Adolin's actions at the end of WoR (spoilers)
Aleksiel replied to Dain's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sounds a bit like 'I will stand where others fail' or something that Brandon said will be an Oath (my spheres are on Stonewards). So, Adolin could possibly become a Stoneward; they were warriors, took their duties very seriously, dependable and resourceful, etc. Overall Adolin fits. When Adolin killed Sadeas I was both surprised and not. I expected Sadeas to be killed, but not in such a way. I thought either Kaladin or Adolin were likely to do it and I was sort of suspicious about Renarin (would have been cool). Though I thought Jasnah would have him assassinated was the likeliest, but chapter 7 threw this out of the window. I think Adolin can get away with it, so long as he doesn't confess. -
Probably. Shallan wasn't surprised when Mraize mentioned Helaran and the Skybreakers.

Thank you for posting it! I was certain I read it, yet I couldn't find it in theoryland and some WoB threads I searched when Argent asked for a link.

The Stormfather already reviled he was a sliver, Wyndle uses the word investing. Perhaps cosmere terminology is going to be used a lot by the characters. There are already Shards on Roshar - Blades and Plates yes, but the word is still familiar to everyone.

It is one way to read it, I agree. But if the pattern of one Radiant per Order continues, then we will have ten people and each of them could wonder what happened to the Almighty. Well, not Dalinar since he sort of knows. This death rattle sounds like of the past, but it could also be a red herring.

I think it's safe to assume all death rattles are precognitive, of the future even when seemingly refer to a past event. Jasnah said 'Everything that happened has happened before. The grand lesson of history' and Hoid's implied all stories have happened before and only the names change. There's no solid proof any rattle is of the past, even 'the burden of nine becomes mine'. We know next to nothing about Taln and shouldn't jump to conclusions yet. What are the chances only this (or only two) death rattle is about the past and all others are foretelling? The death rattles confirmed meaning so far are exact to the word, of the future and not easy to guess beforehand.

We never saw Taln dying, only Jezrien claiming it happened. Perhaps there's something even in Prelude of WoK to foreshadow what current Taln's true identity will turn out to be, and what happened to the real Talenel. He used a different variation of the Herald of War's name, not the one Shallan was accustomed to. I wonder if this has any significance to it.
-
Shouldn't Taln's Oathgate, the Stonewards' one, be the gate in Kholinar that Jasnah has failed to open? I find the theory curious. It's possible at the very least. I'm pretty sure there are WoB saying it is indeed strange only one Herald died in such a battle as the one Kalak described. And Kalak notices that Jezrien is acting strange, looking cowardly. edit: I couldn't find the link to the WoB, but thankfully FirstSelector did:

It's curious how Brandon has chosen his wording about Baxil's mistress. He didn't say she was Shalash, and he refers to Taln as 'the person who calls himself Taln'. So may be she is not the real Shalash or something? Anyway, how can Shalash/Baxil's mistress possibly be daughter of kingS? Brandon is always careful with words and this one seems a bit off.

I was under the impression her parents had fights because of what Shallan could do. Her mother saw lightweaving as an abomination and met the whatever-was-the-name people until finally she tried to murder her own child.
-
Hi and welcome! A Rosharian year is 1.1 Earth years, making 10 years old Shallan actually 11, and present Shallan is almost 19. If Lift is 13 in-book that makes her a bit over 14 in earth age.

In the meaning that Szeth follows the law to the letter, despite the fact it is a terrible thing to do all things considered. Szeth is a quite twisted version of a Skybreaker.

I'm pretty sure the spren in the prologue was Ivory, because Jasnah describes him as: which fits the little figure of blackness that Shallan later on saw in Jasnah's hand. We don't really know how Pattern first presented himself to Shallan as this memories weren't in WoR; we only saw when he was bonding anew to her, so he might have been acting differently now then before. I suppose what Ivory did was a form of test. Was Jasnah wise enough to figure out what to do? She claims Ivory defied his kin in going to her, so I see it as natural for him to be careful in his choice. Perhaps he only came to our realm after this encounter when he was certain she could handle what was coming. The Stormfather didn't go psychically to Dalinar, yet they bonded, so I speculate something similar happened here unlike with Kal and Syl.
-
There are WoB that the Dalinar has made only the second oath as a Bondsmith, so the space for the third one should be empty. I've been wondering if one's personality is as important as the attributes. Renarin fits very well the description of Truthwatchers, but I wouldn't say learned/giving are qualities I associate with him that much.

Lighteyes suck at apologising... (some spoilers)

Is everyone assuming Dalinar has made the plan for Amaram's exposure when he talked to Kaladin? If that isn't the case, then he wasn't investigating further at that point, so he told Kaladin the truth, but had a change of heart later and continued. My understanding of the timeline is Dalinar started bonding the Shardblade after his visit, so it's possible he didn't plan on it when his conversation with Kaladin happened. I get from an outside perspective (forgot the right phrase here, sorry) that Brandon was just setting a plot twist here and that required some misunderstanding and lack of communication, but I think an in-book explanation was much needed, to have Dalinar tell Kaladin why he kept it secret or something of the sort. -
No, however I argue that this doesn't fit the way Nightwatcher's boons are supposed to work.
-
May be, but from the little we know Nightwatcher's boons are permanent, so Vargo should have the capacity to save the world at any given day.
-
He literally drools all over himself on his most compassionate days, so he doesn't have the capacity to do anything at those times. I think there's something else to this only I can't quite figure it out.
-
This would basically mean he doesn't have the capacity to save the world, hence he didn't get the boon he asked for, which can't be the case. You get a boon and a curse doesn't interfere with it, else that'd essentially eliminate the boon.
-
My question is: shouldn't T have the capacity to save the world at all days? That's what he asked for. He can't be more capable some days and less capable other days; it doesn't make sense to me. So, does he need intelligence some days and compassion other days? Or is there something else going on?
-
Or may be he could use it prove how great of an author he is: 'I'm so good I once created a minor character/piece of the environment that now has it's own church.'
-
He could be the Herald who went back for his Honorblade for one. Nightblood can't be that Honorblade because... well, it wouldn't make sense. Tanavast created them and gave them to the Heralds. It all happened more than five millenniums ago and Nightblood isn't that old. Edit :Also, if Nightblood is where Nalan's abilities come form, why would he ever give him to Szeth and become powerless?

Nalan wouldn't glow when using Nightblood. Nightblood would had to be drawn and visible and he will be the one consuming the stormlight, not Nalan.

Just because he could use Night doesn't mean he would. There's no evidence at the very least. Now, on the other point I completely disagree. Being emotionless fits his attributes very well the way I see it.
