I decided to create a second character. I'm not too sure about their ability though, given that it's an Epic ability, and I'm not that good at grading them.

Spoiler

Name: Takamine Kumiko

Epic name: Polygenetic

Gender: Female

Appearance: Has a Japanese appearance, and is around 5'2'' tall, with short, dark brown hair. She normally wears a blue sweater and a shorter skirt that's easy to move around in, together with combat boots. She normally also has some type of animal feature incorporated into her body. Generally these are a fox tail and ears. Wears a translator amulet in the form of a necklace. She is around 17 years old.

Affiliation: DA

Powers:

  • Animal Mimicry: When touching an animal she gets the ability to incorporate parts of it's appearance into her own body. When she does so she also gets the abilities of said animal. These abilities are based on the general perception of said animal, and don't need to correspond with the features of the animal she incorporates into her body. For example, including a fish would give her the ability to breath underwater and swim faster, but it still works even if she just changes her skin and adds webbing to her fingers. The abilities an animal gives also don't need to respond to their actual abilities. For example, including a fox or an owl would give intelligence based boosts, while said animals aren't noticeably smarter than other animals. The more well known and accepted a property of an animal is makes it easier for her to use it as well. A single form can be kept up indefinitely, and forms she's accustomed to can be kept up even when unconscious.
This ability also works with sapient non-human beings, but has a time limit in this case, with the form only being usable for a few hours after starting to use it, and the ability to use to form fading after about a day. To regain access to the form she has to make contact with another person of said species. The same also goes for beings created through magic, or having magic, such as through Hemalurgy. Using these forms requires more focus and energy than animal forms.
  • Myth Recreation (Following is subject to change, since it might be too strong): With preparation and a large amount of focus she's capable of temporarily upgrading a form, having it take properties from a mythological creature instead which results in more magical abilities. This only works if said creature is made up of animals she has already acquired. For example: If she has acquired a horse and an eagle she can use the forms unicorn (horse) and hippogriff (horse&eagle) but not griffin (eagle&lion), since she doesn't have a lion form. Using this ability will use up a lot of energy, with the amount of energy proportional to the power of the form. Using a form that is too powerful, or using one for too long will also overload her abilities, leaving her without them for a certain amount of time (amount of time depending on strength and duration of use of the form, minimum of one day, maximum can go up to a month for the strongest forms).
  • Animal Calming: Animals are more calm when close to her. This is a passive ability, with a fairly low strength. It generally allows her to get close to animals that would normally run away from or attack humans. It still has limits though, so trying to get close to a trained attack dog that has been ordered to attack her, or trying to get close to a hungry lion would still end badly. It's power also scales inversely to the intelligence of the animal. It doesn't work on beings with human level intelligence, with a Koloss being the maximum level of intelligence that can still be affected, all be it barely. Basically, this ability works by suppressing the instincts of animals, but it has a limit on how much it can suppress these instincts. This ability also only works on normal animals. Beings with a magical nature (like animals with symbiotic spren bonds) aren't affected by this ability, and other abilities affecting animals will override this one.

Weaknesses:

  • She has a spinal cord injury that makes it impossible for her to walk (ASIA B). Her powers allow her to walk normally, but only while she is using a form. If her powers are ever disrupted she immediately becomes helpless.
  • Overusing her powers for too long will temporarily disable them, with the duration of them being disabled depending on the level of overuse. Overuse happens when using multiple forms at the same time, using a form based around a sapient being, or using a form that is based around a magical animal.
While overusing her abilities keeping up her forms will cost a large amount of stamina, with the amount depending on how strongly she's using them, and running out will trigger the powers being disabled. Using Myth Recreation will cause her powers to be disabled afterwards regardless of how long she uses the ability.
  • She's still extremely inexperienced with Myth Recreation (not helped by a poor knowledge of mythology), greatly limiting the amount of forms she can use and how much power she can get out of them.
  • She dislikes humans. Generally the only sapient beings she gets along with are non-human ones, and even then it takes a while for her to get along with them. Because of this she's also bad at working together with people, and generally tries to do things alone instead.
  • She has a very poor grasp on the language spoken in the Alleycity and relies on a translator amulet instead.
  • Epic Weakness: Being in a motorized vehicle. About the only vehicles that don't trigger her weakness are bicycles and boats, and even then she only uses them when she absolutely has too. Getting in one will disable her powers, and give her a panic attack. Even bicycles require a lot of willpower to use without having a panic attack, making boats the only vehicles she uses, and even then it's only rarely.

Skills: Fairly smart, but missing a lot of general knowledge because of the time she's spend in a hospital. She does know a lot about animals though, having spend most of her time reading about them. She has also picked up some basic hand-to-hand combat skills that are based around and combined with her abilities.

Personality: She tends to rely a lot on her instincts, instead of thinking things through, and tends to display more animal-like behavior at times. She also dislikes humans, and sometimes has issues fitting in with normal society. Non-human sapient people tend to make her feel confused, but she's capable of getting along with them. She generally doesn't respect people weaker than her, and tends to live in the moment, not caring about any consequences of her actions. Dislikes being in crowds, and enjoys walking in nature, or empty cities. She's generally regarded as a bit of a problem child.

History: When younger she got into a car crash, and the event ended up causing her serious injuries, including a damaged spine, as well as killing her parents. Because of this she ended up staying in the hospital even after recovering, where she spend most of her time reading about animals. When calamity rose she initially stayed in the hospital, till she came along a black cat. Petting it, she found out about her abilities, and that they let her walk again. After this, she ran off and decided to find as many animals as possible. Eventually she found a way into the alleycity, and joined up with the DA after finding one of their members and discovering that they weren't human.

Let's see if anyone can spot who this character is a reference to.

Conveniently, @Voidus is both an expert in judging Epics and spotting anime references, so if he doesn't mind, I'm going to drag him over here to give his opinion.

For me, part of what I'd consider would be what the magical abilities of the mythical creatures are. Depending on your source, some magical animals have very varied skill-sets. I've seen interpretations of unicorns that can heal, fly, talk and even use telepathy. Depending on which version of a creature you choose, you could become OP. I don't think that will be a problem, but it's something to consider.

In this case it would be balanced out by the fact that using more abilities, or stronger ones, is more difficult, and makes her run out of energy much quicker. So in case of the unicorn, using all those abilities at full strength would probably knock her out in about 20 seconds, especially because of her low amount of experience with them, and would leave her helpless for about a week.

@erbiL ohcnaG I like Xena's bio, except for this part:

That's fair. I'll change it to more of a fear of falling:

Spoiler

Name:

-Xena Uzasny

-Goes by ‘Xena’. She insists on her first name being used by everyone.

Gender:

-Female

Age:

-23 counting by her years

-4 ½ counting by normal years.

Investiture/Non-Cosmere Connections:

-Can hear the spelling and grammar that people or AIs use when they talk (+15)

-Smells delicious to dragons (Only natural, non-hemalurgic dragons) (+10)

-Is subject to a number of genetic modifications. (Determined below)

Special Talents:

-Can play the Oboe really well. The way her throat and lungs are modified allows for a larger and stronger exhale (+10)

-She is also able to eat stick dynamite without exploding; she only gets stomach aches. This is because, for some reason, her stomach was altered and thus formed from a very tense tissue, stronger than even her bones. However, the tissue is worthless at anything other than being a stomach, so that is where the new tissue is. Because her saliva glands are impaired, her mouth and throat are perpetually dry, allowing for the which of the dynamite to pass into her stomach unquenched, but when the dynamite explodes she is generally fine. Why this modifications only apply to stick dynamite is because dynamite is the only explosive that is easily swallowed; Looney Tunes is a prime example of this. (+15)

-Can dance really well, which is surprising because of one of the items below. Her balance is slightly increased, at the cost that her academic intelligence is slightly decreased.

Appearance:

-Kinda shaped like an oboe. At 5’7”, she could be described as ‘tall and slender’, with a head that looks just a little too big for her neck.

-Her face makes her look young and innocent to the point of ridiculous underestimation. Her looks are modified to portray the exact traits that are most dismissal by the average human being. (+15)

-Really likes cutting off the dress part of havahs and wearing the tops with pants. This is her most common choice of clothing, her uniform.

-Oh, also, she literally has two left feet. Whether this alteration is on purpose or on accident, both of her feet are left-oriented, although her foot arches still both form inward. She wears mismatched shoes and socks because of this, but despite the common saying, she is still a great dancer. (+5)

Quirks:

-Gerbil snorts. Ug.

-Skips to the last page in books. UG!

-Wears mismatched socks. … She has a good excuse for this, so it’s not so bad.

-Ages five times faster than the average human (-20)

Psych:

-A type of mild paranoia where she frequently imagines mistakes she could make that would lead to her death; keep in mind this is not like Aviar, and is limited by her imagination; it doesn’t cause fear, per se, but she can’t really control it. This dysfunction can’t tell the future, and most of the ‘deaths’ she imagines are quite far-fetched

-Whenever she feels self-conscious, she mumbles the word ‘potato’ over and over.

-She is pretty smart and is able to comprehend abstract and complicated concepts. (+30) However, when it comes to social skills, she has a long way to go. (-5)

-She has a severe fear of falling

Emotional Stability:

-General stable, but if anyone mentions the word ‘cockapoo’ she breaks down into hysterics (-5)

Physical Capabilities:

-Isn’t very muscular, hardy, or enduring, and is quite used to the perks of a middle class (-20)

-Can’t use any weapon to save her life. She pretends she is capable with her fists, but that’s just a lie she tells herself. (-60)

Items:

-Oboe, with an atomic-explosion proof case. She cares more about its survival than her own, or at least she thinks she is more durable than her instrument. (+5)

-Several cans of dragons-repellent. Instead of saving these for a dragon, she uses them as a body spray, and thus always has a particular garlic stench about her. (+5)

-A potato. Once the one she carries gets old, she trades it out. But she never eats them.

-A Herdazian Rhyming Dictionary

-A cool rock, which she is convinced holds ‘Sandlight’. She is also convinced that she is destined to become a ‘Lightbringer’.

-And, of course, a Type IV awakened action figure that looks like a Potato. Its command is to “Pretend to be the real potato”. She switches it and the real potato around so often that it is hard to tell which is which. (+90)

Guild Affiliation:

-Diagramists, Gilded Rose Society(?)

History:

-Xena was born in the Centrifugal Earth, born in a lab. Her ‘father’ was a deranged genetic scientist who wanted to experiment with her embryo. Her ‘mother’, or the scientist's wife, had been from Lukarvia and carried a Knack. However, she had died several years previously, leading to the scientist's madness. He kept his wife’s body frozen, and added part of her DNA to Xena’s, and thus gave Xena a Knack. However, some of his modifications were random and pointless, but this can be attributed to the fact that the scientist was, indeed, quite mad. It should be noted that he owned a cockapoo.

Xena aged extremely quickly, with five of her years passing every one. However, even though she grew quickly, she never lost her youthfulness. Her ‘father’ committed suicide shortly after her 1st birthday after she had developed to the point of a kindergartener. Alone, she set off, barely more than a baby, but growing more capable every day. After a week of wandering and slowly dying, she found refuge in a GMO potato field, a harvest that was programmed to survive under the worst conditions and still grow large and juicy. Because the potatoes could manage on their own, the farmer in charge left his crop alone.

Thus, Xena was able to survive for months in the potato field, using the potatoes for food and a nearby filtered ‘stream’ for water. However, when the farmer returned, he chased Xena away, but not before she was able to gather dozens of potatoes and take them with her.

She wandered yet again, soon running out of every potato except one, which she never ate, saving it for an emergency. On her voyages, she found a cool rock, an oboe, and a seemingly magical portal to a strange place.

She ignored that last one. Aging very quickly, she reached her second birthday by scavenging and hiding.

However, one day, when she had reached the maturity of a twelve-year-old, she needed to cross a whitewater river. She entered in but was swept away. She was almost drowned again and again as she desperately tried to escape the currents, but to no avail. The river hit a series of rocks, forming mini-waterfalls. Xena was slammed into the boulders and tossed down the falls, choking and bleeding, only her genetically-enhanced bones keeping her alive. She was carried miles, for hours, smashing against rocks and falling, over and over again. Finally, she blacked out once the river carried her over an edge in the largest waterfall yet. She hit and water and fell unconscious.

She woke up in the Alleyverse a year later.

And yes, I did change Vesuvius' bio. I had kinda posted two different ones at different times, so I combined them in this latest one.

Thanks! @Archer

Kasukabe Yo from Mondaiji Tachi?

This is a really hard one to measure, very powerful if done right but the limitation would limit it to something on the lower end of the scale most of the time.

Correct, though the personality is different. As for power level, compared to the actual character it's somewhere around the same level as in the show, so you won't get anything at the level of what she reaches in/after book 5.

Alright with that I'd put it at around an 80 just due to the potential for short bursts of being OP but I'd trust Kenod to RP that effectively.

Okay, I have all three of my girls done.

Tena [non-pregnant character sheet will be available after she gives birth]

Spoiler

Name: (Pregnant) Tenareo

Sex: Female

Age: Forty-six

Nationality: Three-quarters Alethi, eighth Scadrian noble, eighth Terris

Birthplace: Kharbranth, Roshar

Family: Mother- Zerasin (deceased). Father- unimportant (deceased). Siblings- Roshin (brother). Spouse- Anthony Nightshade (fiance). Children- unnamed (daughter, father- Telth, deceased), Seom (daughter, father- Travis), Silas (son, adopted), unnamed child she is pregnant with (father- Anthony Nightshade). Extended family- Rena (cousin), Lenare (grandfather).

Appearance: Five feet eight inches tall. Sleek, muscular build. Tan skin. Hawkish face; prominent cheekbones, sharp jaw. Pixie-cut black hair. Light blue eyes. (Currently five-months pregnant.)

Investiture: Allomantic chromium, Feruchemical steel. Nightwatcher boon/bane (boon: takes away her powers as a Mistborn, save for one random metal, until her heart rate rises enough (high enough that she would usually have to take drugs to get there) that she ‘Snaps’ again, then she is able to use all but one of the sixteen metals until she falls asleep. Bane: every time she ‘Snaps’, her mind is reverted back to its sixteen year-old stage).

Strengths: Skilled with staffs and axes in combat. Excellent acrobat. Always in control of herself. Has Anthony to protect her, most of the time.

Weaknesses: Recently broke her Radiant Oaths. Pollen allergies. Touchy about her age. Is currently pregnant, and so unable to fight (when the baby is born, she will have to carry it around if it doesn’t miscarry). Hates being a Mistborn. Cares about Anthony deeply and would do anything to protect him.

Guild Affiliations: Ghostbloods, TUBA

Backstory: Tena was born in Kharbranth to her well-respected Lighteyed parents. At age ten, she ran away from home because she hated having to train to be a Lighteyed woman. She learned to steal on the streets with the help of her ‘lucky spren’ and formed a gang. She Snapped as a Mistborn at age fifteen when one of those gangmembers raped her, and she killed him. She gave birth to a girl when she was sixteen, but the baby was stillborn. A month later, she was caught after robbing her own family’s mansion, then sentenced to death. Her grandfather, a Worldhopper from Scadrial, heard of it and bailed her out, surprised and impressed at her evasion of the Skybreakers, then brought her to Nalthis, bought her a hundred Breaths, and trained her with weapons. After that, he brought her to a combat training camp in Scadrial, where she was trained in acrobatics and weapons to be a perfect killing machine. She stayed there against her will for five years, then escaped to Kharbranth, restoring her position as gangleader and plaguing the city for another five years. After that, she got tired of thieving and went back to Scadrial, meeting a half-Koloss and dating him for two years. During that, she moved in with him to his ranch in the Northern Roughs and gave birth to a girl. The half-Koloss helped her deliver, then told her that the baby died a few minutes after birth because of a problem in her heart. Tena left, almost killing him in a rage, then went to Roshar and asked the Nightwatcher to make her anyone but herself. After that, she went to the Alleyplanet and participated in the Seven Day War. She adopted Silas during the Sixteen Year Peace. She met Anthony Nightshade (whom she calls Ani) several minutes before he tried to commit suicide after burning down a town and realizing he was a horrible person. She saved him with Progression after he pulled out all of his spikes and forgot everything about himself, with only a few memories left, and they fell in love. They lived together for a year, during which she became pregnant, then Ani proposed and she accepted. She hopes to successfully be married to him.

Alignment: Chaotic neutral

Seom

Spoiler

Name: Seom

Sex: Female

Age: Twenty-one

Nationality: Thirty-seven and a half Alethi, thirty-one and a quarter Terris, a quarter Koloss, six and a quarter Scadrian noble

Birthplace: Northern Roughs, Scadrial

Family: Mother- Tena Nightshade. Father- Travis. Siblings- unnamed (sister, half-sibling; father- unimportant, deceased), Silas (brother, adopted), unnamed child Tena is pregnant with (half-sibling; father- Anthony Nightshade). Spouse- none. Children- none. Extended relations- Anthony Nightshade (mother’s fiance), Lenare (great-grandfather).

Appearance: Five feet eleven inches tall. Slim build. Dark, faintly bluish skin. Long black hair, usually in a tail. Dark green eyes.

Investiture: Gold Ferring.

Strengths: Excellent guitarist. Trained Alethi scout. Average knife-fighter. Independent, self-sufficient, and capable.

Weaknesses: Unwilling to do harm to others with melee weapons, unless she or whoever she deems her leader says it is absolutely necessary. Has limited combat experience.

Guild Affiliations: None

Backstory: Seom was born in the Northern Roughs to a half-Koloss half-Terris father and a Rosharan mother. Her mother left at her birth and her father raised her for fourteen years on his ranch. He tried taking her to the Alleyplanet, but lost her, and she ended up stuck in the Shattered Plains, where she was saved by a bridgecrew from Dalinar Kholin’s warcamp. She was trained as a scout there, and stayed for four years, until her father found her and brought her to the Alleyplanet. She stayed there when her father left to go back to Scadrial after a year or so.

Alignment: Lawful good

Dru

Spoiler

Name: Dru

Sex: Female

Age: Twenty-two

Nationality: Completely Scadrian skaa

Birthplace: Rural Duladen, Sel

Family: Mother- Fawreth (deceased), Diona (adopted, deceased). Father- Charin. Siblings- none. Spouse- none. Children- none. Extended relations- unimportant.

Appearance: Four feet eleven inches tall. Stocky build. Light skin. Round face. Jaw-length brown hair. Brown eyes.

Investiture: Pewter Misting.

Strengths: Experienced rock-climber. Powerful shoulder muscles. Very positive attitude about most things in general. Likes giving people hugs.

Weaknesses: Falls in love easily. No combat experience. PTSD whenever she sees fire.

Guild Affiliations: None

Backstory: Dru was born in rural Duladen to her Scadrian Worldhopper parents, Fawreth and Charin. Her mother died in childbirth, which cast her father into despair, though he still managed to take the newborn to the nearest orphanage and drop her off there. She was raised by a kindly old woman, Diona, for fourteen years, then helped run the orphanage herself. After a few years, the orphanage was burned down when the Republic collapsed, killing many of the children and making Dru flee. She went to Arelon, and became interested in Elantris, hiking around the area for several weeks before finding an Elsecaller Worldhopper who had known her parents. The Worldhopper brought her to the Alleyplanet, then left her there, where she learned to rock climb.

Alignment: Neutral good

Would be around a 70 based purely on the power, I did notice that you didn't include their Epic weakness there though, depending on what that is @Archer may lower it further.

Functionally though they're a Soulcaster with infinite Stormlight but instead has a few other limitations.

That was based off a quick look and making the assumption that you're limiting to non-living materials. The concept of 'value' is also a little vague.

Knowing the weakness would be good @Ark1002.

This seems like a good time to ask you, Voidus, to take a gander at the other Epic characters we've got: @MacThorstenson's Mackc, @Blessing of Potency's Melody, and @Lord Meeker's Idos are the ones I don't believe I've run by you yet. All can be found on the list. Whenever you get the chance, could you please take a look at them and say if they're OP or not, and/or make any suggestions you think need to be made?

I wasn't sure what to do about Tars. The idea was for him to be a powerful villain character, right? I feel it might be better to stick him in his own special section of the list since he's being used differently than the average person's character, but I wanted to check with you about how you want to RP him.

Yeah, he was made to be a character like that, and might be RPed differently because of it. If you feel it would be better to have another section of the list for him, then I trust that judgment, partly because I’m not sure myself.

I'm going to put him under your name for now, but he becomes a different type of character, I'll look into it again.

Can do

@Blessing of Potency (Melody)
Deceptively powerful character, sound manipulation is quite powerful in the Alleyverse, especially at the levels implied in her history as possible. That being said there are limitations, a solid weakness that is pretty freely available and has so far not been RP'd as too overpowered. I'd put this at the very top of the acceptable power limits but still just inside of it. Power itself is probably ~130 I'd say, really hard to judge though.

@Ookla the Meeker (Idos)
This one's a bit awkward. If it's just being extremely proficient in this as a weapon then that's probably only worth around 30 points, its the highest level of proficiency but only with one specific weapon. But I'd say this is going a little bit beyond that, being able to actually cut through people with wires is difficult enough that I'd say this has to have some elements of enhancement to the weapon included with it. Looking at the descriptions of what @Lord Meeker is suggesting should be possible it'd be difficult to imagine this as below a 60. Main concern is the range that this is thought to be effective at. If it's intended to only be effective within around 10 feet then yeah that's only probably around a 40, if it's intended to be effective at 50 feet then that's probably like a 70.

@MacThorstenson (Mackc)
Assuming reasonable limits like he can't make this music loud enough to drown out all other thoughts, this is probably only worth a 20 at most. Very situational, might be able to throw some people off guard with the surprise element but this is not in itself dangerous in the least.

Can’t wait to see the moment where Mackc ruthlessly rickrolls everyone nonstop.

Did not think of this.

I update my rating. This power is worth at least a trillion points. No mortal should hold this ability.

The Index (see the second post in this thread) bases skill's power level on years of experience. So that would give them a lower score, especially as their long range weapons score would drop dramatically. They'd still get a bunch for having both hand to hand and melee weapons skill (but I'd cut down the latter by at least half since it's only with the staff).

About the years of experience, Silphio had been training with Devaan since just before the seven day war. But taking that into account, would Silphio be ok?

As for Astiel, how about he is non-agressive. He won't start fights but If he is attacked he'll fight back. He is limited to only being inside the canton of combat or on intelligence missions. So the only times he is outside the canton is when he has to be as his job, or he is asked to duel.

I don't really know if this will balance him, if not. What do you suggest?

I have a new character that I can hopefully develop better than a disco lizard.

Spoiler

Name: Maxwell "Moxy" Williamson

Gender: Male

Age: 35

Powers: He is an epic that has the abilities to never run out of bullets and to never miss a shot unless he meant to.

Appearance: He is a mexican man with darkish brown hair slicked back hair and a thick curly mustache. He is 5’ 7” and 136 pounds and looks slightly muscular. He wears a white dress shirt with a purple argyle patterned vest and he also wears a purple harmburg, tan slacks and black dress shoes.

Personality: He is usually cool headed and generally well mannered with a slight twinge of rudeness when pushed, and if he gets to his limit…...well…….it ends badly to say the least.

Weapons/Equipment: He is armed with a cattleman revolver and a carbine rifle with a scope. He usually keeps at least 15 dynamite sticks on him at all times and a remote bomb detonator that can be used from up to 200’ away.

Weakness: His powers can be nullified by eating or touching a pineapple and they will stay nullified until the pineapple leaves his system or he stops touching the pineapple.

Backstory: He grew up in Tucson, Arizona where he attended an all boys school until he graduated. He moved to Las Vegas and religiously studied books after books about charisma, cheating, and guns. He eventually got his gun license and quickly learned how to very accurately aim. He was on his way to Seattle when he saw a man flying through the sky shooting lasers, he quickly drove off to find shelter and to call for help.

Carnage. Carnage happens.

I quite like the first power. Never running out of bullets was one of my favourite Epic powers, especially if you combined it with things like misspend launchers and shotguns.

But never missing a shot is pretty powerful. Don’t know how that’ll be graded.

Alao, ho does never missing a shot work? Does luck play a factor? If he physically moves points his gun upwards but wants to hit a target, what’ll happen? Does the bullet curve?

(I swear, I’m going to make a character one day that curve bullets. Absolute madlad)
