  1. 8I'm mostly a lurker in the 17th shard but I post now and then when I feel I may have something to input I post. I'm intelligent but always had a learning disability and grammar was always my weakest point in school so bear with me as I try to put my thoughts down. Alot of this uses mistborn and wobs to draw conclusions. Ill explain myself without spoilers and add them at the end. "I am Unity" "He wasn't suppose to Ascend". And all the other quotes pointing to Dalinar Ascending to a shard or shard level powers. I think he's something new, a combination of powers. He was groomed to be odiums champion, spent many years addicted to the thrill. It wasn't until he went to the nightwatcher and Cultivation intervened to weed out the bad memories so he could change. Without alot of the horrendous memories he had he was able to forgive himself and start to make a change for the better. This new Dalinar was able to become a man honorable enough to become a bondsmith able to bond the stormfather who merged with honors cognitive shadow. Dalinar has strong ties to all 3 shards. Now this can go a few ways. He has access to some power of all 3 shards he was connected to the spirtual realm where most investiture exist and could of grab some of all 3 shards power even if odium and Cultivation aren't splintered. Not enough to become a shard but enough power to Ascend. Another way it could go. He picked up part of honor and Cultivation power again not enough to become a shard but to ascend. Going with the idea cultivation has worked with honor in the past so she would have no problem cultivating a weapon to destroy odium. Then of course it could just be honors power and his shadow is what keeps saying unite them and deeper bond with the storm father gave him access to honors CS who retains part of honors power. And is using those powers to bring the relms together because this is what honor did in the past before he splintered. More on this in spoilers. Now the third idea fits best to the statement "But we killed you". But given the bulk of the power Dalinar uses to Ascend is from honor because he's shattered it could be an assumption on Odiums part that it is Honor. Mostly mistborn spoilers below. To go even farther on wild theroy If your still with me thanks for sticking through to the end. Please let me know what you think. Try not to be to hard on me but I'm open to any constructive criticism.
  2. Nice theory but I can't get on board with odium is in urithiru. I'm of the opinion the sibling will power urithru. The oathgate part is plausible but I think they are being taken over to keep the radiant from using them. Not all can fly and elsecalling isn't as simple as I'm gonna teleport to this place. If he's able to prevent the knights from showing up in a huge force it just makes the job of taking a city easier. I do like how your thinking outside the box I just feel this idea is off.
  3. I took away something totally different from SH
  4. I wasn't able to find a thread about this but I was doing a reread of oathbringer and ran across a few things that gave me an idea of how the Parshmen were created. The beginning of chapter 80 it said During during the chapters kaladins a captive he's talking to them. This is from memory so no direct quote. He's told they lost their connection, their identity. There's a few other things that I could reference but I'm not good at finding them. Anyways I think this event happened. They were able to capture the unmade and the parsh she was connected to became the Parshmen. They few that weren't connected became the parishendi.
  5. When wax asked. "How's it taste". Wayne responded "like cotton candy made of baby"
  6. Thanks ill make sure to do that in the future. I didn't mean for it to be a limiting factor for radiance. Being a surgebinder doesn't make you a radiant. The swearing of the oaths levels them up but puts a limit on who can level up. Say you attract an honor spren. That bond makes you a surgebinder with minor abilities. As you speak the oaths Rather ideals of what the oaths mean. Without the I will protect those who can't protect themselves ideal they won't level up And stay sugebinders. Saying the ideals or in shallans case truths increase your power and in the end you become a radiant when you fully HONOR you orders ideals.
  7. At the end of words of radiance didn't he say the second bondsmith ideal. The first ideal being life before death ect. The visions being a part of their bond. I'm not sure how long he's had the visions but he's been reading way of kings for a while. The stormfather didn't seem very happy with to be bonded so he kept his role hidden but dalinar was still able to draw stormlight. How long that's been going on y'all probably know better then I do.
  8. I'm a long time lurker but my ideas of Bondsmiths are making me speak up. I'm not great with written words so please bear with me. I don't know how to make spoiler tags and ill be touching down in everything current including the oathbringer prologue. Consider yourself warned.
  9. How about a shard ashendari!? No I'm thinking along the lines the rope weapon but instead make it a simple whip. With a little imagination though could turn the into a devistating cutting weapon. Think instead of leather or even a chain whip like you see castlevainia, think linked razor blades. That would solve the not being a cutting weapon problem and give a devestaing reach and manuverability. I think its biggest downfall would be plate. We've seen plate destroyed in a few ways but also took multiple strikes to the same area, even in Andolins deuls if memory serves me right it took 3 blows with a shard blade to destroy peice of plate. Would Kaladins shardhammer used on Szeth be able to smash it in one hit? So a light weapon would take even more to destroy it. That being said I think differnt orders would have weapons more effective for them then others. I could see Lift gliding across a battle field using a whip like weapon or even on a rope above using it to reach down. If Jasnah can use her elsecalling abilties to move through a battlefield in a nightcrawler kind of way I could see a sword being more effective. Shallan with her abilties to blend in with her enemies wouldnt want an obvious weapon, so maybe daggers/assassin type weapons. But Limiting yourself to one type of weapon is giving away the best advantage of having a spren blade and thats being able to adapt to the situation. Every weapon will have strengths and weaknesses. Your up against 10 men no plate yea a sharp razor whip would make easy work of them. 3 men in shardplate and the whips worthless. HAMMER TIME. Much more effective.. edit: It just came to me, against plate a shift in thinking could turn it into more of a castlevainia morningstar whip to help bash away the plate but it would still be hard.
  10. I was just sitting around thinking about our pal nightblood and had this thought. What if nightblood is a lifeless shardblade. WoB stated that nightblood is exactly the same as a shardblade. I need to reread warbreaker for some names and a refresh of events. From WoR we know Zahel/Vashar is a worldhopper. In warbreaker we learn at the end he is the king from the past who caused a major war and stopped it. Then he gave his massive store of breath away to the god king left his stone army and vanished. During his absence Him and his lady friend I dont remember her name created nightblood. What if during that time they worldhoped over to Roshar and got their hands on a shardblade, possibly a skybreakers old blade and awakened it. Thus creating a lifeless spren. With the command destroy evil complimenting the skybreakers. The spren awakens with limited intelligence like a human lifeless but is no longer in a state of agony. Also giving him such a large amount of investiture and from 2 different worlds, therefore different shards makes him something more. This would also open the door to him giving szeth surgebinding and the ability to draw stormlight without the honour blade. His power being born of 2 shard worlds would explain why WoB ay hes so much more then a shardblade. This probably isn't true but was fun thinking about but I there i the slim chance I might be on to something. What do you guys think, Any other ideas about how some of the worlds magic systems could cross like this. I just found this thought i would add it. Q: If Nightblood were on Roshar would he be a Shardblade? A: Yes, they are exactly the same thing. He is a Shardblade that is twisted and is a lot more powerful than normal.
  11. Their are alot of topics about this but youve pretty much sumed up all the accpeted ideas. I think WoB has confirmed baxils mistress is shalash and scarface is nalan.
  12. I agree with the original poster Sanderson is on a level higher then anyone I've read. But I read havent nearly enough authors so im sure there are some out there that wont be a complete disappointment. I love the sword of truth series but goodkind is turning into a one trick pony. Give your charactors awesome powers then take them away so they are rarley if ever used....separate the main charactors and drone on how much the miss each other, Martin just moves to slow, Jordan was great i loved the WoT and thats how i learned who sanderson was well ill stop the author bashing but Mr Sanderson is a genius writer thats the best word i know to describe his skill
  13. I never questioned that the broken one was odium. Three of the 16 ruled, honor, cultivation, and odium. If im not mistaken i think in one of Dalinars visions tanavast said odium reigns. might of been talenet its been a while since I read TWoK, but i do remeber that statment. To me I think your reading into the WoB to much, He had alot of room to hedge his answer even possibly didnt understand the point you were after. If odium is the 3rd shard that could be saying honor is the 1st cultivation is 2nd odium is 3rd, the broken one reigns meaning the 3rd shard . change the order and its still truehonor is 1st odium is 2nd cultivaion is 3rd. The broken on reigns could still be odium. Three kings of equal power rule over a world for 50 years. But every 10 years they declare war and fight. they stay even for 40 years but on the 50th one prevails over the others and now rules the world. You would say the 3rd one reigns. Thats how i see those statments.
  14. right and thats where elantris is located which is shaped like a Aon glyph and gives that people the ability to to go through the shaod. To blow it up for an example would to be create another city similar to Elantris in another country on sel, sorry I can't remember their names. But using their land as a base for glyphs. It seems the magic on sel is glyph based, the monks had them imprinted on their bones, the soul engraving was a series of stamps. If an elantrian went to that city and learned their glyph system they could use their power. That would be large scale. On a smaller scale would be creating it yourself on a cosmere planet to access the dor elsewhere. We've seen vasher on roshar and WoB says he gets somthing there alot easier then he does at home...Breaths, he uses stormlight to feed his need for breaths. Also we've seen a certain badass sword that will be using stormlight in the near future. So using a foreign power to fuel your own abilities isn't outside the relm of possibility but due to the nature of the Aon Dor it would be very difficult to pull off but i think thats how it COULD be done.
  15. I was just reading through a post and was reminded about the fact that the Aon Dor weakens the farther the user is from Elantris. I think this has to do with the glyphs representing the land. It would be incredibly hard but if a elantrian was able to make new glyphs using the local land as a base would they be able to still access the Dor. If thats the case that could bring interesting ideas to the cosmere. We know we have an elantrian on Roshar and no doubt hell make his way to other shard worlds. So if this works he could in theroy use the continent of Roshar as a base and use the dor there. Also even on Sel be able to use a stronger dor in other parts of the world. Just a random idea and thought I would throw it out there and see what you guys think.
  16. I think the siah aimians might be the radiants of the aimian race. We've seen other races added in later books thats mentioned in passing. like mistorn with the kandra and koloss. I think later in the series they will play a big role in things to come
  17. I think the reason syl isnt as aware as wyndle is the fact she crossed over against the stormfathers wishes and she lost her memories in the process. The longer she is bonded to Kaladin the more she recovers. With wyndle its it says he was sent to Lift by the circle. To me i think they helped him cross over with his memories intact. Pattern seems to be a little different if i remember right he chose to be bonded but it seems that Shallan pulled him out of the cognitive realm when she took a memory and drew him but i think he mentions he had support from the other spren to learn from the experience. He was dumb as a brick at first but got smarter very fast. Now with the stormfather seems to be coming around maybe syl will start remembering more faster.
  18. Kaladin has always done a lot of soul searching. Even in the way of kings and through WoR he speaks about not being ableto be the person he was back in Aramams army. He view him self something different. He was broken by the slaver then bridge four and what came away was a reforged man. It is how he sees himself. I don't think they will go away, atleast until he he comes to terms that hes no longer that man anymore. Possibly when he truly excepts hes a radiant they will go away until then this is how he sees himself.
  19. I am a stick But you could be a jalapeno on a stick and i shall call you Jose, I am a stick And you still will be a stick but better because you will be jose the jalapeno on a stick I am jose the jalapeno on a stick Doesn't the jalapeno burn? Yes It burns So your a burning sticks? Yes I am a burning stick (poof fire)
  20. I dont think he could carry the blade around for a week and not be seen in order to be able to bond it, yes Dalinar did it while claiming to be sick but I'm sure some people knew what he was doing. I don't think its out of character for Andolin to be the one to do it. Hes wanted his blood since the beginning of TWoK. Hes tried other ways to get to him like in the dueling arena. His father did alot to keep him in check throughout both books. He's just finished a battle against VOIDBRINGER, his beloved horse is dead, his father, bother, fiance and biggest rival (kaladin) come out as radiants. Then he finds himself alone with Sadeas listening to him plan out how to take down his father with a smile on his face. The voidbringers have returned, the world is in danger and here sits a man that still wants to divide people and take the throne for himself. So Andolin comes to the conclusion that Sadeas must die. I don't think he will feel remorse it's was like putting down a rabid dog, it was just something that had to be done. He got rid of the shardblade because a High prince was just killed, there will be an investigation possibly a search for the blade. There is also WoB that some orders would be very happy with how he handled the situation. It could possible open a reason for darkness to come after him after he bonds a spren.
  21. I think the honorblade is "bonded" when its given to the user. That explains why szeth can summon and dismiss it at will and when nalan says hes been dead long enough to to break the bond.
  22. Personally I think shard plate is going to come with the oaths. The interference plate has with sezths lashings is because its not his plate/spren. Lets take Kaladin and syl for expample. When Kaladin speaks the correct oath...the 4th or 5th syl will be able to become shardplate and kaladin will be able to use his lashings because its syl the created it. I think the lashing interference is an added bonus to prevent others from using their lashing on you.
  23. Nothing on my nook yet. Hurry up!
  24. I was thinking along the lines that all of the heralds have been seen or mentioned in twok. One of the things to look out for are people with no accents. Since Kaladin picked up on the fact he had no accent though he looked azish is what made it stand out to me. And it could pass as a herald being seen. I cant say that it is a herald but i can see that as a way to sneak one in there. And it seemed Kaldins power might of tweaked a little there, the cut on his cheek was already healed, he healed fast before but that was the 1st mention of him healing in the same battle. We have seen other heralds with mainly darkness after other surgebinders. He might not be the only one looking for them. And in kaladin saw someone worthy. just wild speculation while i wait for midnight and get my nook copy or WoR
  25. I just ran by this is my reread. It was when bridge 4 went on a run rear the end of the book when dunny dies. Bridge 4 didn't loose loose a man till they he was trampled. This was a moment of change, Kaladin started helping other wounded bridge crew members. Then I noticed the man with the arrow in his leg they said this about him. He says how. will i get back to camp if i cant walk. but he had no accent and though he had dark skin like a azish. not a direct quote just from memory, but could this of been a hearld. Possibly testing kaladin. The final hold outs came around maosh said he was wrong about him, im not sure if im just reading to deeply or if it could be a herald and if so which?
