  1. Would that make it a Sea Pony?
  2. To be fair. Some of the inconsistency comes from filler- Vegeta blowing up a planet early in the series was invented for the show rather than in the manga. Personally, I have a theory that, in DBZ, power levels scale up as we go. We know from data books that Kid Gokuhad a power level of 10, whereas a farmer had 5. Gokus feats wwere multitudes more than the farmers even then, so 10 =/= twice as strong as five... and five is probably a decent average for "normal" humans in the Dragonballverse. Considering Goku then became literally thousands of times stronger than that? I can't even imagine him fighting cosmere characters, because his power is so far beyond theirs.
  3. Urgh I don't know why, but for the last few days, I've been thinking. Always a dangerous preoccupation... but what I've been thinking about, specifically, has been... well, a girl I used to know. I had a huge crush on her, for... well, a long time. on and off, it lasted years. And a little while before we lost contact, she said something about liking me at one point as well- at which point we decided to simply drop the whole thing because of my lack of comfort with an internet romance, and her coming out of a relationship. That was a few years ago and... i's kind of struck me that I've never really felt so strongly about anyone the way I did about her. So now I'm considering looking her up and seeing how she's doing...
  4. Who is your avatar? At first I thought it might be Galadriel, but doesn't look like her...
  5. Visual mediums of story-telling; the development from cave paintings to comic books. ...Seriously, I was going to do that for a masters. I never went back to do one though, so...
  6. Yeah, I cleaned out my PM's a while ago... and now I'm regretting it. Archer magic systems? Aside from materialising ammunition at will -F/SN yo!- I wonder if some kind of time-distortion would be helpful, Alloy-style... which is also stealing from that franchise, so... ...Hm. I'll get back to you. 4+2=6 There are 6 letters in my name. A quiver is what an archer carries his arrows in. So the answer is whatever archery-based magic system I end up coming up with.
  7. Do you still have spikes? Or did you have to get them again after your absence? Also: Agents of SHIELD season two thoughts?
  8. I... don't. Should I start getting my stream of apologies ready?
  9. I don't know, cause I'm not. I'm... really not lol Honesty it's weird because -technically!- I'm the one who started the whole Pony thing here; there were already fans, but so far as I know I'm the first person who actually posted threads, signatures and had avatars about it. But it didn't really catch on until the Oregoners started to pony-up the Reckonersverse. Ditto with the AMA's. Technically I have the first one -second after Brandon- but I don't think I can claim to be the one who started it; it was other people who started posting their AMA's that got attention to the idea, and the whole thing kind of snowballed from there. At best, I am Fleet; always running just ahead of the next big thing, and not actually being involved in it becoming a Thing. I don't really have an individual favorite episode- at least, not one I can remember off-hand. I like storylines for the show, and there are great moments in each. The most immediate answer I have for Arrow would be "The Promise" in season two... but really, I'm not sure of favorites. Slade! Easily the most well-developed villain on season two, helped by Manu Bennet's magnificent performance. Malcolm is pretty good, but -again- I feel like season three botched him a little bit; the writers seemed inconsistent on how genuine his love for Thea was, which is a problem when that's a major defining trait of the character. Similarly, the long-con ending didn't really seem "smart" enough; I have no problem with Malcolm ending where he did, I just feel like the writers cheated a little to get him there. For non-arc villains though, I quite liked Cyrus Vanch in season one. David Anders is always great, and a genre-savey mob boss was fun; I wish they would bring him back. Favourite cosmere hero... probably Vivenna, or else Vin. Favourite villain would be Denth. He's basically an evil Kaladin, and -in my mind- is played by Nathan Fillion. Yes please. I'm sure that was a compliment, but now, all I can think of is thIs. (I'd turn that into a meme, but imgflip isn't working. Still, I think it gets the point across.)
  10. Is Dragon Age 3 any good? I never played past two. Also, have you played Mass Effect?
  11. Something I read recently that might be of value here. There's apparently a campaign, spearheaded by a student, petitioning for the removal of certain texts from an English course curriculum. The books in question? Sandman and Persepolis. The student said that she opened the comics expecting "Batman and Robin", but was offending by the sex, violence and inappropriate material on display. Its certainly something which gets called on, for a lot of " new" media. And I won't deny that many games and comics that invoke those themes do so to *seem* mature without actually being so. Still, I find it insulting that some people campaign for comics to be removed, while books and cinema depicting the same themes are praised as classics. Particularly when you're talking about freaking Sandman. EDIT For context, this was a university course. I could understand perhaps pulling Watchmen or something from an earlier age group library...but surely by the time you're in college, the same rhetoric can't apply. (Also, not slighting Persepolis; I've heard good things about it. But I've never read it, whereas essaying about Sandman was responsible for a decent chunk of my grade.)
  12. Are you guys still doing Sydney Scroungers? What is your second favourite Cosmere ship?
  13. I just want to go on the record as saying the age difference is one of the reasons I was interested in Jasnah/Jasnadin. A younger man with an older woman isn't really a relationship I've seen much of in fantasy. ...okay, I'm done now.
  14. You know... the second I read the "weird and creepy" comment, I knew what Feather's reaction was going to be. And I'm not gonna lie, I found it kind of funny... ...But man. I agree; her posts really did get me invested into Shallarin as a Thing that was going to happen. (Coincidentally, that oepened the possibility of Kaladin and Jasnah, which was my immediate hope for Kaladin during Way of Kings).
  15. ARE YOU VASHIKARAN BABA JI?!
  16. Some Fluttershy memes. Way of Kings and Mistborn spoilers.
  17. Eh... I think that's too subjective to really be fact. (And I'm kind of replying to your earlier post with regards Arrow in this as well). Anyway, for non-liver action tv... yeah, no. Marvel is producing Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spiderman and Hulk:Agents of SMASH. Those... are three pretty damning indictments on the company right there. Of course, DC is currently producing Teen Titans GO... but they also have a strong backlog of shows like Justice League, and are producing some pretty good animated movies; I'm really looking forward to Gods and Monsters. And for comics... I would wait until September before making a judgement there, since DC and Marvel are both undergoing serious overhauls at the moment.
  18. If your online name is everything, is your world more like the Matrix, or Tron?
  19. There's a lot of people who say they are Elend-like, and I'm the only Vin. So, are you guys gonna fight to the death for my affection, or are we having an open relationship type thing?
  20. So. Princess Spike. Worst of season five? I'm gonan say worst of season five.
  21. Spoiler with horrifying potential in-coming.
  22. FINALLY. ANYWAY. The thing is... I like Arrow. I like that it's a fairly realistic take on a superhero, on all levels. I know that some people are annoyed by the dark and grittiness of it, and by how "Batman" Ollie can be. But I rather like it, because I think it's established very, very early on that that is not a good way to live. The whole story is basically a deconstruction of the dark age hero tropes because -while it might have been effective in the short run-... when Ollie was running and gunning down criminals, his ultimate mission failed, his friend died, he lost the love of his life, his family got blown apart... Season two is amazing because it shows actualy growth for the character. Season three is bad because it feels-in a lot of ways- like a reset to some of the problems of season one... and just to reiterate, season one has a lot of problems. The writers cannot write romance, and I wish they would stop trying. The only good romance arc they had was Felicity and Ollie in season two*, for much the same reason the Ollie Slade rivalry in season two was so effective; it felt organic. Both characters had roles, personalities and -yes- characters beyond their feelings for one another. Season three lost that, because it became the Ollicity show. (Another problem the show has is it's marginalisation of Roy and Diggle; neither character got to do very much of anything this year). But... Agents of SHIELD. I don't know how someone can call the first season good? It was fun enough to watch, I suppose... but it was also very repetitive, kind of bland, and felt like characters weren't going anywhere or achieving anything. Because they weren't, because the producers had to wait for The Winter Soldier. Now... let me make this clear. The ending of season one, after the Uprising? That was amazing. And a lot of that quality bled over to season two. ...But I feel like the second half of season two dropped the ball a little bit. The Inhuman story didn't feel as strong or interesting as the HYDRA stuff. So... on the one hand, we have a show which (one VERY bad season aside) generally maintains a reasonable quality throughout... vs one which I find okay, but which see-saws throughout the season. Add in the phenomenal Flash show, and DC is the clear TV winner. Frankly, I'm just worried that the synergy which helps Marvel is going to damage DC. There's already been two changes to the Suicide Squad in Arrow, motivated by the fact that the characters involved are appearing in the Suicide Squad movie. Frankly, I'd be much happier is WB left the series alone and let them do their own thing.
