Orlion Blight he/him Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Life is sunshine and rainbows when you are accompanied by a book by Cormac McCarthy!
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 So I have almost 6000 words now in my Thousand Realms Master Worldbuilding document, and I still haven't even gotten to the theoretical basis of mortal magic or godly powers. And after that, there's still an entire cosmological history to revise and insert (the original is great as far as it goes, but some of the underlying structure has changed since then, and it needs to be updated to reflect that). I begin to wonder if I am going overboard with this... Nah. I'm just getting started. After I finish this, Edassa is next. I'm actually getting very close to where I think I can start my worldbuilding thread. That's equal parts exciting and terrifying... A new Seonid RP? *Gasps*
Seonid he/him Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 A new Seonid RP? *Gasps* Well, not really an RP. More a grand compilation of background information. I don't have time to run another RP. If there's enough interest, after I graduate (this May) I may start up a new Edassan RP, or even a sci-fi one set in the Starnet. Or even, if you beg and plead enough, one set in Hatharin or the City of Mortals. I'd have to do a lot of discovery writing to figure those settings out, though. Which probably wouldn't be a bad thing for me.

Awesome to know other over-ambitious worldbuilder is making better progress than me. My worldbuilding notes are nowhere as extense as I'd like, since I tend to relly too much on my superhuman memory, but I am trying to fix this so I can finaly write my 3+ Eras of the Arginian Saga, going from a divinely assisted planetary exodus and a cultural clash between four sapient species in a dying world to conspiracies involving transhuman immortals and two Catacendre-like events. I am quite sure I am going overboard, since I am not that good at worldbuilding at first place, being better at making characters. But I am trying. Of course, I have gone nowhere as far as you, but I feel I am progressing faster each month that passes. Edited February 16, 2016 by DreamEternal 1
Mistrunner Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Except raspberry. Natural raspberry tastes like candy, which is kind of disgusting coming from a fruit.But... but... raspberries are nummy.Just curious- who here has had salmonberries? Or thimbleberries? They're fairly common in the more nature-y parts of Washington, but a lot of people elsewhere seem to have no idea what they are. *attempts to ignore comments about Calamity whilst crying in a corner* Edited February 16, 2016 by Mistrunner

Delightful Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) It's just a joke, referring to the fact that JordanCon has an entire Sanderson track in its programming lineup (and Brandon's a guest almost every year). I've heard stories of people in Mistborn cosplay flinging pennies down empty hallways and such. Mostly I'm just surprised that there aren't more Sharders who go to this con, because it sounds like they're more or less Our People Anybody here use Scrivener/have an opinion on it? Raspberries are so goooooooood.I can say I have never heard of those, but counter question, have you ever heard of loquats? I've never met anybody outside of Florida who has ever heard of them. Edit: No, those two were….well, you know how they were. Is there anyone annoying, overpowering, and matronly? Hmmm….maybe I'll go Potterverse and call her and my dad Bellatrix and Rodolphus. I have the perfect names for you: Umbridge and Amaram. Edited February 17, 2016 by The Honor Spren 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I finished two things I loved today. Gravity Falls and Reckoners. I'll leave aside my opinions on the second because spoilers, but the first one knocked their finale out of the park.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 *sniffle* You get 'em, Bodacious T! Pacifica did what no one else in her family had the courage to do. She touched the hillbilly.

Of course, I have gone nowhere as far as you, but I feel I am progressing faster each month that passes. That sounds awesome! And I understand your feelings. I'm not that great with creating characters, but my worldbuilding is rather decent. If you are interested in posting some of what you're doing, I'd love to see it. (If not, that's totally cool too.) *makes happy face and giggles* Wow. I didn't know that my last RP was that popular. It kind of fizzled out quickly enough - partially due to my suddenly increased lack of time to put into it, I think. I'm actually kind of flattered that it's remembered fondly enough that folks would get all excited over the prospect of me starting a new one. That might be enough to get me actively thinking about a new RP setting. There were 5 left over in Edassa that we hadn't even touched yet, but I think Edassa is tricky to do stuff with because I know so much about it. A place where there is more discovery left - on my part - would be a better RP setting for an Edassa-style RP. On the other hand, I could take a look at putting together a module more like traditional Dungeons and Dragons - maybe even modifying the D&D 3.5 ruleset for the setting and a forum experience. Look at me. I definitely shouldn't be thinking about this now. At all. I still have to think about graduating. After that, we'll see. *sneaks away to start brainstorming RP rulesets* 2

Love me some salmonberries. Haven't had one of the things in years.

Young Bard he/him Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Ahhh... the Worldbuilders. I'm sort of a wannabe worldbuilder, who due to an extremely short attention span then goes off and starts writing the story before any signs of completeness. 1

I'm sort of a wannabe worldbuilder, who due to an extremely short attention span then goes off and starts writing the story before any signs of completeness. I am like that as well, it is just that I just give up after stumbling on a worldbuilding hole and go back to the annotations.

They taste sort of like a peach, but sweeter. They are delicious. Loquats are actually native to China, but they grow very well in Florida and it's the only thing that my family has been able to keep alive over the years. It's common for people to have loquat trees in their backyards. Pictures: Edited February 17, 2016 by The Honor Spren

The Honor Spren she/her Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Are loquats related kumquats, or meerkats? . . . Neither? Loquats are related to apples, pears, and peaches. Kumquats are a type of citrus. And needless to say, meerkats are a kind of mongoose.

Kaymyth she/her Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Don't know why I thought of this but I did. Because GIR is the best character ever in the history of the universe? (Can I be a mongoose dog?) 1
