Howdy y'all. Not a bass player. I play the violin. (Don't everyone groan at once.) Nah. I quit orchestra in eighth grade and I've kinda taught myself how to play the piano. I don't really play the guitar but I have an electric guitar and I'm trying to learn. I have a harmonica too.

I love nearly every kind of music and my spotify genres are a mess. I listen to pretty much everything but hard rock and metal and stuff.

Yes. 6 of them.

Holy crap. I didn't know that was possible. Good luck if you've gotta play that.

Yeah, here's something I have to play for cello. Like seriously, come on Mr. Composer guy.

The clefs. I mean. Really?

Also, apologies, that isn't a physical copy. It looks weird because I brought the image over from the internet.

It means you alternate between 3/4 and 2/4 every measure.

So when you're counting its 1 2 3 1 2 1 2 3 1 2 and so on.

We have a piece that kind of does that between 5/8 2/4 then 9/8 I think? But the pattern isn't completely constant so each measure is a different time signature.

Wow, I guess I have a whole new thing to be scared of in music

It's not that bad. Just a bit hard to keep track of. Definitely looks scary though.

It seems more efficient to write it in 5/4 and have a note at the beginning notating the subdivisions lol

But that is really interesting

7/8 and 11/8 are really fun to play in

Yeah, we musicians can only count in multiples of two and sometimes three.

As a guy who did 10 years of piano lessons.... there are few statements that resonate with me more

Can agree about 7/8, never played 11/8 yet :P

Does anyone here like playing Jigs?

Never played one before. It sounds fun.

They're quite fun to play, usually in 6/8 or 9/8 and in tripplets.

Very fast, and very fun! Decent parts for cellos usually.

6/8 yes 100% those are so much fun to play!

can’t say I’ve tried a 9/8 yet…

Granted I’m a piano player/vocalist so jigs are fun to just mess around with on both sides of the music, singing and playing keys

I've tried playing The Dancing and the Dreaming from How To Train Your Dragon 2  on my piccolo. It's pretty fun (tho I was playing it by ear and not sheet music so it was flbldygook)

Guys, you realize it's not hard to play with weird time sigs. The biggest issue is counting rests. Otherwise you just count the notes on the page and it's easy.

Tubist out.
