  1. Brandon said that "Zahel" is on Roshar because there is something there that he can get much more easily than where he's from
  2. I think Alakavish and Nohadon were before the KR were founded. I'm not sure why I think this, other than that I don't think the KR would bring a people to war.
  3. Are you thinking of the thunderclasts? They're made out of voidspren and rock itself. I'm not sure how the mechanics work, but the voidspren literally animates stone, which pulls out of the ground and starts attacking. See Dalinar's vision at the beginning of WoR. I'm not sure what affect the Everstorm will have on greatshells, but I suspect not very much, otherwise they'd have been attacking the civilians while they traveled to Urithiru after the Everstorm passed.
  4. There's a WoB where he says some of the KR orders would be very happy with what Adolin did. Heavily inferred by body language and expression was that the Dustbringers were one of them. I don't think he's going to go evil, or at least, not Darth Vader evil
  5. I think Pai did those things out of righteous fury, rather than as being one of the diagramists (should there be 1 m or 2??). Having a lazy, selfish, deluded Queen of Alethkar could be reason enough for removal for someone as protective as Jasnah.
  6. I think he's been using a little bit of Stormlight since the visions began, with the visions being the beginnings of the Nahel bond. Examples cited above such as when he catches the claw, and the familiar feeling when he first deliberately breathes it in, as well as how easy it was for him to do so. When the Stormfather started talking to him directly, I think is when he was able to draw in enough to feel it consciously (thus the familiar feeling from the battlefield). Kaladin was able to breathe in stormlight before he actually spoke the ideals, so it's likely Dalinar was able to as well.
  7. Yeah...I wonder if Nalan is right, and surgebinding DOES cause the Desolations? Preventing one would certainly be something the KR would be willing to sacrifice their spren for. Although, in the vision of the Recreance, they sort of just walked away from their Shards, like they didn't care any more, and didn't want to be involved, rather than angry or frightened. Very strange. I figured the Tranquiline Halls were the original human world (Yolen?) and Roshar is where some of them fled.
  8. The important thing in my mind is that whatever the secret is, it made the KR willing to kill their spren partners--pretty much their best friends in a lot of cases. That says to me that whatever it is involves a secret the spren themselves have. Like, maybe the spren betrayed the KR and made them want to sever all ties with their "friends," up to and including killing off masses of them.
  9. I wonder if it has to do with the motives of the spren in bonding with humans?
  10. I think it's a secret he is holding to himself, i.e. holding in his mind/heart/soul to keep from getting out. We need to hunt down Mr. T and get him to tell us!!!!
  11. Nice job everyone!
  12. Is what I did to the first part what you meant?
  13. I can try but it'll take a while I also added the Houston Q&A's, thanks to Awesomeness Summoned!
  14. Added quote http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6398-wor-chapter-84-code/page-20
  15. Syl is the only honorspren to have come to the Physical Realm, so I don't see how Szeth could have natural Windrunner abilities. Also, with Kaladin just sorta breaking his oaths in spirit causing him to lose his powers completely, I'm pretty sure what Szeth has done would have utterly broken any and all spren oaths he might have managed before becoming Truthless.
  16. I agree, the screaming is Eshonai's former self, her conscience maybe, reacting to the horror she's become.
  17. Regular Shardblades had to be enhanced in order to be "bonded," that is, able to be summoned and dismissed. Szeth is able to summon and dismiss his blade. However, Kaladin does not hear screaming when he grabs Szeth's blade after he falls, so it definitely isn't a dead spren.
  18. Any chance that the mosaic of Stormseat has glyphs on it? The brown tiles around some of the houses/buildings look suspiciously similar.
  19. I grabbed the hires version of Shallan's sketches of Pattern (after it'd been underwater), and messed with the brightness and contrast until it's pretty much decipherable. It appears to be made up of lines? They're not exactly tendrils or tentacles, they don't grasp or reach, they just keep circling and multiplying and combining into different patterns. The lines always seem to be connected, either at the centeral root of the Pattern or by dividing off from a root line. The delicate shapes mix and overlap and reduce by multple dimensions. It almost seems to phase in and out between two and three-dimensional space. I think it prefers a surface to connect with, but I have seen it swim through the air on rare occasions. It certainly presents some sense of depth, but the Pattern doesn't appear to possess any consistent dimensions in terms of size. I am almost certain that I have seen this Pattern somewhere before. It shares some resemblance with the creatures I observed in Kharbranth but without the body and those strange robes. Is it possibly a child or variant/servant of theirs? Words in bold I'm not sure of.
  20. The part headings are also a ketek. If you look at the chapter list, you can form the ketek "Alight Winds' Approach Deadly Approach Winds Alight." I did take out a The from that, otherwise it works perfectly. Also in his Acknowlegements, he states, "Finally, Elise Warren gave us some very nice notes relating to the psychology of a key character." I don't know if either of these are helpful or not, but I thought I'd add them in just in case!
  21. Okay I think that I got all of the signing quotes in. Let me know if you spot more, or if I missed any!
  22. Being fire is way cooler than being a stick! Get it? Cooler? Ahahah..a..hah..ahem...
  23. I don't think she ever went back on her oaths enough to "kill" pattern, she just pretended she couldn't see him, etc. She thinks to herself how she can summon her Shardblade (Pattern) pretty much any time, and she can always see the "light" coming from the safe in her father's room.
