TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 I'll get a Pan post up soon, then.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Maybe Sightline doesn't know his own weakness yet? Steelheart tells us that not all Epics do at first. He could control them, but if they were given contradicting orders, they would default towards the real one. Same goes with recordings--he has a weak mental link with his Warriors. It's weak, but it's enough to tip the balance in his favor. As a side note, "Flash Revolution" just randomly joined the list of awesome ship names featuring Revolution. I saw a WoB somewhere where he said that in Firefight we will learn how Epics learn their weakness. I assumed that all Epics did. And, even if that's wrong, I'm pretty sure Joe said Sightline did. Oh. Interesting and by interesting, I mean, Altermind will think of this next time a fight happens between the two. I'll get a Pan post up soon, then. Cool. And I think having Pan hear it come over the mobile is the better option. Something like, "Flashpoint, Scorch is dead. Corpsemaker's minion just brought me his head. The traitor wasn't worth enough to his new boss, I guess." 1
Curiosity he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Popping to tell all of you RP'ers that What Happened in Oregon is so fun to read and is now sort of like my own little TV show. I am impressed by the quality of the writing (should have realized that this would be so, since we are on an author's fansite after all) and the characterization is fascinating. I hope the fun will continue for... well, as many Questions as it takes. 5

And I would give you an upvote to show my gratitude if Quota would release his stranglehold on this forum. Oh well. Hope to entertain you for many months to come, and if you're the sort that likes a few nightmares in October, we'll be running a month-long Halloween RP with the most terrifying Epics we can think of. Again, I'm glad you like it!
Fatebreaker he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Nighthound is so unlovable, dogs steadfastly refused to lick him even when Funtimes covered him in gravy. Dinosaurs voluntarily drive themselves to re-extinction just to get away from Nighthound. People from the Dark Alley have to flatten the hairs on the backs of their necks following any Nighthound speech. Assuming no one calls them over, I think Nathan, Sam, and Revolution are distant enough from the other characters to have an independent turn order of their own. We'd spike him, but who'd want to keep him around? It'd be a misuse of baking.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Mailliw, I added Panacea's bit to the end of my last post. Tell me if Altermind sounds out of character and I'll edit. Also, Nighthound never gets sick because even germs find him repulsive. Edited September 23, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles

I like to think that we all pick up a few tricks from Brandon Sanderson as we pore over his work over and over again. Hope you get to keep watching your little TV show for quite a while to come! We're 30 pages in, and it's so much fun nobody seems to mind how far we are from our goal. 2

We're 30 pages in, and it's so much fun nobody seems to mind how far we are from our goal. We have a goal…..? Oh. Right. Destroying Oregon. We'll get there. Eventually. After Lightwards has a few more strokes and eats an exploding cupcake. 4
Tulir he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Well, Lightwards' empire is growing rapidly, especially if Aldo comes back with Backtrack, the momentum twins, Parity, Sacharine, PP, Sandman and Fade. They would be a pretty strong coalition, that could end doing a decent bit of damage to Oregon. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I only realized after I posted that I might have gone overboard with Sam and Revolution's dialogue. Tulir, Fatebreaker any ideas on how Aldo and co. can come across your respective Epics? Shall they just spot them on the street? 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 I only realized after I posted that I might have gone overboard with Sam and Revolution's dialogue. No, no, it's totally fine. I already know how to work with that.
Kobold King he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 No, no, it's totally fine. I already know how to work with that. OK, cool. I just have a lot of fun writing the pair of them and tend to get carried away. Looking forward to seeing how you work with it. 1
Tulir he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Tulir, Fatebreaker any ideas on how Aldo and co. can come across your respective Epics? Shall they just spot them on the street? Parity may probably throw a black sphere at a building near Fade soon, which will probably prompt another mass rush of rats.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 so how does he plan on teleporting out of the museum and why is he not freaking out? His Weakness simply means he can't affect Lightwards. He can still Teleport, just not Anything touching glasses. He also can't seethrough the Glasses. Maybe Sightline doesn't know his own weakness yet? No. I'm pretty sure Joe said Sightline did. Yes. AndI'm behind again, what Exactly was Sightline supposed to reply to?

Lightwards asked when Altermind would be available for another council. Then one of his disobedient raptors tried to eat Funtimes and Nighthound brought an evil parade into the Museum. 3

Kobold King he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I'm still laughing over this last part. I'm dedicated to calling things by what they are. (Glad you approve. ) I want to make another post between now and the time I go to bed, but I can't seem to find it in me to be half as clever as Sam and Revolution would be. It's hard writing characters who are smarter than their writer. (On another note entirely, Sam's more than smart enough to have made a home in Thoughttown. There's a reason she lives in a downtown filled with Epics instead of living somewhere safer, and that reason feeds into an active dislike for Altermind. She intends to mock and deride him at every turn if they meet.) 4
Tulir he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Mail, you could have Timeport teleport into Mundivore and Quota, as they are heading back to Corpsemaker. Or you could just have him stumble into Corpsemaker's territory by himself.

Curiosity he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Just thought of this: Can we have have more discussion of weaknesses? Not conversations about weaknesses, but when you get a bunch of Epics together that hate each other as much as Lightwards and Funtimes, they really should be trying to figure out the others' weaknesses. The only weakness that I've seen is Scorch's. I haven't been looking for foreshadowing/hints (if there's been any), so I may not have seen it. 4
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) I have no idea what's going on, but I don't have time to read the rest of the thread, so I'm just gonna post. If I mess with anything already posted, just tell me and I'll edit it. Where's CorpseMaker right now? EDIT: or at least, where's his base? The only thing you did 'Wrong' (Not really) is putting Out of character stuff. (The blue text) That's what we have this thread for. Not that that matters. Corpsemaker is at his Base, the Kliever Armory, right next to Thoughttown. Mundivore and Quota, two Epics of CorpseMaker, are nearby, so they would be willing to bring you along. Kobold King he/him Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 PP is not a huge fan of AM either, I don't expect this alliance will last too long If it's not a secret, why doesn't PP like Altermind? You'd think an Epic scientist like Jeff would approve of a more stable, intellectually oriented society. The alliance will last exactly as long as CorpseMaker does. I've hinted at Aldo the Enigmatic's weakness, but I definitely expect Lightwards and Funtimes to begin earnestly searching for one another's weaknesses now. Though neither of them are likely to succeed in their endeavors. 1

He became a scientist to help people, if AM just focussed on improving education and things like that he'd be all for him but he considers AM to be one step away from a Eugenicist, which he's definitely against. 2
