That is valid.  The one thing that is similar to this that isn't valid is when you refer to information you don't have.  So you couldn't say "Move toward the room where Newan is" or "Attack a member of the spiked team" or "Protect the nicrosil misting"

I found that somewhat confusing, because "Is Newan in the room?" isn't information you'd have either. I suppose one argument is that you find out via your action. So you couldn't go [if Newan is in the room, climb in the rafters; otherwise, search the room]?

And are the results of previous periods valid information? Eg say I really wanted to attack Newan:

If I attack Newan in any period, skip to period 4. I am in room A1.

[1. Attack Newan. If he's not there, move to room A2.][2. Attack Newan. If he's not there, move to room A3.][3. Attack Newan. If he's not there, sleep.]

[4. Sleep][5. Search the room.]

...For that matter, if you've got [1. move to A2][2. move to A3], but the tunnel to A2 was blocked, what happens in period 2?

Exactly.

That works.

"Action 1: Failed.  Action 2: Failed."  However, you could say "move south" instead of "move to A3".  In that case, if the tunnel to A2 was not being blocked during the second action period, you would at least get to A2 rather than just staying in A1.

Gawd this will be the most complicated game I've ever been a part of.

Well, there was a reason Newan and Aonar built in an extra 24 hours after every night cycle just for them to decide what in Damnation happened.  :)

They do? That is really ridiculous.

/points to the first post in this thread under the "Day and Night" section

I suppose I could be reading it wrong, but I think that's what it says.

Seeing as this is a valid action, I wonder how many of us will be roving around trying to kill our target?

For that matter what would happen if Twei and Newan passed each other in the passageway?  Would they just nod to each other or would Twei turn Newan into a pin cushion right there?

Newan would die, in this case, and Twei would stay where she was. For the action period that someone is moving between rooms, they are considered to be in both rooms, and can be affected by actions taken in either room.

I'll sign up as well. I'll be Jode (Rhymes with Hoed), a jobless vagabond who prefers to leach off others and beg rather than get a job and work for his living.

Rolan whistled a merry tune as he worked on his latest piece.  Stone flew as the hammer struck the chisel; a crack sounding again and again as the chisel was struck.  Finally Rolan stood back and admired his work.  A beautiful white marble headstone with the name Jode carved in near the top.

Taking a sip of water Rolan mentally crossed Jodes name off his list.  29 tombstones carved.  How many more will be foolish enough to sign up?  Glancing to his left Rolan noted one final piece of stone.  And just who will carve my epigraph if I fall?

I am claiming the job of the tombstone maker.  If anyone has anything specific they want on the headstone then let me know via PM once the game starts.  Otherwise I will give you something I hope will bring a smile to your ghost faces.

Will protective items be automatically equipped. if so will they be equipped when they are needed or when they are discovered.

as an example say i were to acquire a wooden shield. would it be instantly equipped so it will be used in the first insistence it is able to. or will it remain unequipped but be automatically equipped as soon as there is a possibility for it to be used.

I ask this because I may be away for a couple days during the game and though u should still be able to post I may miss a cycle or two here an there.

Haha yes this is correct.

Passive items are automatically equipped.  Shields, armor, and aluminum hats all count as passive items.  If you give one of these items to someone, it will stop protecting you right before that action period and begin protecting that player during that action period.  Lerasium alloys do not count as passive items, as they must be burned (1 action period) and then cannot be given away afterward.

We're so close to the record! Just two more players...

I have a question: can contingencies be expressed in the form: 1: Do A, if it fails do B, 2. If I did A do C, if B do D, etc?

Posted (edited)

I asked, and it would look a little somethig like this:

Actions: (room B2) [1. move west, if not possible, move north, if not possible, look for item ]  [2. if I have not looked for an item yet: move north, if not possible, look for item.  If I already looked for an item: sleep ]  [3. if I have not looked for item: look for item.  If I have looked for item: #include <hit.list> kill one of these people ]

Quick question, in the action list in the instructions, it says you have three night time actions, but what about the day, what happens during the day hours other than talking and voting, could a person move to another room or search for an item, I'm just unsure

The game starts tonight at 8:00 correct? And what time zone is all the game time being regulated in.

Malrick's words sent a shiver through Kwon's bones. It couldn't be... could it? Kwon may have his disagreements with his fellow townsfolk, but what family didn't? The actual fact of the matter was the he trusted many of these people with his life. For one of them to betray that trust... No. He just couldn't accept it.

Although... he thought, eyeing Drell suspiciously. And then he realized that the accursed Tineye was listening in on his personal conversation! Why, he had half a mind...

He looked back at Malrick. He had turned away, dealing with Cylkan the Lamplighter. Still, It would be poor manners to start a fight in his friend's place of work. But Drell had better not run into Kwon on the way home that night.

Nope.  Daytime powers like allomantic brass, allomantic zinc, and feruchemical duralumin are the only actions that can be taken during the day.

And yes, the game will start tonight.  Signups will close at 8:00 pm PDT.

This game looks wonderfully complex, and with so much new blood to spill, it should be quite interesting. I might not be very active for the first few cycles, but I really want to play.

I'll sign up as Ella, the village baker.

Alright everyone.  We have an important change of rules.

The idea for contingency plans was to make it so you wouldn't waste an action even if your target wasn't in the room with you.  It's grown to be a monstrous mess of conditional statements.  So now we're simplifying what you can do with contingency plans.

You can only have a contingency plan for an action that requires a target.  You can only have one contingency per action period.

You can still say "Target Newan.  If Newan isn't there, target Aonar."  Or you can say "Target random.  If nobody is there, sleep." or something to that effect.

You can't say "Target Newan.  If Newan isn't there, target Wandrin.  If Wandrin isn't there, target Riitiidiikiiiir.  If Riitiidiikiiiir isn't there..."

You also can't say "Move West.  If this wouldn't work, move South."

Sorry to mix things up on you, but it was necessary.

One more small rule change: The "pair of spikes" item can now be used on NPCs.  You can charge your iron spikes with human strength by targeting The Mayor in one action period and Malrick's nephew in another, or something like that.  You can still use the two attacks on players if you want to, but remember that they will only be charged if they succeed in killing that player.

Also, remember that if you use a spike to attack a player, and that attack does not succeed in killing them, the spike is lost.

Because of this change, "pair of spikes" is now an awesome item, and will be more difficult to find.

We've finally broken the 30-player highscore!  :D

Indeed.  Many congratulations Newan for reaching the highest number of players signed up.  31 players will make this a very interesting game and that's not even counting the mistwraths that may join.

Question, can we kill the mistwraths before they become Kandra?

Thank you.  I was hoping it would be the craziest game yet, and now it's really winding up to be just that!

Nope, you can't.  But I like how you're thinking.
