She snuggled up to her hand.

Jidah smiled.

You're a good friend, Lati.

Does your watch have any magical properties besides providing you longevity?

She reached out to touch her again.

"No," he lied.

"It-I have anger issues. A-And sometimes I-I lash out. That is d-dangerous." Latent said, her voice shaky.

What does your watch do?

It was clear she knew he was lying.

She tilted her head. "Wouldn't it be easier to deal with your anger issues than to depend on Oxy all the time?"

"It-I try. I try. Its just... If I do lash out, bad bad things always happen. Always." Latent muttered.

"It's easy! Just stop caring." She flipped upside down. "True power is knowing you don't need it."

“Jidah’s in this village. We’re just gonna go see her. I found you in Açila by following the beacon she’d arrived in Customs with.”

“Interesting. Do you mind if I follow? Plot seems to be coagulating here, and, unlike my colleagues, I actually care for a good ending.”

"Not at all." He gestured to the open door.

"I-I cant. I have a family. I need to protect them. Even if it means hurting others. The day I stop caring is the day everything ends."

"Then don't care about the small things. Realize that every time you flip out over small things, you risk all the big things." She shrugged like it was nothing.

She curled up against the side of her neck again and yawned.

"So . . . can we leave now?"

"I... leave?Uh... I... I don't..."

“Mmmhhhh… but how do you define the ‘big things’? How do you define the small things? Oft when one is seen to ‘flip out’, what they are ‘flipping out’ over is by no means a small thing to them.”

Ver turned to him. He had heard the spectres of Eternity talk about things like "plot" and "ending" often, but he still didn't understand what they were talking about. It was time to find out.

"On that topic, I think it's time for you to explain exactly what you mean by that. You claim to have a stake in our quest, but have offered very little information about your intentions. We thank you for your help against the Cloud, but we need to know we can trust you."

“Hhmm… ok. Let me explain. SoW is a super ultra powerful being, but he divides his power between three Aspects. Me, Spirit, and Wrath. He charges us with a singular goal: end the chaos. Not an end of the world, necessarily, and not an everyone happy ending. Well… it could be either. He just wants it done. No more chaos. Spirit agrees, I think. Wrath and I don’t, but we also don’t agree with each other. Wrath… he advocates for the chaos. Tries to bring it wherever he goes.”

He paused. “I’m not very radical. All I want is a happy ending.”

"As the mortals would say, Word. I too am against the end of the world. I would not love if SoW or Spirit try and bring it about faster.

That... made a little bit of sense, but there was still a lot left vague.

"Define the "chaos". If by chaos you refer to free will, then your leader could be as big of a threat to be dealt with as the Cloud."
