  1. Hmm. Fair enough. I mean... if she is decently educated, and already show's an interest in Epic's, her following Redlight (in an official capacity or otherwise) isn't exactly that egregious. (If it is an unofficial type thing - less "I have a job!" and more "She stopped telling me to go away!"- that might explain not being around Reader. I mean...what security risk could a dorky genki girl with a camera possibly be?) Any objections to a post about a hoodie wearing papparazzi hanging around outside a building to get a shot if Vapour. Snake.
  2. Actually, what is the state of the Dalles education system? Do they have school? Would Lyla/Robyn/whatever even be able to read or write? So..yeah, guess I'm leaning towards Redlight, though retconning in an assistant at this point might be tricky? Unless I had her written off-screen because she was waiting for pictures from the Panda Invasion to develop. (Or, alternatively, have her hear about Vapour Snake and have her be, basically, stalking him and Autumn right now)
  3. Working very closely with Red light would also give her plenty of opportunity to test out her "epic radiation" theory. Honestly, one thing I had been considering was...the Jimmy Olsen thing, Lyla/Robyn collecting and taking photographs of Epics for herself. Considering Red light has photographs, it might not be too much of a stretch for some kind of connection there.
  4. Sparks. Reader would have good reason to out a Koschei fangirl fairly quickly, wouldn't he? Working around him might...actually make the concept harder than I thought.
  5. Ya know, maybe I've been thinking too much about Batman v Superman, but the Stockholm thing actually makes me think of Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane (particularly Silver Age versions). Part of the thing with those comics is that they're obsessed with Superman. Lois is constantly trying to figure out his secret identity, Jimmy is his pal/super-clingy best friend. I'm still using Lyra as a base (either Lyla or Robyn as a name), but considering Steelheart is "evil Superman", doing " evil" Jimmy Olsen/Lois Lane seem's appropriate, almost? How much do people really know about Koschei? While Lyla could be obsessed with Epics in general, I can imagine her pulling a David, and trying to get everything she can find about Koschei. It could even be passed off as a 'he was a traumatic figure, people have feelings about that', rather than 'she is obsessed and adores him'. Hmm. There might be some Harley Quinn in there, actually... But, having a professional "excuse" to be around Epics all the time? That would be useful for her, I think.
  6. So...here's my thoughts. A pretty young kid, maybe sixteen or seventeen; point is, she's too young to remember the world before Epics. And post-Calamity...well, Epic's are too big a thing to ignore. Add in some repressed trauma related to the Deathless One, and you've got a character who wants to be an epic, who is obsessed and fascinated with them, who spends her free time fangirling over them. And part of that will, undoubtedly, be played as comic relief. But I figured there are some interesting, stormed up implications from it, too. I'm just trying to figure out how to fit a kid into the Dalles. (Though the 'annoying tagalong getting underfoot' trope might apply here...)
  7. Hmm. Blackhoof offered the idea of epic fangirling as a coping mechanism after a family massacre. Koeschi is the top dog villain who killed a lot of people. ... Fangirling over a guy who, potentially, wiped out your family is messed up in ways that could be kinda interesting to write.
  8. Well, I'm making my way through Dalles...but they probably would work well as a pair. Even if I need names for them. Lyla and Robyn? Eh... I'll figure something out. (Actually...would Lyla being a fangirl of Koeschi be...too odd?)
  9. Ya know, my first character concept was an epic hating soldier in the Dalles. Granted, he was a male (and based off of Dick Grayson), but still. Easily adjustable to Bonnie...
  10. Allomantic iron. Huh. Neat, Anyway, besides that, I try to censor myself. The only one that get's through is damnation, and that's mostly because I know it'll get extended to...er... damnation, anyway. Besides that, I think my default "curse to show how shocked I am" is "Sweet Harmony". Whether I'm referring to Cosmere!Harmony or MLP!Harmony is an exercise for the readers.
  11. Oh, jeez. I have to back Anathem on general principle. If you want cryptic, I really can't think of anything better. Or worse. I got a copy a few years ago, and barely made it through the first chapter before being so hopelessly lost that I had to shelve it.
  12. I like the idea, just haven't had the chance to look through gifter epic's and pick one for her fan club yet. Anyone wanna bid on a crazy epic fangirl? C'mon! How can you say no to this? (Epic!Human!Lyra will absolutely write Epic fansongs and ballads. This is a thing she does) ...Though, er, sidenote. Tangetially related to this (in that it involves creating characters). Is there any advise you guys have for how to.. well, do better about roleplaying? Not sure if my stuff so far has been "good enough".
  13. So... anyone else here listen to this? To those of you who have never heard of it, dudes. Stop right now. Go listen to it. You can thank me later. ...What? You still need convincing? Fine. Welcome to Night Vale is an audio drama series available on Youtube; it presents the story of a town in the middle of a desert told by the host of the local radio station; all the usual kind of small-town stuff, like the local football matches, the upcoming backsales, the blood stone circles, the Vague-Yet-Menacing Government conspiracy you know, that kind of thing. There is, very much, a Gravity Fall's tone to the whole thing... or, rather, Gravity Fall's has a Night Vale-ian tone to it, since (I'm pretty sure) Night Vale came first. There's also something of a Twin Peak's-vibe to the whole thing in my opinion, particularly in the early episodes (which lean a little more towards horror). In case it's not obvious? I'm a big fan of it. So I'm curious if anyone else here is, too.
  14. via Imgflip Meme Maker ...Anyway! I'll try and bat some ideas around and get back to you? I'm considering that Rob(in) idea I mentioned a little bit ago, but I'm pretty flexible with regards any potential character so... Yeah. I'll think about it, and get back to you?
  15. I'm getting caught up on Arrow verse, slowly. In the meantime... Roy needs to "stay underground" to protect Ollie's secret. Am I the only one wishing that would mean Roy joining the cast of Legends of Tomorrow?
  16. Okay, so. Feedback.Firstly -and this is strictly a personal things- I disliked the color coding. Now, I will grant that is subjective, and I understand why it happen's; the collab is, effectively, a series of posts done at once rather than a sequence of replies. Separating them out into base replies makes sense, and makes it easier to comment on. (And it gives each person "their" credit). It's not a style I, personally, am enamoured with, but it's a necessary evil, so whatev's. As for the content itself, bare in mind I am divorcing it from any context. I know nothing about Corvalis, or these characters. I am basing it solely off what you've presented us with. So, with that in mind. This is a fight scene. And I will applaud you both for avoiding the trap I fall into, where I narrate every action my character takes and pad my posts out. By contrast, this was a very quick-paced action scene. However, I would add that it doesn't leave much to get my teeth into. There is characterisation -I'll address that in a minute- but what it ultimately is is a (functional) action scene. Possibly a bit too quick, but not bad. Of the two characters, Drainer is (in my mind) more interesting. Part of that comes from the fact that he is in a position if weakness, and traditional narratives have conditioned us to root for the underdog. If I was going to point out something Mestiv did which you did not, it would be the working of character background into the scene. Drainer makes reference to his servants laughing behind his back; it's a very human concern, which immediately makes us emphasize with him. Again, I'm not criticising ThunderSpear. There are hints of characterisation in your segments. His possessiveness, for instance, doesn't appear to stem solely from an "I'm an epic, I do what I want!" place, which raises curiosity... But, ultimately, we aren't allowed to see much of ThunderSpear. Which works fine as a certain character type but, when commenting on this one, specific post, it makes it difficult to analyze him. Right now, he appears very much as the Steelheart to Trainer's David, with all the good and bad things that implies (effective villain vs distance and mystery). ...but, again. Random thoughts, based on ONE POST. Which is hardly conclusive evidence. In other news, I might tinker with LT some if you don't mind. Selfish question, is my Salem post okay? Worried I rushed it too much, but... My thought is that Sentry is smug, condescending, secure of herself and vain. Having a picture defaced isn't just -in her mind- maybe a sign of someone knowing her weakness and an insult to her Soulcasters rule, it's also a personal insult...and so unusual that it's taken her aback.
  17. I haven't had time at all, let alone time to look into this. Sorry...but are you still accepting players? Any roles that need filled? Unrelated: does anyone know if there are any maps of Hogwarts? I need school blueprints for something else, and figured it was worth asking.
  18. I was speakig to my manager about a mistake I made at work - a mistake that led me to kind of having a panic attack, self-flagellation and spending the past two days worrying that I was fired. His words: "Sorry, with [the other managers] off, I didn't have a chance to get back to you. Don't worry about it, we'll talk about it next time you're in". So... I don't seem to be fired? I think? So I'm happy.
  19. Hello, and welcome to this crazy ride we call the 17th Shard!
  20. I'd like to see Love Triangle! As for feedback... er... link to the post, please? i haven't been keeping up with much beyond Salem lately, but I'd be happy to provide feedback...
  21. I've been busy lately. Urgh. So, while I await season six... I figured I'd post some reviews of MLP Fanfics here. (Speaking of, I really need to get back on FiMFiction. I have a Bon Bon/Octavia story I really want to write...) So.. yeah. Here's a review of Burning Siren's, a fic I rather liked.
  22. So... figured I'd try cross-promoting. Because I am such an attention-seeker. Any requests?
