Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Told myself I'd take a break from the game but just can't pass up on WoT. Burn you Gamma! Waes held the shoe at arms length, inspecting the last few repairs, and smiled with pride. No matter how many worn out wrecks of leather he managed to restore over the years, he never lost his love for a job well done. There was nothing else he'd ever wanted to do with his life. His interest in being a cobbler started at a very young age but that was when he imagined it involved baking delicious fruity desserts. It was definitely a disappointment when he learned that was not the case but the idea was already too ingrained by then. Most people thought repairing shoes to be a menial job but Waes knew better. Whether tending a field, fighting a war, herding sheep, or serving drinks at an inn, everyone needs a good pair of shoes. Some said Tarmon Gai'don was approaching and with all the strange things that were happening it was probably true. Waes was no warrior but he would do his part. Those fighting on the front lines wouldn't fall at the critical moment due to bad footing.- 503 replies

The picture attached to the spam bot posts ALMOST convinces me to dial the number. Those eyes just look like they are reaching right into my soul.

It seems my time standing on the sidelines shall come to an end. Sowing chaos and discord are notions I can get behind so I shall request admittance into this den of disharmony. I would also request to be named the Artisan of Entropy.

Just cause, you know, its my thing. Done one for everyone else. Can't leave out the Lord of Chaos. And a smaller version: Edit: this is actually mostly just a modification of something a graphic artist friend of mine made. I do not take credit for a design of this quality.

Glyphs for Profiles

I had actually done some work on a whitespine a page or two back but didn't feel like it worked all that well when scaled down to an icon. I went ahead and threw an icon together based on it though if you want it. Here is a chasmfiend head that I put together but I'm not all that happy with it. I'll maybe make another attempt at the chasmfiend another time. -
From what I recall, there really wasn't a list of candidates. After RJ died, Brandon wrote a eulogy (Goodbye Mr. Jordan) on his blog about RJ's impact on the fantasy genre, and his influence on Brandon choosing to be a writer himself. Someone showed it to Harriet and she found it very moving. She read Elantris and met with Brandon shortly thereafter. You know what happened after that.

Hello! New member!
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Queen Elsa Steelheart's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Winters are fairly mild here and actually quite comfortable usually. We only get snow maybe once every five years and its just small flurries if anything, not enough to make a snowman. Between May and September though are usually very hot and horribly humid. On it's own heat is not a big deal. I could handle 39 heat just fine. The humidity in conjunction with high temperatures is killer though. Fortunately, this year has been fairly mild and we have yet to see many scorching days. -

Come experience 38 with 100% humidity in Houston. It's wonderful horrendous. -

Other than with dice, it's not very commonly used. It only entered my vocabulary because of Wheel of Time
-
Pips refer to small countable things but is most often used in reference to the dots on dice. "The dice seemed to be spinning in his head, and there was no knowing what pips would show when they landed." It is also very acceptable, nay encouraged, that horses be called Pips. But, I doubt Chaos is giving away horses for the number of posts you make (at least I haven't received mine yet if that is the case).

I learned about Brandon when he was picked to finish the Wheel of Time. While waiting for A Memory of Light to come out, I decided to try out some of his other work and picked up Mistborn. That would have been sometime around late 2011 I think.

Long Game 5: Noble Secrets
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Mailliw73's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The last night I knew we were pretty much dead so there was no point having you as my heir anymore. The idea came to me that it would be funny if the thief ended up as the king (and wanted to make the statement that Awes keeps his word despite being a killer) so I set Jim as my heir. Obviously, a more entertaining option arose when no one voted for me the next day. Jim was still my heir though and Wurum was his heir so both our items went to Wurum. I think Maili had it setup where the hammer death came before the lynch since it was a delayed death from the previous night. I could be wrong though -
I very humbly request mine be changed to this:

How about if they become really teeny tiny allomancy symbols?

Exactly why we targeted you day one. Too bad you lucked into some shardplate. -
---Ignores the fact that he's not Ashiok--- If you enjoy original, creative magic systems, great world building, thrilling action sequences, and clever plot twists, you can't go wrong with Mistborn. They are actually the books that made me realize Sanderson was soon to be my favorite author. Being one of his earlier works, it has some stylistic problems but still an outstanding read. The unwritten Mistborn books will play a critical role in shaping the Cosmere later on as well so definitely something you should read if you expect to be a long term Sanderson fan (or for understanding a large portion of things that are discussed in this forum).

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Technically they were all already dead. But it was purposely left ambiguous if the body being dragged was dead or just unconscious (and likely to die soon). The way each of them died in the RP was supposed to be reminiscent of how they had died in the game. Wes was just assassinated but Summon was betrayed by someone he thought was working with him and Awes had a very slow painful death that ultimately ended with his own Rhysadium finishing him off. I added the dragged by rope part to tie in with the rope theme you had used in the game. I'm confused about what the V is referring to as well. I'm thinking about doing this every few games. Do one throw back to the last few characters then never mention them again.- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Meanwhile.... “Think you can steel from me thief!” Mon attempted to pull one of his many daggers, expecting to teach the man a lesson, but found the hidden pocket empty. The thief smiled victoriously and lifted his free hand to reveal the stolen knife. He then swept it viciously at Mon’s arm and he had no choice but to relinquish his grip on the thief to avoid being injured. Strangely, the man did not attempt to flee once freed. At that instant, something slammed against the back of Mon’s head and he found himself lying face first on the pavement. With great effort, he rolled onto his back to find himself staring hazily up at the thief and messenger who were quickly counting out the gemstones in Mon’s money purse. “Jackpot,” whispered the thief. “This is far more than we expected for the first mark, more than we expected to collect after days of work.” “Yes, it’s enough for us to get out of this void cursed city. We should leave today. There’s no need to keep risking our necks here. Wes my boy, I think it’s time to find greener pastures.” The thief jammed the stolen dagger right into the messenger’s heart and slowly eased him to the ground next to Mon. “Yes, it is about time I moved on. Sorry, Summon, but you knew this partnership was only temporary.” “I am sorry for you as well stranger,” he said as his attention returned to Mon. “You’ve done me a great service today,” the money pouch bounced in his hand again, “but you seem like the type to hold grudges and I don’t want to be looking over my shoulder the whole way to Azir.” He raised the knife to Mon’s throat but just before he could trace a smile, a bloody sword tip sprouted from the center of his chest. He died as quickly as the messenger had. When the body had fallen out of view, Mon found one of his recently acquired compatriots standing over him. “Seems I returned just in time. I thought about letting you pay the price for your carelessness but we’ll need everyone we’ve got. I’m sure you’ll find some way to pay me back for my generosity.” He reached down and picked up the bag of gems the dead thief had dropped. “This should do nicely.” After sliding it into his coat he stepped over Mon, headed for the door. “Stop laying around and get in here. We have a lot to discuss.” Mon shakily got to his feet and looked down at the two dead men. He had very nearly joined them in damnation. It was a stark reminder that no matter how smart or prepared, he could die at any moment in this city. Riots were unpredictable. Just then, stomping hooves came barreling down the street. Mon quickly stepped back against the wall and just barely missed getting trampled by a giant Rhyshadium that was completely painted bright pink. A rope trailed behind, dragging a limp figure. The poor soul was either already dead or soon would be. Mon just shook his head then turned and pushed back through the door into the relative safety of the building.- 384 replies
