What are you going to read next?
-
I thought that would happen but I read it because if I had liked it, it would have given FeatherWriter something to taunt InsurrectionistFungus about which would have amused me.

I think it was that when he changed the Feruchemists he didn't realize that Feruchemancy was hereditary and so he only got rid of the Terrismen that were Feruchemists at the time, not the Terrismen that had it in their bloodline. The Feruchemists that came up after the ascension are the forerunners of the Synod. Also have you gone and told Aether that you are Indian? He is compiling a list of where each sharder is from/living at the moment. The list is in community section in the general discussion thread. Under Nationality thread/Sharder Geo-tracking. There are currently 3 Indians on the list. Edit: Repeated myself I a gumpy.

I just finished reading the bit where Sylvie tries to pilot the Jaeger thingie, not gonna lie I couldn't really get into it. But that may be because I didn't really like the movie Pacific Rim. The writing style itself was fine just the plot-line/character was boring to me. ( now you can asplode for realsies )

He changed every living Feruchemist to avoid another full Mistborn/Feruchemist popping up to challenge him. He is also half Ruin, the Shard of entropy. With Vin and Elend he was unable to bring their souls back from the 'beyond'. Remember that Ruin and Preservation together created the humans on Scadrial. Preservation just had to sacrifice some of his power to give them sentience. IIRC.

[GAME] If you were a Mistborn in real life...

But I'm so cute and cuddly! -
No, you're right he wouldn't. But I would say that as Harmony becomes used to his power, he would become more precise in his execution, as we saw with TLR, who was able to distinguish the difference between Feruchemists and everyone else so as to change just them into Mistwraiths by the end of his tenure as Preservation. So i doubt that Harmony wouldn't be able to target just one person. Remember that we never really saw Ruin or Preservation act. We only saw them when they were weak and counterbalanced by each other.

Also when Sazed is talking to Elend about him losing the throne because of Elend telling the truth, Sazed says "but a man must be cohesive with himself." Cohesive is an odd word to say in that circumstance, "be true to himself" seems like a better phrase. So was that a deliberate placement? Could it be a clue as to the properties of the Surge Cohesion?

Harmony is a God. If TLR can move a planet, then Harmony can kill one guy. Edit: added 'a'

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When any time you do anything mildly physical you find yourself thinking "Pewter would be amazing right now. Harmony, even Hemalurgy would be useful for just the Human Strength bit. Just one time i swear." -
[game] Buy or Sell?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to firstRainbowRose's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Buy. Marsh will still be around in the third trilogy and will join them in there journey. -
If Harmony wanted Marsh dead there is nothing anyone on Scadrial could do to stop him and wouldn't Harmony be able to control Marsh?

Proselytizing for Brandon
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Firiel's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I got my brother to read WoK in the hospital, this was after him seeing me lug the great big thing around for about a month with him constantly teasing me about it, he got 1 page in and literally couldn't put it down until he had read the whole thing. Even though his eyes hurt the whole time and he couldn't see by the end of it, idiot. First thing he said when he saw me again was "what's up with wit?" Got my friend to read WoK when he had been annoying me for ages at his house ( I was rereading Mistborn for the hundredth time ) he kept complaining that he was bored so i threw it at him and said, "read that and shut up." They have now read all of them and they were constantly complaining that "he takes too long to write them." Laughed for about an hour after that and introduced them to both ASoIaF and the Kingkiller chronicles, they no longer complain about the machine that is Brandon Sanderson. -

They may also be able to make use of Stormlight in a similar fashion as Lift but in reverse. -
The most devastating shard weapons
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
@EMTrevor: This is what I meant by pointless. I don't care enough to continue this quasi-argument, agree to dis-agree. But upvote because "He ate my horse" and "I am a stick" are two of the best lines in the Cosmere. ( How do you split one quote into several different quotes? ) -
The most devastating shard weapons
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
@EMTrevor: OK so no Shardplate I assume? Cool, heres how I win, you start your dance to get velocity up I throw my 6-foot Blade of death at you, you dodge losing all of the velocity. I then Throw it again and again constantly, never going closer than 10 metres until you can no longer block and you die. I'm sorry, I really am but the sword wins. Insta- resummon makes it sooooo OP because it's just grab and go. The Rope, however, needs to be constantly in motion or its just a Short-Sword/Hammer/Hook with a Rope. Eventually my 6-foot Blade of death is going to hit you and you will die. ( This sounds harsher than I meant it to be. ) I'm also throwing the Blade horizontally. As the Rope is not solid enough to block it, the only way to stop it is to create tension in the Rope or dodge the Blade. The Spear has a similar scenario, Except no blocking only dodging. -
The most devastating shard weapons
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
@EMTrevor: making them both Bonded Spren weapons makes any discussion of the merits either weapon has pointless. They both become so OP that it is ridiculous. I suggest waiting till i get to the USA for comic-con or whatever, going to a park with a rope-dart and spear and duking it out to see which is better. Also is that video similar to what Jackie Chan does in Shanghai whatever? I can't watch because my computer freaks out if i watch online videos. -
Your favorite character from first Trilogy
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to TheWarriorPoet's topic in Mistborn
Vin, her background was most similar to my own, and she dealt with things in a similar way i would, in that situation. -
@maxel: what DeployParachutes said we are fighting the same fight, though you mentioned kids so i understand, they make doing things... challenging. ( learnt that the hard way, looking after my sisters 6 children. ) Adolin is her best bet for happiness at the moment. @DeployParachute: I'm sorry I completely forgot about what was discussed in that scene, probably should have fact checked, meh. Still don't think Shallan and Kaladin would work though, Kaladin is looking for someone he can protect and Shallan is looking for someone to provide stability and emotional support Not protection. Adolin IMO is her best bet for that so far, she would also be able to keep him on track through the next couple of books because it's going to get very rough very fast for him which is something he is not quite ready for. Renarin may be able to help him but not i think to the extent Shallan can, and Dalinar would fail miserably at providing support, he is going to have his hands full trying to unite everyone.

The most devastating shard weapons
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
The problem with any rope/chain weapon is that it requires a lot of training to use effectively. Let's say me and you are fighting you with rope, me with spear, no Surges. I charge, it's my best bet of an early victory, so I'm charging and you throw the rope dart at me. I hit the rope with my spear tip, I duck the rope, as I wraps around the spear, and plant myself pulling on the rope, pulling you off balance, throw spear you die. A couple of friends and I actually got bored a couple of months ago and started training with random things to use as weapons ( not at all because we are afraid of zombies, nope not that ) and we found that sword, spear and normal mace are the easiest weapons to fight with because they are the most predictable in the way the move and are effected by the environment around them. It's why those where the weapons most often used throughout history in every country. I stand by my statement of as soon as the enemy can block the rope, the rope is useless unless you are priorly trained ( for years ) with a rope dart. Also would the rope itself cut? Because if it doesn't, then the rope becomes even more useless. If the rope does cut how would you use it? -
@DeployParachute: Perhaps I have been harsh with him but I still stand by what i say. Even with the chasm scene I don't think that he will fully understand her reasoning behind it, his Oaths pretty much prohibit that sort of behaviour, and I may be putting too much of my own experience into the book but it has been my experience that people who find it difficult to understand the motives of others, ( this is displayed by Kaladin in numerous scenes in both books with the battle scenes where he questions the purpose of the bridge men even though i got their purpose as soon as i read about them ( canon fodder not saying I am smarter just more able to see someone else's side ), and pretty much every scene with him and a lighteyes.) They are only really able to judge others by their own personally morality code, that they hold at that point in there life, and his new morality code, the third oath of the wind runners is “I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right.” with this information I don't think he will be able to condone her actions whereas Adolin will. so I can't see Shallan being comforted by Kaladin, instead I see her opening up to him, he will then naturally recoil at the brutality she displayed ( also IIRC he has never killed anyone in cold blood like that, war doesn't count because battlefields are different to houses ), she will see this as a rejection, which it is even if he got over it, she will then go to Adolin, hopefully he has told her what he did, they both have a bit of a cry become each others emotional support, not a love interest, which will then, as they grow, change into romantic feelings.

Going from his analogy, which knowing Mr Sanderson, is used deliberately, it could be assumed that where a Snap in the Spiritweb was needed before, now only a cut is necessary.

Possible fighting style for pushers
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to High prince of geeks's topic in Mistborn
Oh no! The topic train went off the rails. Sadly many a comment was severely injured in the resulting crash as a poor onlooker comment looked on, completely helpless to help as this catastrophe happened. But fear not! For soon new comments will arrive that shall endeavour to heal the injured comments and rebuild the broken topic. Thus will the topic be able to get back on track and continue to its eventual destination. -
I suppose if you hooked up to a Investiture Metalmind then that could power it and computers have no Identity so that shouldn't interfere with it being able to use the stored power. This definately sounds plausible, using our limited knowledge of how Feruchemancy works. They could also use Hemalurgicly charged Spikes to gain extra powers. I know not a lot of people like it, but I'm pretty sure there is a WoB floating around somewhere that states, that if a Spike is melted down and reformed into multiple Spikes each Spike would contain a small charge. Thus allowing Spikes created from violent re-offending criminals to be used for 10 to perhaps 50 individual Spikes. In this senario the Spike supplies the Spiritual aspect, the AI Feruputer supplies the Cognitive and the Physical aspects. Sounds reasonable... Right? Edit: removed words that managed to ninja their way in.
