QF76 - Judgement on the Shores of the Purelake

Hello! Welcome! You and your companions have been selected to become Skybreakers at the Purelake, although your first task awaits you. The Skybreakers have done serious background investigation into all of you and they have found that some of you are guilty of assorted crimes, some minor, some more serious than others. Your first task is simple: can you find those who hide from the eyes of the law, and will you deliver justice?

~

I’m Aeoryi, and I’ll be your GM for this game. @Araris Valerian will be your IM. This game is scheduled to start on Wednesday, August 6th 9:00 PM ET. Cycles are 24 hours in length, so rollovers happen at 9:00 PM ET. The game requires at least eight players to run.

Rules can be found using the link here, or in the spoiler below:

QF76 - Judgement on the Shores of the Purelake

General Rules:

Day and night are combined into one cycle. This cycle is 24 hours in length.

Each cycle, there is a majority execution. The player with the most votes is eliminated. Ties are broken by randomly killing a player within that tie.

Voting is to be done in Bolded Red, unvoting to be done in Bolded Green. Votes which are not bolded may be missed by the GM and votes which are not in color are not counted.

Inactivity Filter: 2 Cycles (48 hours). I will remind you if you forget to post, but if you don't post for two consecutive cycles, I will replace you with a pinch-hitter (if available) or you may be removed from the game. Please ensure that you contact me or the IM in advance if you are unsure if you are able to meet this activity requirement.

Alignments:

Evildoers: Those who must be completely eradicated for the group to move on. They share factional communication (as all people who commit petty crimes do) and a factional kill to er, disqualify a person each cycle.

Justice Seekers: Those who are innocent and seek justice and follow the ways of the Skybreakers shall be tested. They have no extra information, and their only advantage is their number. If the number of justice seekers and evildoers is ever the same, the task (and their success in the game) is over. Just to be a little extra harsh, should you fail, the evildoers will all be released as an “incentive” to do well.

(Evildoers win at parity with non-evildoers, and are the standard eliminator faction. Justice seekers win when all evildoers are eliminated)

Roles:

Roles in blue are exclusive to the Justice Seeker faction, roles in red are exclusive to the evildoers faction.

Thinker

Up to X times per game, may target a player to learn who they visited on that cycle. If the thinker discovers that their target did target another player, they are given an extra usage of their first ability that they must use on the next cycle. Any additional usages will not have this returning capability.

Protector

Up to X times per game, may target any player to protect them from being killed. A protector may not protect themselves or any other player who has the Protector role.

Leader

Up to X times per game, may target any player to prevent them from making any actions. A leader may not be roleblocked by another leader.

Innocent

Has no special abilities

Thief

Up to X times per game, the Thief may target any player to prevent them from making any actions on that cycle.

Murderer

Up to X times per game, the Murderer may carry the factional kill to make it unblockable.

Conspirator

Up to X times per game, the Conspirator may remove one player’s vote.

Liar

Up to X times per game, the Liar may target any player to prevent them from being targeted by all abilities for that cycle.

Mastermind

Up to X times per game, the Mastermind may target a player to learn who targeted that player. The Mastermind cannot be seen targeting another player by the Thinker.

Discrepancy Rules:

Spoiler

Discrepancy Rules:

  • Every player can have only one role and one alignment.
  • Every player can have only one role and one alignment.
  • Players may only use one role action per cycle.*

  • Players who are eliminated will still have their actions that cycle take effect.

  • Players do not receive action success feedback with the exception of the Mastermind/Thinker roles.

  • Protected players will still die from execution.

  • Vote manipulation appears only on the final votecount. Note that only the numbers of votes are adjusted.

  • Survivals are not announced, although kills are differentiated. (Between execution and factional kill)

  • Charges have to be used on separate cycles.

  • Usages typically denoted by “X” are not universal and can be different for different players.

  • Evildoers can use the factional kill in addition to their one role action per cycle (so yes, they can carry both).

  • The evildoer who submits the kill action functionally uses it as an action, meaning it can be Roleblocked by a Leader or seen by a Thinker

  • Charges still are used if a role attempts to use an action and it fails.

  • Order of Operations is: Murderer, Liar, Thief/Leader, Conspirator, Protector, Thinker, Mastermind, All deaths.

  • Every role is capable of self targeting except for Protectors.

Quick question, when you say "visit", you mean target, right?

Yes, visit and target are interchangeable. It's just to help with the Tom targets Tim targeted Timmy to track that target talk. Functionally, they both mean the same thing.

@Aeoryi, I was looking through the rules, and could you clarify the Murderer role? I don’t really get it

If the Murderer uses their ability, the kill will be unable to be Roleblocked or Protected, meaning that it will always kill its target.  For this to happen, they have to "carry" the factional kill (meaning if they are targeted by the Thinker, they will be seen targeting the player who was killed).

Long story short, murderer ability makes the factional kill always succeed at the cost of them having to be functionally using the night kill as an action.

Thus instantly recognizable as Evildoers. How is the nightkill able to be roleblocked?

I'll update the rules to make this more clear, but the factional kill always has to be "carried" by a member of the Evildoers. If that player carrying the factional kill is Roleblocked, the kill fails. Other things I might as well clarify:

  • Charges still are used if a role attempts to use an action and it fails.
  • Charges still are used if a role attempts to use an action and it fails.

  • Order of Operations is: Murderer, Liar, Thief/Leader, Conspirator, Protector, Thinker, Mastermind, All deaths.

  • Every role is capable of self targeting except for Protectors.

  • Araris Valerian changed the title to Quick Fix 76 [Signups]: Judgement on the Shores of the Purelake

Thatonetath could be a cool Rosharan name (at least for symmetry, not sure if it sounds right)
