Mestiv he/him Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Children's Librarian in Algona, IA. The pay isn't terrific (just under $30,000 per year) but since it'll just be me and Bruce, it should be doable, and I'll be able to apply for a better position in a few years if I get it. Thanks! I wish I made that kind of money... As a programmer in Poland I make about $19000 a year :/ and the prices here are not proportionaly lower. I get super envy when I hear how much money people make in other countries :< in Germany I would be paid at least 4 times more than in Poland :/

Delightful Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Didn't someone already do the maths and topic posting speed is exponential? 1

Kobold King he/him Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 That moment you realize there's a clever hack in your paranormal sci-fi setting that allows for entire species to develop their own magic systems: 4
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 A conversation between my sister and I: "If someone makes a movie about my life, I want there to be lots of explosions." "You could always put it in your will: 'If a movie is made about my life, there must be explosions.'" "Sure, Twi, but where's the fun in that?" "Oh, I think it'd be pretty fun when people read it. 'I want explosions in this movie about my life.' 'You reformed hospital administration!'" 6

The solution is simple, if your sister wants explosions in a movie about her life she just has to blow lots of stuff up whenever she can manage to. 4
Kaymyth she/her Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 So I AM the family Derpy Accidental downvote ...only if you want to be? (Though, you know, all those accidental downvotes are rather Derpy-esque.) I wish I made that kind of money... As a programmer in Poland I make about $19000 a year :/ and the prices here are not proportionaly lower. I get super envy when I hear how much money people make in other countries :< in Germany I would be paid at least 4 times more than in Poland :/ You, sir, are tragically underpaid. 1
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I'll be pretty inactive for the next week or two. See you guys later.

Voidus Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Yeesh, how do they even justify paying you that? Yeah I don't think that would even be legal here assuming you were working anything close to full-time.
Quiver he/him Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) So. Star Wars features the Solo family. The Man fr UNCLE had Napoleon Solo. Napoleon Solo was played by Henry Cavil. Henry Cavil also played Superman. Therefore: 'Napoleon Solo' is an alias. The man we know as Napoleon Solo was actually Jor-El's father, using an old family name; some comics and shows have used the House of El scouting pit Earth ahead of time. That's how Jor-El knew that Clark would be super powered after spending time there;he was working off of Grampa Superman's research notes. Subsequently, that means the DCU takes place in the Star Wars universe...which explains how normal humans like Batman or Green Arrow can keep up with demi-Gods. They are using the force! Citadel16 he/him Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I've returned from my endless sleep using Stormgate's iPad. Now I will probably just leave and return to my sleep for another week or so... Beware my return... Or not. 1
Mestiv he/him Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Yeesh, how do they even justify paying you that? It's about twice as much as the avarage salary in Poland and over 3 times more than minimum wage. Many things in Poland are cheaper than you are used to... except real estate, cars, electronics, entertainment... well except all the things that are not required for survival (but our Internet providers are great, no transfer limits, cheap and the speeds are really good ). Also services like mechanics, plumbers, even private medical care is a lot cheaper than in wester Europe. Unfortunately, Elantris letherbound + shipping is still like 1/4 or 1/5 of my monthly income, so no leather Elantris for me
Kestrel she/her Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 It does? Thank you. No need to message me, I already have way too much free time this part of the year, I can check myself sounds good, you can also follow their facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc, for updates on registration openings.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I just booked a flight, hotel, and rental car for my trip to Algona. Technically, I'll be flying into Rochester, MN and driving out to Algona for the interview, since I couldn't find a single sparking flight for closer airports in Mason City or Clear Lake. I feel like such an adult. 7

I feel like such an adult. A lot of the smaller regional and municipal airports won't have direct flights to anywhere but nearby airports. For example, Clear Lake only has flights to and from St. Louis and Chicago. And because they run on their own tiny carriers, you may not be able to find those flights on the big booking websites.

Kestrel she/her Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Signature change with announcement! as it says, I will not be here next week! why? My band has the honor of marching in the 2016 Tournament of Roses parade! This is a huge deal for us and we're leaving tomorrow to spend the week in Cali! With that being said, we're totally booked with time so I'll most likely be limiting free time when I have internet to Flight Rising. I may or may not stop by here. Look for me on TV! I'm still not comfortable telling what school I go to but trust me, you'll know us when you see us. 6
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 There's adult, and then there's out-of-state VIP adult. Thanks! It was more expensive than I would have liked, but they're reimbursing me for travel costs, so that should defray the worst of it. And you'd better believe I lied to my parents about how much I paid. No way was I going to suffer the raised eyebrow of doom after my victory in adulting. 3
