My character hates the Law. And Taxes.

CD will actively do things purely for the reason that they are illegal.

He will have a knife in his hand, see someone standing there, and think "murder is illegal"

And um... You see where that would go.

That's it. I won the game. I found the evildoer. @Aeoryi, can I have my Shardplate now?

Ah but there are more evildoers and ne'er do wells afoot.

Some might even have hands, too.

ha

imagine having hands

*looks at strange hand-shaped and hand-colored things on arms*

I don't think these are hands

QF76: Cycle 1 - Special Cases

Skybreaker Uranihran didn’t like special cases. Special cases were exemptions, false and unfair applications of the law. But he didn’t disagree with orders, no. And he wasn’t to decide what was fair and what wasn’t. But this was a special case, this group of hopefuls.

He watched from above as the group of hopefuls approached the Purelake. Some had never seen the lake. Others seemed more familiar with its abnormal appearance. Uranihran always watched every group approach the lake. It was a bit of a tradition.

Uranihran jumped from the rocky outcrop he was crouched on, lashing himself upwards to lighten the fall. He approached the group. “Hopefuls. You have come here to participate in one of my missions, to potentially gain my favor in advancing you in your pursuit of radiance.”

“However,” he continued in Azish, “This task is not one of mine. This task is one of yours. No interference will be made by me at any point in any of this.”

“You have not reached the point at which you are pardoned.” Uranihran spoke softly, clasping his hands in front of him. “I have done investigations into all of you. Your history, your name, your record. Your secrets.”

He met the eyes of each of the hopefuls. They did not hide their fear. That would have to change. “Becoming a Skybreaker requires more than just a few words. It requires lessons.”

“This task is simple. There are lawbreakers amongst you. You must find them and punish them. Do so, and your journey to becoming a Skybreaker shall advance. You will have a chance to speak the words, to finally join us in the skies.”

A pause was added for effect. “One of the lessons that you will need to learn as a Skybreaker is one of consequence. If you fail to find all of the evildoers, all of the lawbreakers within your group, they will be let free."

There was silence. Finally, a hopeful spoke up. “Skybreaker, do you not punish those who have broken the law? How is releasing known criminals following the law?”

“This is a question of natural consequence. When law enforcement fails to find a criminal, does that make the law enforcer responsible for their crimes? No. You will not be legally accountable. Neither will I.”

“If you know who the evildoers are, then why haven’t you dealt with them?”

Uranihran did not waver. “They are not my responsibility. They are yours.”

The Skybreaker lashed himself upwards to prevent any more backtalk. Soon, they would begin discussing, and in the morning, they would pronounce the person they believed to be guilty. Then, the lessons would start.

I am reaching, but I fall
And the stars are black and cold
As I stare into the void
Of a world that cannot hold
I'll escape now from that world
From the world of Jean Valjean
There is nowhere I can turn
There is no way to go oooooooooooon!!!!

Javert opened his eyes. He was drenched. His coat was dripping with muddy water, and behind him flowed the Seine. He felt cold. Was this...Paradise?

A man stood before him, wearing a crisp black and silver uniform. Dark of skin, a pale scar on his cheek. Authority radiated from him, and Javert straightened instinctively.

Javert frowned. “Who are you?”

“You know me.”

And… he did. Instinctively. He had never met this man before, but…somehow...

“I threw myself off a bridge.”

“And I restored you. A drowned man only needs the proper ministrations.”

“Who are you?”

“You, Javert, revere order, do you not? You follow the law of your society to perfection. This attracted me, though I fear that emotion has clouded your ability to discern. Your ability to...judge.”

Judgement.

“You are...Justice?”

“Herald of Justice, though not of your world.”

“Why save me? Was my torment not enough?”

“These words are foolishness, said Justice, unbecoming of one who would study beneath me.”

“...Study?” He squeezed his eyes shut, remembering that terrible, terrible choice that had torn him apart. “I want to be judged.”

“I watched you pursue a breaker of the law, tireless, relentless. Your dedication to your personal code is one to be admired. You kept your word to the law with perfection - the only genuine beauty left to the world. I judge you, and have found you worthy of the Skybreakers.”

“The...skybreakers?”

“Come along. Your training begins immediately.”

I wrote this as a joke eight years ago but this is finally paying off 😂

Richard was here; he had no idea how, but he was here. The blacksmith looked out over the lake. It was strange how calming it seemed. He listened with half an ear to the Skybreaker who'd talked to them, "There are Lawbreakers amongst you." He repeated quietly. He started to wonder who it could be; he ran through everyone in his head, and all seemed just as likely as the next. I'll just have to wait and see.

CD was confused. He knew in his heart that he was not a lawbreaker. It wasn't logical or anything, it was just a deep indescribable unignorable feeling. He tried to remember his past, but for this time, he was Innocent.

So who wasn't?

Hey

busy tmrw and feeling sick so probably won't be active for the first cycle, but excited to get into it on Friday!

Wishikk could not hide the nervousness in his body, so instead, he chose to focus on the thrill. This was it. Finally. A shot at redemption.

The screams... the explosion... and the flames. They all still resided in his memory, thumping to a steady beat to remind him of the failures of his past. And he had failed. The fabrial had worked, yes. But that had turned out to be the problem. So the past continued to thump. But the thrill... the thrill was something else. It beckoned to be heard. And Wishikk was ready to listen.

Anything to forget the flames.

The other artifabrians - those able to - thought he was dead. He didn't know how to feel about that; thankfully, there were more pressing topics at hand. The Contact's instructions were clear; go to the Purelake. Contact the Skybreakers. Within them, find redemption.

So... yeah. Here we are. I don't have a lot of time tonight, and I won't be super free tomorrow either, but I'll try to stay as active as I can.

@Doc12@CoderDrag0n8@IcedOutPenguin, loving the RP, but we should also take advantage of the fact we can communicate freely out of character.

For now, I'm gonna poke at @StrikerEZ. Reminds me of the good old days... (*cough* a month ago)

Var/Striker.

Lol, I know, it's just always nice to be in character for a first post, especially if there's no one to communicate with.

I personally think of everyone so far that it's CD, but I have no reason to think that

His first post, for the entire things, he's selling his innocence so hard, I think it is suspicious.

That’s cool

It’s a lot of fun 😋

Start out by just experimenting

And be bold

The loudest people are normally the ones who get voted out the first, but they’re also the ones who make their voices heard

The AG is gonna kick your butt

Mine too tbh.

For context, the AG (anniversary game) is nearly pure roleplay for the first two cycles, and I'm even worse than normal at forming reads.

In my experience, quiet people last longer just because there isn’t substantial evidence to accuse them on

Remember, I was in the all RP Black Lake LG (Kéamen Wither)

Although we did lose that one…
