Posted this elsewhere, bit: apologies for my own heatedness. I think I got a bit too stressed from too many things, political and otherwise, and I snapped a little. (No Cosmere magic yet. Then again, this is Earth, so I should be testing for epic powers instead, yes?) Sorry everyone. I'll try do better.

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Quiver replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
I think that I got a bit too stressed out and might have lost my mind somewhat. Apologies to anyone I offended, especially with regards politics. As I said, before and elsewhere... 2016 has not been a good year for me, personally. Kind of worried that talking too much about it will seem like I'm whining for attention...but I think a convergence of things just boiled over, and I snapped a little bit. I am currently making my way through the allomantic table to see if there was an upside to that. Sorry everyone. All I can say is, I'll try and do better. -
This year has left me rather unhappy. My country voted against Brexit, but will be pulled out regardless. I've put on all the weight I lost. I've spent all my time working, and thanks to circumstances, I have no money to show for it. I've ended up questioning and losing faith in myself -in how I identify, what I believe in, and what I'm worth- and I've spent more than a fair amount of this year swinging from happy to sad erratically.Multiple family members have had serious, ongoing medical scares. I've made no progress in my writing. Less than no progress. I've considered dropping writing as a hobby and a career all together. And now, Trump. President Trump. Who is terrible for all the reasons enumerated above, by people smarter than I will ever hope to be. It doesn't feel real, that an utterly repugnant monster could be elected president. That my co-worker could say they are "over" being annoyed by it, or that he'll be "good for the world," in the long run. But it feels horribly inevitable. Of course that was how this year was going to end. With an unbelievable betrayal. Why do I feel like that? I'm not an American. I've often expressed frustration at American jingoism and patriotic fever. But when I was a kid, I loved America. I loved American shows. I loved American accents. It seemed like an amazing place, more exciting and interesting than the middle of the road, back end if nowhere countryside I lived in. This is insane. I don't know why I feel this way. But I'm angry, and I'm sad, and I'm disappointed. And I don't have the words for it. Trump is monstrous. He's a narcissistic egomaniac with no interest in anyone other than himself. He demeans women, insults soldiers, vilifies immigrants who work harder in one day than he has his entire life. And the funny part is? For all that, he has no actual political beliefs. No actual ideologies to pursue. Trumps creed is Republican or Democrat, low class or big business. The only thing Donald Trump cares about is Donald Trump. And now I wonder how long it's going to be until his voter base realises it.

Between elections and personal stuff, 2016 is going in my calendar as the worst year ever. More eloquent response post-work.

Just wiki'd. I git as far as 'Parasitic, socially withdrawn, hikkimori'. Had to Google the last one, but I regret to say: Maximum Satou has been achieved.

I should probably research on before I know if the comparision is flattering or not. Seriously. Damnation. I can track my resurgence in anime interest to a few series I watched lately.

Haven't I'm afraid. Name sounds familiar though?

Introducing Fantasy to my Book Club
Quiver replied to natalie.perkins's topic in Entertainment Discussion
What books do your club normally read? What is their opinions on fantasy? Might be a good idea to show them fantasy crossed with their preferred genre before going full on fantasy. -
I am...far too excitable. I tend to flit from topic to topic pointlessly, and when I find something I like, gush and imitate until the next thing comes along. Current expression of that: 'Steins;Gate is so cool. I wish I could make a visual novel!'

@Oversleep @Nightbird Honestly, I was surprised by how little the movie tied into the broader Marvel Universe. It seemedvery newbie friendly (maybe too much so for my liking, honestly), so you should have no problem following it.

A while back, I posted a link to Moonrise, a Symphonic Metal orchestra about the rise of Nightmare Moon. And it clocked in at about 25 minutes. "Wow, that's long," I said. "Cool song though." I just happened to check in on the L-Train's channel. I've been busy lately, but I wanted to listen to Moonrise and what in the name of Celestia is this. Symphonic Metal Orchestra about King Sombra. Clocking in at 50 minutes. ...Well. Okay then. I'm starting to listen to it now, so...

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!

Urgh. The US election. I think I've said my piece before. As a non-US citizen, it is frustrating to watch; particularly since the outcome will have a significant effect on the rest of the world, yet all we can do is watch. If I didn't have away shift tomorrow, I'm sure I would be sitting up all night waiting for the results. I have trouble sleeping at the best of times; I've had to start taking anxiety tablets before bed, because otherwise I wake up at 2am, freaking out that I'm late for work. I'm going to need a whole box of them to get through tonight without waking up in a cold sweat at the thought of President Trump. -
This is fantastic. Young Justice deserves the chance to finish it's story. Nut as a comic book fan, I'm intrigued. Young Justice was responsible for popularising a lot of characters - Artemis and Miss Martian especially- who are now making their way into other media. Will be interesting go see what the show does with that...

See, Twilyght agrees. Listen to the Green Arrow's suggestions.

I recommend checking out the "Cosmere character themes" thread. It has a lot of cool music. One game soundtrack -i recommend the whole game, too- would be 'the World Ends With You'. Very cool music. Can't quite describe the style; might be more electric than you're looking for. If you don't mind MLP fan songs, I'd highly recommend Aviators and Slyphstorm on YouTube. Both have non-pony work (Aviators did an Avengers fan song recently), but their lyrics are fantastic. Snowblind is a favorite song. Finally... Miracle of Sound. Another great YouTube channel, lots of fandom music for movies and games. My personal favorite right now is 'Take it Back'

I recently caved to comments and picked up a copy of Steins;Gate. This was a terrible mistake. I do not have the amount of time to devote to this game that I want to, and I am emotional wreck. All of which is to say that this is fantastic, and I'd love to see more in that vein! ...but it doesn't seem to be an especially supported genre in English. So, figured I'd just go ahead and ask; anyone got recommendations? (Not that I can play them for a while. Still on my first Steins;Gate playthrough)

Fun overcomes a lot of problems. I'm curious to see why Thawne is teaming up with Darkh though. ...also. Arrow AU fic idea:

That first episode of Legends was...really awkward. Wait, let me back up. I liked stuff in it.It's much goofier in it's premise, which isn't a bad thing; a team of superheroes hunting down time pirates doesn't need to be serious. And, with that being the case, I'd argue that Damien Darkh will fit in a lot better than he did on Arrow (since season 4 veered towards being too bright, campy and comic book at times). But... But man, the episode structure was strange. Why was Oliver involved if he wasn't going to do anything? Why did they skip over Hourman's cliffhanger from last year? It feels like a reboot of the show concept, which...again, not a bad thing! Season one was flawed (with potential), so calling a do-over? I'm cool with that. I just wish the script was stronger. And, I suppose, I'm amazed that Barry still hasn't cameo'd yet, but Oliver got both pilots. It maybe goes against the lesson Barry learned this year, but I think I would have preferred if he got the guest appearance slot instead of Oliver. (Actually, I think my preferred solution would be to have Barry and Nate run through time to collect the Legends, doling out the mystery of their separation that way, but whatever. would have been cool foreshadowing of Eobard, too.) Still, solid fight choreography. Ray remains adorkable, and I love him. Sara is still awesome, and I love her. Mick is still Mick. So...the episode was okay. Maybe my least favorite of the three premieres this year, but whatever. The appearance of the Justice Society has my attention.

Would Vin be considered a anti hero if she took the power
Quiver replied to Cloud Farren's topic in Mistborn
Honestly, this is an AU I am very interested in, and if I ever had the time, inclination, or players, would probably form the basis for a MAG game. -

Flash, Arrow and Supergirl UK have done their second episodes, while Legends started last night. I haven't seen Legends yet, and I need to watch the last... seven or so episodes of Supergirl. As for Flash and Arrow, though... Flash was alright. Wish the Rival had a better suit, but I'm excited to see a non-speedster villain this year. Though Jay was awesome, though. It was a quirk turnaround from "He can never know he is my father's doppleganger!" to, "Hi, I'm your not!dad!", but still. Shipp has much more screen presence, charisma and impact as Jay than he did as Henry... though, admittedly, my feelings on Henry Allen as "father of the year" might be influencing that opinion. Sara becoming John was annoying, even if I really liked Conor last year. As for Arrow, though? Another good episode, albeit with some odd parts. Like, how did Oliver suit up so quickly off-screen at the medical event? Since the CEO got away, does that mean the city is still on the hook for millions of dollars? I really liked Blackthorne's portrayal of Captain Lance though; you could tell the second he walked into the room that the guy was drunk, without going the stereotypical slurring stumbling. I'm also finding myself liking the reduced Felicity presence this year; she works better as a supporting chaarcter than a main one. Curtis had a quick turn around on the vigilante thing but hey, if it gets him into a Fairplay jacket, I'm all for it. Mister Terrific is kind of a cool guy. I admit, I do find myself torn on the Laurel death still. I like the motivation for this series, and I think Ollie putting together a team of heroes is a fantastic idea. I like the fact that Laurel caused that. But as I've said elsewhere, she had so much development over the third and fourth seasons that I really wanted her to win. Green Arrow and Black Canary teaming up to train the new recruits might have been too many cast members, but it would have been so very cathartic. Still, Iguess they're doing the best with what they have. (I said the same thing last year, though, so I don't want to be too positive. Season 4 was kind of awful on the whole, so.... yeah. Cautious optimism still)

I must have a really good poker face. I've been complaining a lot about the American election at work. Somehow, my colleagues have gotten the impression that I am our residential American politics expert... to the extent that I spent an hour this morning telling a guy what Guantanimo Bay is, how congress works, and what the deal with the American Constitution is. I realize none of that is really indepth information or anything, so I was surprised the guy didn't know about it. I was even more surprised that, apparently, I sound like I know what I'm talking about, when I have a really simple, basic understanding of how stuff works. I've said it before: my English degree has taught me how to give the impression that I know what I'm talking about.
