John groaned, rolling to his stomach.

His neck burned as he breathed, and the world spun around him. As he stood he stumbled into the building, using it's wall to support his weight.

The Mystic lay on the ground, dead.

Taking a deep breath John began to rummage through the Mystic's pockets. Taking anything he could find, but looking for an identification.

Looking at the man's face John commited it to memory.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this."

Fadran would he find anything identifying the man?

Probably not. He's barely got any clothes on him as is, anyways.

But also....

The corpse twitched one last time, then fell completely still. Sweat and blood began to dry on its surface.

And then the flesh began to decay.

It was rapid. Skin burned to black, exposing muscle and bone. Blood began to prickle out the ends, but somehow didn't immediately begin gushing. In seconds, the body had become little more than a child's conception of an undead.

"Did... you... know..." The voice came in a hiss from the corpse's throat, all consonants slurred as the mouth didn't move. "That... the brain... can consume... twenty... to thirty... percent... of our caloric... intake?"

One arm began to creak to the side, pressing against the street. With a shaky grasp, the creature pushed itself upright.

"Even with turning off... the parts I don't need... brain tissue happens to be... the most metabolically expensive... aspect of our bodies..."

The grin, now muscled and toothy, curled further upwards.

"What... that... means..." He said. "Is that regrowing it... is quite a pain."

Lyanör stepped up beside John, looking at the previously dead man. "That's absolutely horrendous."

John almost threw up looking at the man, watching muscles degrade and contrort.

Eventually he just forcused on the eyes.

He carefully re-loaded his gun as he moved closer.

"What's your name?"

"Glad you like it." The Mystic kept grimacing in a horrendous, euphoric grin.

He narrowed his gaze at John. "Tengo V'Harte. Yours?"

"They've really turned him on now." William noted, nodding at the image. "I mean that in a nonthreatening way. He's... an interesting individual."

Elya stayed on her guard, but the Transporter wasn't displaying any signs at all of betraying their temporary truce. "He heals by harming others?"

"Upon bodily damage, the immune system and respiratory tracts begin sending energy to the site of the damage. Having broken past the barrier between external and internal, he can draw upon that energy to heal himself." Tengo cocked his head. "He's become something of an eccentric when it comes to pain."

"John Doman." He said placing his gun on the man's eye.

"I will remember you."

Lyanör looked away. She usually wasn't one to get squeamish, but there was something about re-killing someone who was still half-dead that made her want to vomit.

John fired his gun as he pulled away.

It wasn't any skill on his part, he simply tried to make a first and happened to pull the trigger.

John collapsed groaning as he held his hands to the knife.

No real thoughts came to him, only anger, and pain.

So much pain.

Lyanör gasped as John collapsed. Judging his shot to have at least temporarily dealt with the Mystic, she dropped to his side. "Are you alright?"

"I'll live, maybe. Can you get me out of the gas please, I'm not sure if it affects the bloodstream but I'd rather not find out." John said. Squeezing his eyes shut John braced himself, this going to get so much worse.

Not entirely sure how to safely move him, Lyanör carefully grabbed John under the arms, half-dragging him out of the gas. Hopefully this doesn't make his injury worse...

"Well, I didn't even try to do anything, so you're one ahead of me on genius...ness. Hopefully he doesn't...y'know...again."

"Yeah, good point. Would you mind making sure he's dead? I also left a shopping cart with some bags and a rifle in it, if you bring that I can sit inside so I'm not weighing you down so much."

Lyanör grabbed the shopping cart, pushing it towards John. She then approached the Mystic cautiously, keeping her gun aimed at his head.

The Mystic hacked up blood, coughing over and over and over again... his breaths were dirty and ragged.

Then he started laughing.

Loud, raucous; insane. His whole body shook with it.

"Oh--this is so much FUN!"

Elya's hands were shaking. Her breath was uneven.

This wasn't supposed to happen.

"He's always had an eye for the more chaotic side of things," William said. "Ah, I wish we could continue... but at this point, it seems like these things aren't helping with your mental state, and it certainly wouldn't do well for you to die in just a few moments."

She darted backwards, fleeting smoothly across the wood to sling out her blade. Force your breathing back into focus. It won't help them at all if you died here.

"Starting already?" The Mystic asked, bringing out his weapons. "I'd expected more of you. Oh well... that's what makes it all interesting anyways."

Focus. Balance. HARMONIZE. Elya sent out a burst of power as William started spawning portals.

"Expect the unexpected, or you get bored too quickly."

Lyanör shot him in the head again, then ran back to John. "What do we do? We can't keep him dead, but he could easily kill us if we don't keep shooting him."

"He mentioned that it required nutrients for him to regrow, if you cut his head off it should kill him." John said. "Do you have a knife?"

"Yeah, but..." Lyanör pulled out a tiny pocketknife. "I dunno how useful it'd be."

Sinew began to regrow across his head, pulling the bits of brain back together and forcing out the chunk of steaming lead. "You're leaving yourselves wide open... ahhh. Johnnie here's not gonna have much life left for me to sap soon!"

He got back to his feet, falling back into a fighting stance and turning his gaze to Lyanor. "I think I'll have to kill you both at this point."

Lyanör whirled around, eyes wide. By instinct, she fired three shots in quick succession towards him.
