Channelknight Fadran Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "That's..." Elya blinked. "Remarkable."
Frustration Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "Thanks." John said. "Where are you at? We need to meet up."
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "Heading back right now. Can you check on Ji?"
DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "Hang on. Before we leave, there's something I want to check. John, you were magically healed, right? Don't you want to see if there's someone nearby that might've done that?"
DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Quote We'll prolly have to wait till EmLee starts existing, but... Lyanör went back to where she and John had been. If there was someone, they'd have had to be able to see us, which means they can't be far. The gas was still pretty dense when he was healed... She peeked into nearby alleyways, finally finding the unconscious girl. She approached cautiously; it could still bea trap. When nothing happened, she felt for the girl's pulse. It felt fairly normal, but she had zero medical training, so she couldn't be sure. "Guys! I found someone," she called to the others. "I'm not sure what to do. So uh. Help?"
Frustration Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "Coming." John said pushing the shopping cart over. He was feeling better already. John knelt down next to the girl, her pulse and breathing were both normal and she hadn't been in the gas. "She should be fine, I need to go check on Ji." John stood and walked to where Ji was, or where he should have been. With his fear mounting John ran through the entire area just to be sure, he was correct. "Elya, we might have a problem."
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 She swore. Loudly. "Scan the area. You have to find him." Elya's hands were shaking again, but somehow she kept her voice steady. Right: there was an entire team she had to worry about here. "We can't let them interrogate him." Something occurred to her. They'd finished off their Mystic... so where was all that shooting coming from? Elya stopped at an intersection, then bore down to the right. "I think I might have an idea of where he is. Secure the area."
Frustration Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "Roger that Ma'am." John said accidentally falling back into his military habits. John took out his gun and made a quick perimiter around where they were.
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 All the sounds were coming from a consistent location: that made it easy to pinpoint. Elya ran up a street, leapt between a series of iron railings, then flung herself onto a rooftop. Lights, that's a lot of smoke. Elya leapt between two buildings, keeping at a consistent pace. This was a much more familiar setting--running through the city, tracking down a target. She put her breathing back under control, straining her eyes to fix them on the smoke and the distant building. This was something well worth focusing on. "Hold out for me, Ji..." Elya muttered. @xinoehp512 @Mystic Syn
2EmLee2 Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Alissya’s eyes slowly opened. Where am I? Oh, right. She sat up and noticed the people around her. She couldn’t tell if they were friend or foe- she was too tired to think through that. Her hand moved close to her boot where she had hidden a knife, just in case the group was hostile.
Quivil Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Kazh crouched down next to Alissya. "Did you heal our friend?"
Mystic Syn she/her Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 4 hours ago, Channelknight Fadran said: "Hold out for me, Ji..." Elya muttered. Ji was not holding out. The more Pacis he deposed of, even more came to replace the few. His attacks were slowing. His breath becoming heavier and heavier. Hoodie drenched in his own sweat, perhaps a little bit of blood. The more the Pacis shot and dissipated his blades, the harder it was becoming to concentrate on summoning more. The powers they wielded became more varied, from growing plants to shooting random bursts of energy before backing away. They chipped away at his blades, getting closer to him. Grace was picking them off––very well, in fact––but there always seemed to be more. It came to the point of his inner layer of shorter blades, fending off the Pacis that surrounded him. Ji panted, throwing his hand to the side, the blades following suit and taking out a few Pacis that were replaced in seconds. CRACK Something struck his shoulder, sending him flying across the room. A flash of burning pain shot up his left arm before disappearing completely. His ears rang with a high pitched whine; his ragged, quick breathing being the only thing he could hear clearly. Blurs surrounded him, focusing as time went on. One of them seemed to have electricity crackling up their hand? "Do you give in?" the Pacis soldier said, sounding very muffled, as if they were trying to speak through fifty layers of blankets. "As long–" His chest heaved for breath as Ji slowly got up on his feet "–as long as... I'm breathing... I won't... give in." The Pacis' devilish smile showed through, sending a small spark of panic through him. "Good." Screams echoed across the bare walls. Black entering his vision, filling it up quickly.
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 By all the lights ever. That was a lot of Pacis. Elya spiked her power, reading the situation. They were all Mystics? Even among the Pacis that many was rare. But why were they even here? There wasn't any way Ji could've taken care of all those Reapers on his own... could there? Didn't matter now. She reached into her coat, then puffed out a slightly exasperated breath at finding only one throwing knife left. Of course she'd neglected to retrieve the ones she'd used on that Mystic. At least she'd be able to restock at her apartment after this, but for the time being it meant that she only had melee attacks. Fine. That was fine. Just save Ji. Elya crashed through the window, whipped out her katana, then slashed across a slew of Pacis.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Grace gritted her teeth. This wasn't working. Too many enemies. How could there be so many enemies? With a start, she realized that her vision has drained of color. What...? Was a Mystic messing with her perceptions? Even as she wondered, however, she felt the true source bleeding ice from her hand. She shivered, forcibly putting the knife away. For a few moments she stood in the Enchanted Realm, watching Ji and Elya fight as color returned. Even with her, they were still outnumbered. Surely there was something Grace could do to help? Well... There was one thing she could think of. They were on the second floor of a building, after all. And her knife was full of the blood of her enemies. She certainly was not as practiced with earth magic, but she should still be able to make it work. With a deep breath, she transitioned into the physical realm and laid her palms flat on the ground. Move, she imagined, and pushed the thought into her gloves. They flashed red through her glasses as the building began to quake.
Mystic Syn she/her Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 The Pacis hammered down on him. Ji deflected as much as he could, but too many of their blasts were making through his barrier of blades, not to mention the whatever that was that hit him earlier was making it difficult to do anything. His strength waned, and he hated it. He couldn't Lightn' handle himself. Maybe he did bite off more than he could chew... Why–– Another bullet embedded itself in his arm ––can't. I. Summon. That. Lightn'. Armor? CRASH Something... well, more of someone burst through the window, taking down Pacis one by one. Several Pacis screamed as they were cut down. More just replaced them, focusing on both the targets now. Ji couldn't exactly tell who his savior was, but he didn't care. Anybody that fought against the Pacis at that moment was his ally. Ji got up on his feet, but fell back down. Did the building just... rumble beneath his feet? The Pacis stumbled, their attacks waning as the ground quaked. One shouted at a few, who immediately fell to their knees, trying to reverse the effects of the quaking as much as they could.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Quote Grace is trying to bring the whole building down, in case that wasn't clear.

xinoehp512 he/him Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Quote Apologies One by one, the walls of the building fell. A few moments after her working began, Grace could feel the Pacis fighting it. Her clumsy fumbling was no match for their trained precision- however, the damage was done.

The few Pacis trying to contain the building broke their concentration. A couple widened their eyes, the other audibly gasped at the crumbling building. Shouts of evacuation sounded around them, abandoning their original plan to flee. A handful of Pacis lingered, herding or yelling at the other members to move faster, before following them out the exit. Ji stood in the chaos, debris falling like the crimson droplets off of him. He blinked at the sudden emptiness of the room, furrowing his brow as his vision began clearing up further, his muffled hearing still taking its sweet time to come back to a semi-normal state. Did everyone really disappear, or was he just imagining things? If they did just up and leave, why? Sounds of walls crumbling finally reached his ears. His breath caught. Ji looked around, frantic for an exit, till his eyes fell on… His legs were already moving before he could even muster up a fleeting thought. Ji fell into a half sprint, half limp to reach Elya, wrapping his arms around her, being her shield when his veins glowed. Light blue ghostly chest piece and back part of a helmet––much like his blades––materialized into existence, taking the brunt of the debris’ damage. He shook violently, wanting to give in to that ever inviting darkness, but he held on, literally and figuratively.

Mystic Syn she/her Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 Falling. A sensation he was too well aware of. The sensation triggered something, wanting him to think back on the last time… No. He held on to Elya as tight as he could. Debris fell with them, sometimes ramming and hitting his armor, other times hitting him, but he didn’t care. Ji watched the ground approach closer and closer, his mind trying to pull him back. He swerved in the air, positioning himself to be on the bottom. Ji hugged her tighter, closing his eyes as he… THUD Impact. All around them, the walls groaned, giving in on themselves and on them. Glass shattered, their shards spraying everywhere. Screams of anyone who stayed in the building were suddenly silenced as the cement caved in.
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Lights lights lights lights lights lights-- "JI!" Concrete smashed across them, pulverizing the surrounding Pacis and kicking up clods of smoke-like dust. The crashing rang in her ears like thunder, each explosion of iron and stone shrapnel cutting through the air. The ground was shaking, the walls were shaking, the air was shaking-- She was shaking. If anything had sliced through to her heart and killed her then she hadn't noticed yet. It was just crash after crash after crash after crash after... The rumbling came to a stop. Oh, lights. Elya was trembling, curled into a fetal ball and gasping for breath. Something was dripping: lights, she couldn't see. Were her eyes closed? Was it just too dark? With all the dust and debris... she couldn't breathe. She couldn't see. Was she dead? Was that it? Silence, for just a brief moment, before she screamed with whatever breath was left for someone to help.
