After deliberation, I am sad to say I will be sitting out of this game. :( I must give many kudos, props, and upvotes to Newan and Aonar for coming up with this masterpiece though! This game really does look spectacular! It's just that I've been not nearly as active as I'd like to have been in the last few games (and current!) I've been in, so I know I won't be able to give the time dedication to this game that it deserves! (I might consider joining the Spectator Doc and Mistwraith it up though after awhile....) ;)

/makes a note that there will be at least one of Odium's Champions available as a mistwraith

Question, If you want to look for an item and you don't want to be in the same room as another person can you say [search for item in A2, if any one is in A2 move to A3] would that take two action periods or one?

I'd like to join under the name of Kwon (My username happily lines up with Terris naming conventions). Despite the fact that nearly half the population of the village seem to be 'secret' worldhoppers, I'm just going to be a Realmatically ignorant local; there are at least a few of those living hereabouts, right?

Kwon is a metalsmith by trade. He forges most of the Twinborn Village's metallic goods: tableware, nails, fastenings, and other day-to-day wares. Because of the high number of Allomancers and Ferrings in town, he also works as a metallurgist, mixing pure alloys for use in metal vials and metalminds.

Kwon's job brings him into contact with his fellow residents on a regular basis, and most of the town is on fairly good terms with him. Dealing with as many people as he does, he hears a lot of news and gossip, and he is usually fairly clued in to the goings-on of the town. He's considered going into business as an information broker, but eventually decided that he preferred his simple townsman's life to one shrouded in secrets and lies. That said, he is still fairly open with what he knows; unless he sees a good reason to keep something in confidence, he'll share it with anyone who seems interested.

Recently, the rumor mill has been getting darker and darker, and words like 'murder' and 'spiked' have been thrown around with alarming frequency. Kwon loves his peaceful life, but he can see the inevitable. His wares may soon expand to include swords, knives, and other instruments of death.

Hello, everyone! This is my first game of Elimination, and I have precious little roleplaying experience. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should read or do to prepare myself for the game?

Read previous games, if you have a lot of time. I promise not to kill you on your first cycle. I'm sure you'll RP fine.

The trouble with that is that (apart from the time investment), a lot of the actual game seems to take place in PMs. The docs are on record, and those have helped me to understand how the game is played, but generally only from a Mafia perspective. Most of the actual posts seem to be entirely RP, which is nice, and fun to read, but not altogether informative.

Also, there are... a few more rules this go 'round than usual :). How much of that should I have down before the game begins?

All newbies, meet in the upper left cave for a party. And welcome, all of you! It was only a few games back that I had my first one... ah, nostalgia. I would advise keeping a spreadsheet of stuff you know. While not as vital here as in MR5, it still will be useful, particularly since this is a long game and if you are a seeker/tineye/windwhisper.

Moving to another room takes an action period.  So if you wanted to move to another room and then search for an item, it would take at least two action periods.

I'll make sure to Spike you into the Game just for the Chaos and Paranoia it'll cause.

That's one less bogeyman to watch out for. Wonder where Wyrm is...

This sounds uncomfortably like a trap to me... I may be new to this particular game, but I've played deception-based games like Mafia in person before (in fact, The Resistance is among my favorite tabletop games). There may be a huge difference between playing online and playing in person, but I'm pretty sure the twitchy, paranoid, half-crazed instinct to trust no one is still valid. If anything, the extended time for plotting and discussion, the much larger player base, and the potential for exclusive communication (PMs and docs) should allow for an even more terrifying web of intrigue.

Thanks for your advice -- I will absolutely be recording information like you recommend -- but I may have to decline your party invitation.

I've noticed a few people have included white text in their posts. In general, does information communicated this way tend to be important? So far, I think it's all been just for fun, but then, so far, no one has any secret information to share. Should I be highlighting every post I read, just in case?

Also, it occurred to me that whenever someone is drawn in mid-game, every single person playing is going to know as a matter of course that that player is a kandra. Is this intentional?

Excellent instincts, youngling. I was merely attempting to cull the weak before they drag me down with them. No, not actually. I just saiid that for no reason. Probably carry-over fromQF6, when each room had a PM. Re the white text: it might be, but almost certainly not becuse ots kind obvious. With the kandra, if one te got an extra player ualfway through, it would be kinda unfair. So they really havr to be a kandra also the mechanics make it so with Blessings.

Ah Gamma's patented ParanoiaTM is hard at work even when Gamma's not in the game...  :P

They must be after you too. You just aren't as observant as I am. I'm actually not paranoid at all. It's not paranoia if they're actually out to get you.

Acer Tuy didn't want to be here, but someone had to bite the bullet. Someone had to protect the village. There wasn't any place else he could go. He had to protect this place.

Signing up again. This game looks really complicated, so let's hope I'm able to keep up with all the intrigue. Also, hello to all our new players. I hope you guys enjoy this game.

Karlin surveyed the village from the hilltop

"blast, it would have been much easier to leave as soon as this started" he muttered to himself as the mist began to coil around his ankles "I've gotten myself into a whole mess of trouble this time haven't I" he said before slinking off into the darkness.

I don't know where Meta and Gamma are though.

Meta's not here yet, if I recall.

That's one less bogeyman to watch out for.

Be careful what you ask for! ;)

Malrick was confounded by all of the "outsiders" who had somehow found their way into their isolated little village.

"What was the Founders' point of secluding us all away if every ash-covered traveler could so easily find their way to us?" He'd mumble as he pretended to clean a glass.

Even so, he couldn't complain too much. His great-great-great grandfather had supposedly been one of the Founders and, in his infinite wisdom, had carved out the alehouse that Malrick now ran out of the prime real estate that was Town Square (his ancestors were incredibly astute hagglers). After all, even back during the beginning, his great-great-great grandfather knew that the Founders needed a place to relax and enjoy themselves. Though they were relatively regarded as ancient, almost religious figures now, Malrick's ancestors knew them to be humans with human needs.

So Malrick bit his tongue about the newcomers. They were (mostly) human and thus, they would have need of his services and they'd increase his coffers. He cleaned his glasses as best he could in a cavern that seemed to fight him every step of the way with its deposits. The added stress these "outsiders," whether they be Spiked or long forgotten villagers or travelers or just rumors thrown to the wind, they just added to the chaos.

All that concerned him was maintaining his family's name. Let it not be said that Malrick A'Lees was the last of his name!

So he smiled to every customer and made small talk with those too far into their drink. It was surprising what you could learn when people were twice past tipsy....

Every good town needs a good meeting place and since we have so many people that want to be either newcomers or don't have an occupation, Malrick will fill this hole! :)

The biggest question I have (that I'm surprised no one has asked yet) is about the phases during the night turn. How do they work exactly? Let's say, for example, that someone protects themselves/others during their first turn. Does that carry on through the rest of their turns? Do the protection roles not only have to guess whom to protect, but also the phase that someone would attack in or does it follow through to additional phases? If someone says, "I'm protecting ____" as their first action, but an attack happens on said person during the third phase, does that protection count?

If not, this seems like an incredible boon to the Spiked team, as they already have a 1/3 chance of avoiding any protection (though there seems like there could be quite a lot of it available). Plus, the Spiked have the added benefit of exploiting the twinborn system more until the village gains traction. They can use their powers far more effectively early, which could allow them to steamroll this game.

Just something I noticed. If this has been accounted for, feel free to give me a P.A.F.O. ;)

Let the games begin!

EDIT: Also, I put forth the motion that GMs should be allowed to decide the occupation of any player that doesn't give one! I also suggest that the GMs be as hilarious/evil as possible when deciding such roles for said players. I think that would not only be great fun for the GMs, but would throw an entire new dynamic on player relations! :D

Metacognition said that the GM should assign roles to payers that don't give them (sorry I don't know how to quote an individual line)

If someone requested a role at the beginning do they get it, I was under the impression that it would be random despite RPing and introductions to make things fair, but I'm kind of confused

Edit to add: Are the spiked twinborn as well as being spiked? Do they only have one spike or multiple? Do they have preset allomantic or feruchemic abilities from their spikes?
