Fatebreaker he/him Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Splitting this into two posts because of the amount of info in each. This is Cipher's bio, Kobold: Epic Name: Cipher Human Name: Cindy Griffin Weakness: <PM'd to the GM> Primary Power: Able to memorize languages and translate them in a small amount of time. Can do the same with codes. Passive Power: Perfect memory. Appearance: Her brown hair is beginning to gray. She's short and heavier, but still holding on to vestiges of her beauty. Age: 47 Home City: Boston, MA Weaponry: None. Cindy had been a linguistics professor at a university for some time when Calamity hit. She was studying an ancient text when she realized that she could understand what it said perfectly. She noticed patterns in her subconscious and quickly translated the entire language. She had no other powers, so moved from town to town, working for any high Epics. Just last year, she decided to settle in the Dalles and work for Vondra. And here's War Smasher's: Epic Name: War Smasher Human Name: Sam Waller Weakness: <PM'd to the GM> Primary Power: Force fields. Able to create force fields with up to a twenty foot radius. He can create them with himself as the center or he can create it somewhere else, but only a maximum of fifteen meters away. The force fields block all materials from entering or exiting. The force fields have a slight blueish tint. Secondary Power: He is able to control his own density as well as objects he is touching. He can increase his/objects' density, making them impervious. Or he can decrease density, allowing him to be intangible, semi-transparent, and he can float around. He often lowers a part of his body's density, eg his hand, and reaches inside someone and then increases the density of his hand, causing extreme pain or death. Appearance: He is tall and broad with dirty blond hair. He's muscular and works out so that he can have maximum strength when he hits something. He wears jeans with tight t shirts. He, to have a distinctive mark, wears a dark blue gloves that Metalmech reinforced with metal. Age: 32 Home City: Cheyenne, WY Weaponry: A rifle, but he doesn't use weapons often. He was a football assistant coach at a high school. He had been a star linebacker and had also boxed. He loves fighting for the thrill of it and usually fights without weapons. What do you think of the name The Destructors for the quartet of Epics? I'm still open on this one. Cipher sounds neat. War Smasher kinda sounds like a mix of Fade and Guardian. Guardian makes forcefields, Fade becomes insubstantial and can make it real inside of people. He also is an expert in hand to hand combat... If this were Hollywood I would be suing for royalties. But thankfully it's not, so all I ask is that you do such an awesome character justice with awesome writing. Now I just need to find a logical explanation for The Dalles City Guard calling its prison "The Stormcage." Isn't the fact that it's an awesome name explanation enough?
Edgedancer he/him Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Here's an approximate timeline for my epics: mine added in green. Early 2022: Reader assists Remington Springfield by betraying Koschei's weakness to him. Really? Spoiler? I based his powers somewhat off of Marvel's hero, Vision. From the wiki page about his powers: "The Vision also possesses the ability to manipulate his density, which at its lowest allows flight and a ghostly, phasing intangibility, and at its heaviest provides superhuman strength, immovability, and a diamond-hard near invulnerability. The Vision is capable of reaching a density ten times greater than that of depleted uranium." That's kinda what I was aiming for. Firmness sounds right to me. I'm not sure. That was an option, unless we want these guys to hasten Portland's ruin. I created them for the fun of it and am now trying to decide what to do. Comic book science, that explains a lot. I see. Feel free to add them. Though, they probably wouldn´t have much succes "destroying" Astoria, if they just travel around to honor their name. Maaaaaaaaybe As for the timeline, I'm in favour of putting it in the EoO thread. 2014: PP and Saccharine, recently married join a military research facility dedicated to studying Epics. 2016: The Capitulation act begins affecting the effective running of the lab, the researchers and military personell shift their base of operations to somewhere off the books to prevent reprisals. 2020: Capture of the Energy Epic who will later destroy their laboratory. 2021: Saccharine manifests her powers July 2022: Energy Epic destroys the research facility, Purple Phoenix manifests his powers and dies for the first time, resulting in the formation of the Protector personality. May 2023: Impact and MV manifest their abilities. Wait! Wait! Wait! PP didn´t notice that his wife turned into an Epic for about a year? (and why didn´t switch the facility to the much safer chromoson research, you know, to avoid being massacared by one of those evil super humans that have all the reason to want you death.) Edgedancer, I think I know at least slightly what it's like to write for Nighthound. For dropping someone down a chasam? Try fusing Miner and Reader. Edited November 5, 2014 by Edgedancer 1
Voidus Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Wait! Wait! Wait! PP didn´t notice that his wife turned into an Epic for about a year? (and why didn´t switch the facility to the much safer chromoson research, you know, to avoid being massacared by one of those evil super humans that have all the reason to want you death.) They were both a little odd even pre-calamity, he noticed changes in her behaviour but didn't connect it to her being an Epic, I imagine they would have tried research based solely on genetics too but having a living Epic probably would have sped things along considerably was my reasoning, personally I find it rather difficult to understand how it would be possible to research Epic powers based solely on mDNA, you'd have to sequence the DNA, replicate it, create functioning mitochondria out of it and then potentially need to clone an entire human, I mean I suppose you could use a heck of a lot of computer power to simulate some of it but it'd take ages. So it was mostly just that they didn't want their research to be slowed down, however obviously if they had taken your advice they wouldn't have nearly been blown to pieces (But then the RP would be minus a truly epic beard, so isn't that reason enough?) 1

Who knows what exactly the mutations does to them and DNA is ultimately a method to transfer information, so who knows. Having what might be a blueprint seems like it might be more effective to me than just watching something that´s either to dangerous to approach or just plain impossible to comprehend using physics. For example the Epic used as a basis for the Gaus gun, Rick o´Shea. How are you going to research him, if that means you have to give him highly unstable exposives? Alas, we´ll probably never know. Then again my hopes for Epic research are kind of low, given that I doubt they´ll manage to completely break physics and are going to need obscene amounts of energy. On other new, I´m wondering what I should write next. Lucentia would be very shorth, Voidgaze´s return to Thoughttown would be a bit premature, if we stick with the plan of her arriving when the attack is under way, and I´m still working out the details for Nighthound´s evening plans. Talking about NH´s evening plans, Twi did you want a chance for the Unicyclist to meet Ray?

If he does, it could be a chance for him to angst a bit over the secret crush he's had on her for a while; if not, he'll sit and think about how much he wants to punch Nighthound directly in the face. (Not that it's a unique ambition, of course.) So however you wanted to do it, that's fine.

Or would wars break out over who got to punch him first? Yep. Any spot-on predictions for the next one? It´s the only chance we have at world peace, so let´s not waste it. Around the same probably. I wonder which song would be better to inspire Nighthound´s next slaughter Heat-Haze Days or Konoha's State of the World. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Yep. Any spot-on predictions for the next one? There will be jokes. There will be ponies. There will be re-written songs. There will be awesomeness. 2

There will be much shipping. And theories. For instance: I postulate that the Financier would like Mobius. Why? Maybe this time with Lightwards. Nighthound would be a decent subject for the game where you stuff him into a barrel and stick swords in it, not using fake ones of course. Knowing his weakness wasn't enough for her? O.o The more failsafes she has the better for her, she´s really not in the mood for the need to defend her claim on her territory.

I suppose Finnigan should be somewhat flattered she thinks him powerful enough to need a failsafe. Still--yikes. And we say Lightwards is paranoid. It´s available in our imagination. The failsafe doesn´t need a lot of work to set up, so there´s no reason not to install it. How much she needs it with Finnigan kinda depends on how insane he is at the moment. (A hint for those of you trying to figure it out: it depends on an Epic´s powers but not on Lucentia´s.)

Most of the time, he's just very neurotic, muttering about evil numbers and screaming obscenities whenever a budget report is left on his desk. He does have a dream of one day multiplying Lucentia by zero, but he doesn't voice it. Let me guess: Bloody Mary?

Mailliw73 he/him Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 You want them to destroy an Epic rehab center? Where some Epics are rehabilitated with puppies and kittens? YOU MONSTER! Feel free to add them. Though, they probably wouldn´t have much succes "destroying" Astoria, if they just travel around to honor their name. True. Ethics smethics. It's green arrows that count. (I actually have no idea. The Big Four there are pretty strong, but I think The Destructors have a chance. They all have PIs and offensive powers as well as tanks and weapons. Yeah. Lucentia's posse is strong, but they're by no means undefeatable. I think the Destructors would have a chance, as would Blackwave. 1
