? Did they even believe in anything, or were they just mindless animals trying to survive? So much could be discovered about a species' philosophy and mind-set, their entire way of life, simply by examining their traditions and religious beliefs.

Unfortunately, that information was extremely rare for any race worth studying. Only a few texts on the subject were written. The fact that Humans were so superstitious was a large advantage considering that there are rumors of murder running around the school. Students were blaming the Skincrawlers with every breath. People were taking out books on them whenever they could, so Acaelus just decided to take one that a student was returning to the Library. The Compendium of knowledge on the Skindancers as requested by Callum Calverion and the Academia was quite informative on the subject.

The Skincrawlers have no definable sense of morals other than an extreme sense of racism. They strive to eradicate anything that is not another Skincrawler. Their uncanny ability to take on the appearance of any human makes it surprisingly skilled at infiltrating any organization and killing it's inhabitants. Although they are skilled at eliminating their targets, they seem to have trouble reproducing. It is unknown whether or not it is due to the male:female ration in their species, or simply just because that is a biological trait of theirs. In either case, their numbers are small and they must complete their goal stealthily, not with brute force.

Acaelus would have to create a formal racial profile for the Skincrawlers, but for now, he had other matters on his mind. Well, if the University students are so fascinated by the Skincrawlers, I will have to address them. He would have to show them that the chances of Skincrawlers being withing their midst isn't as probable as they think. With the amount of time he had, he could probably even separate his research by social class. Given the ratios of the social classes, he could simplify it so that the entire University would be represented by 24 different people, categorized by the 5 social classes. After, he would leave his findings in the courtyard for all the students to see.

In other words, I am going to find the probabilities of each person in a single social class being a Skincrawler (SC) if distributed by an RNG.

First off, the entire University Population (UP).

First problem is finding out how many Skincrawlers there are. I think that the two most probable possibilities are 5 & 6.

6 Skincrawlers is 25% of the UP while 5 is ~21%. The very least would be 4 Eliminators, but I doubt that is the case. With the amount of Players in this game as well as the complexity and the difficulty of killing, I am thinking that 6 is more likely.

The entire population is comprised of 24 people.

The probability of any one given person being a SC depends on the number of SC.

If there is 6 SC, the probability is 25%

If there is 5 SC, the probability is 20.83%

If there is 4 SC, the probability is 16.67%

Now we get down to the Social classes. This gets a lot more complicated as I have to take into account the rest of the University. I will take the number of people in that social class (represented by the # of players in the social class divided by the total # of players) and I will then multiply it by the ratio of people to SC's (the above percentages).

The Vintish Noblemen have 3 players.

3/24 = 12.5% * 25% or 0.125 * 0.25 = 3.125% or 0.03125

3/24 = 12.5% * 21% or 0.125 * 0.21 = 2.625% or 0.02625

3/24 = 12.5% * 17% or 0.125 * 0.17 = 2.125% or 0.02125

Both Aturan Noblemen and Yllish Commoners have 6 Players

6/24 = 25% * 25% or 0.25 * 0.25 = 6.25% or 0.0625

6/24 = 25% * 21% or 0.25 * 0.21 = 5.25% or 0.0525

6/24 = 25% * 17% or 0.25 * 0.27 = 4.25% or 0.0425

Cealdish Commoners have 7 players.

7/24 = 29% * 25% or 0.29 * 0.25 = 7.25% or 0.0725

7/24 = 29% * 21% or 0.29 * 0.21 = 6.09% or 0.0609

7/24 = 29% * 17% or 0.29 * 0.17 = 4.93% or 0.0493

Edema Ruh's have 2 players.

2/24 = 8.3% * 25% or 0.083 * 0.25 = 2.075% or 0.02075

2/24 = 8.3% * 21% or 0.083 * 0.21 = 1.743% or 0.01743

2/24 = 8.3% * 17% or 0.083 * 0.17 = 1.411% or 0.01411

I know that these numbers look really small, but they most likely are done properly. If anyone can do better than I did, then please do so.

Sasuke rolled out of his bed. gave a huge sigh and pushed himself off of the floor. He didn't sleep at all last night  He was completely restless last night, the constant thoughts of Skindancers at his University scared him to no end. The Skindancers abilities made his hair on his neck stick straight up. The fact that he could walk past one and have no idea made him tremble. How do you fight an enemy that is hiding in plain sight? he wondered. He knew he had to play it cool, and have his defense constantly up. he just needed to give the illusion that he had no idea that they are on campus. After all only certain students seem to know about the trespassers. There was no University announcement about the possibility of Skindancers on this campus. Unless... that was the faculty's move to make the Skindancers feel like they completely slipped in unnoticed and were free to roam about. Sasuke shook his head and told himself to remain calm and just play it out.

Sasuke figured that the Skindancers would probably underestimate him and he would be able to outsmart them. He started to smile to himself "perfect, and I am in the right major" he deviously whispered. He began to plot how he would take each Skindancer down one at a time. As he walked out of his room he turned and slowly closed the door without making a sound. How amusing he thought if I took down a Skindancer they might just grant me the status of master already. Sasuke had a thirst for power, and he wouldn't let anyone get in his way. He vouched that he would be the strongest master to have ever lived.

So much RP and not enough time to read it! I will have to get caught up when I get home from work tonight at 8 :(   Sadly that will be after the cycle rolls over so I better file a compliant now as I am not sure if I will get a break to log back in and do so.

I am going to file a compliant for someone that posts seemed a little off to me. TheMightyLopen.

Haelbarde, to respond to one of your comments...

...they [skindancers] don't have a straight out kill - they send people to the crockery first, and would have to target them again to kill them. Which strikes me as a really slow way of killing.

It would be a really slow way of killing if we had some way to detect them. But unfortunately we do not. We all have to "level up" in fields. And to be honest, what way do we have of killing the Skindancers, other than malignant Sympathy? Not much. So...yeah this game is gonna take a while. We have 24 players, and nine fields. It would take a Term and a half for all those people to be elevated in even one field, removing the possibility of people being double-elevated.

Now, discussion of what to do with EP. Obviously the best strategy for the Skindancers for this cycle is to pick a field (I would imagine Alchemy, Artificery, Naming, or Sympathy) and blitz it with all their EP. Assuming we have 4-6 Skindancers, this would be 16-25% of the entire game's EP, and most likely, a Skindancer would receive the elevation. From there, it gets a bit more complicated. I'm not sure at what point blitzing becomes a less than viable option...regardless, it's impossible to stop that strategy for right now except by the roll of the dice, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. As for me, my EP is going into one of the lesser fields, in order to gain at least one ability. I'll be going to Imre next month to try for my Talent Pipes, so if anybody wants a contract put on the market, or desires anything from the Apothecary, do PM me and let me know.

(Hmmm, I wonder if Wilson would give me free stuff and love if I continually put a contract out for protecting Hael--thereby ruining his death streak. What are your thoughts on this, Wilson?)

For everyone else...just do what you wanna do. There really is no master plan, at the moment, for us to defeat the Skindancers and take back the University, so put your EP wherever you want. I've got a few minor suspicions based on this thread already, but will keep them to myself.

Also, if there's anybody willing to take the tuition hit from PMing, hit me up.

I'm not sure exactly what you are calculating here. It seems to me you are finding the probabilities of any random player being a Skindancer and a member of each social class. Your calculations are (probability of being in social class x)*(probability of being a skindancer). Which is the probability of someone being a member of both input groups. If you are trying to find the probability of any player being a skindancer it is independant of social class and solely equal to the % of skindancers in the game. If you are instead trying to determine how many skindancers would be in each social group based upon randomly generated social classes the equation would be=(chance of anyone being a skindancer)*(# players in each social class).
