What is your proudest accomplishment? Similarly, what are you least proud of? -
Weiry jumps on the bandwagon, anyone have any questions for me?

On the scale of one to Feather, how evil are you? -
Welcome! I've been meaning to read Lovecraft -and have a few pieces of writing which it's required reading for- so... any recommendations on that front? Also, what's your favourite cosmere books?

Red was in the first one. You know... Pokemon Red? Gary was Ash's rival, the guy who was always one step ahead of him in the show, and who beat you to the championship in the games.
-
The original pokémon games featured Red and Blue as the main characters; the anime adapted those characters as "Ash" and "Gary"... though they did release a special a while ago based closer on the games featuring Red, Red is awesome, by the way.

I think this song is pretty fitting for Shallan's background, and some of the lyrics kind of match up (in a twisted way) with how I view her opinion of herself. The visuals are because it comes from a japanese game... but I like the style, and some of the visuals -the breaking cup, the artist, the sword- seemed kind of Shallan-esque, so I thought they might be appropriate.

^^ Can we made this policy, guys? That makes listening to them easier. Also, how do we put videos in posts like that? I'll go back and edit my suggestions so far...

So, I was listening to the songs on this list, and accidentally left autoplay on... leading me to this. Does "Broken Arrow" sound like Vin's assessment of herself to/and about Elend? (Yes, ha ha, the guy with the Arrow themed username and picture is talking about broken arrows)

Oh no! I'm sorry Feather! Whats the politically correct term to describe your dark side fan fiction writing then? -
Honestly, part of my logic comes from the fact that both are pretty much societal outcasts. I can see Jasnah being inteein Kaladin on at least an intellectual level -what with him being a KR and all- and watching her verbally dismantle his racist "Lighteyes are all terrible people" sentiments would be amazing, and I can see her being interested in his medical background. They both have a fairly... practical attitude to philosophy, I think. Plus... she's actually probably one of the characters would would most readily accept him. I'm sure the whole time he'd be incredibly suspicious of her, just like he was with Adolin- possibly even more so, because she's even higher ranked in society and a woman. On her side, I pretty sure the fact that he's a darkeyes means less than nothing to her. Plus... c'mon. The heretical princess of the kingdom being in a relationship with a Darkeye (gasp!) former slave (gasp!) Knight Radiant(gasp!)? That's not a deterent to Jasnah, that's a reason to do it. (...I'm gonna start trying to write a Jasnadin fiction, aren't I?) Anyway, on topic... I honestly dislike Amaram now, but that's not quite because of what he did in the books; it's because Brandon took the character in a direction that I wasn't expecting and that I'm not sure I like. I was hoping that Kal's prejudice -plus the fact that we don't get to see Amaram's sideof things- was building to the revelation that Amaram really is a good man who made a hard decision- one he regrets, one he wishes he didn't have to make and that haunts him, but one he would make again. I was hoping that Amaram was going to be more complex than just a villainous Lighteyes, a moral counterpoint to Kaladin about the dangers of accepting the dea Shards -taking destination over Journey- and what that could lead to. There are some scenes of him in WoR I like -the way he treats his staff, for instance- but... the way the book ended made me lose some interest in the character.

How does it feel not being in the top 10 rep rankings anymore? And does it feel worse than having less rep than me? -
Turn 3 Making this public because I like the writing I did for it, and because I figure someone might notice if my mistborn daughter vanishes from high society, so I might as well let you guys know ahead of time.

I figured this would be a fun thread; what are messages, morals or meanings you can invent from Brandon's books, which clearly weren't what he intended. For example: The Mistborn trilogy is a condemnation of piercings and youth culture. Vin begins the books as a child, symbolised by her brass earring; her earring (and the piercings the Inquisitors have) is the method by which Ruin (a metaphorical devil) controls and influences them, and it is at the end of the book when she removes the piercings that she is able to ascend and become a truly "angelic" entity and combat evil. Any other insane theories of what these books really mean?

So...since Matt Smith is in it, do you plan on seeing the new Terminator movie?
-
So, I made my thoughts on the Goku thread clear; he's too powerful to be physically challenged by most of the Cosmere. Fullmetal Alchemist, on the other (automail) hand is a different story; most of the characters are normal humans, with some exceptions (homunculi, mostly). Still, I think that universe -with normal people whose strength comes from manipulating a magicscience system- is a better comparison to the strengths of the Cosmere. So... The Fullmetalverse on one hand, the Cosmere on the other. How do they compare, and how do fights between their characters go down?

Did you read Death of the Family? If so, what did you think of it? (Also, do you want me to take the comic book/Arrow stuff to PM's? Kind of worried I might be spamming up your AMA and discouraging other people from asking thigns...)
-
Okay, this is me being a little mean, but I found it on imgflip, and it seemed appropriate considering the Goku/Cosmere topic. (Please note that feats have been exagerated for comedic effect)

I'm going to reply to this, but; I will grant that Lord Ruler is a problem. H'es pretty much the only non-Shard I can think of who might pose a problem. (As for Shards, considering we know nothing about them, I'm inclinced to discount them- though being incorporeal, essentially godlike beings does give them an edge against him, and I suspect that they could take Goku, through sheer attrition of messing with the planet if nothing else). The fact that the cosmere characters have weapons is kind of an issue, in part because it's not really clear how weapons affect people in the DBZverse. When it comes to blades, we have a handful of specific examples; Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail, Trunks slicing Freeza to pieces- which suggest they can work if one's opponent is unprepared, or sufficently outclassed... but then, Goku was able to block Trunks' sword by charging a finger with ki, while Android 18 caught and snapped the damnation thing. Theoretically, I think a duralumin-powered coin could kill Goku, but it would be... exceptionally difficult to pull off. I think someone might have calculated the rate that the coin's move at, somewhere...? But Goku is very, very fast. When he just arrived at Namek -prior to recieving his "near death" power up, or even regular Super Saiyan- he was faster than one of the fastest creatures in the universe*. In fact, he was fast enough that said speedster didn't even see Goku moving. And again; he got faster. Heck, standing-in-one-place superspeed was without any of his regular powerups, like kaioken. (Personally, I also theorise that, at those levels, one's perception and cognitive awareness does increase, if only because otherwise you'd probably fly into a brick wall. It's also my explanation as to how a five minute timer for a planet's destruction can last twenty-odd episodes; the characters fighting are just that fast that time is relatively slower. Though I believe Toriyama clarified and said Freiza just made the five minute figure up, so, whatever.) Dragonball Z can be inconsistent in what power levels actually scale out to in terms of feats, it's difficult for me to imagine someone who doesn't have MAJOR bonuses applied to them (such as TLR) being able to keep up physically with him. *Granted, how trustworthy Burter's claim is is debateable. He couldn't have been the fastest, since Freiza outstripped him simply by keeping up with Goku. Then again, Freiza is kind of abnormal in that he didn't really fight much; so we can safely say that Burter was, at least functionally, the fastest.

Fair enough; in that case, do you mind me bothering you with DC/Batman stuff and recommendations then?
-
Yep. Been reading DC since the New 52 started, and picking up backlogged stuff where I can. Actually, what Justice League books have you read? That's one of my monthly buys lol
-
You voted DC in the Marvel vs DC thread. Do you read the comics? If so, what books do you read?
