  1. Im, um, just gonna sit here and continue my reread of Rothfuss til Tuesday.. *sniffle*
  2. I think Mr Sanderson realized Balderdash was a perfect anagram for Shardblade and said, Oooohhhh, ill just drop this in the middle of a Hoid speech... And then laughed maniacally.. because since everything Hoid says is meaningful, Balderdash becomes meaningful purely in the context of the story.. Gibletish and figgldygrak would be the words id look for meaning in. Im sure of it. Mr Sanderson knew there would be theoryists who caught it and just wanted a good solid laugh.
  3. Hoid Rock Teft Because all 3 are a huge unknown and all have solid parts to play in the story. Ive never been a big fan of the quarterback.. the other players and the work that they do has always been more interesting to me.
  4. @Stoneward. I also read 'Stoneward' and immediately keyed on a Tank role. Pitiful Paladin tank, here, but i really dig the analogy. A Stoneward would not only need to be physically resilient and tough, but would also need the ability to gather and process information about their surroundings at an incredible rate.. Stone: resilient, tough Ward: passive shield or active defender... isnt Shallan a WARD of Jasnah? I think intelligence and the ability to process information are requisite if you are an active protector of anything.. I like this... which probably means ive got it completely wrong.
  5. I read that in my E-book version and just assumed it was because he had brown eyes and the stormlight just lightened his natural eye colour.. Thanks Peter, you just poked a hole in my favourite theory. *sniffle*
  6. I have trouble with the idea of spren being contained in the shards. Its like my 'b' string being slightly out of tune. It just doesnt feel or sound quite right.. I am in the camp of "Spren help create shards once the Ideals have been spoken". The other way 'round seems too parasitic to me. I like the more symbiotic answer, myself. Edit: Spelling..
  7. Dunno. 20 something year old heroes sure do get the jump on some ancient and immortal Bad Guys often enough that i wouldnt be surprised.. Heh...It may even end up being the most "Epic Rap Battle of History"
  8. "I will bear the burden of....?" Leadership? Responsibility? The sound of it hits my noodle right though. I like it muchly, which will probably make it wrong. Edit* vowels are interchangeable, aren't they?
  9. I will read from the beginning. I dont start skimming or skipping until the 4th or 5th re read typically. Ive lost count of my Epic Fantasy re-reads, Sanderson will definitely earn a spot on the uncountable re-reads shelf With Jordan, Eddings, Card, Martin, Goodkind and King
  10. Ill take all of the backstory Mr Sanderson will give us. And side story... and tangent andooooohhhh SQUIRREL!!!!
  11. I think that RAFO was coined during Mr Jordan's WoT writing marathon. I do not believe you will be chastised for using it. (I have been wrong in the past, however) That being said, Bridge Four info is one of the things i am looking forward to most. I want to know what led the rest of them to the bridge crews and see how they rise from the lowest layer of crem. THAT is what i am most looking forward to.
  12. As soon as i read the title, I thought Moash.. good call.
  13. Just wanted to find out what voices other people hear when reading. I reread the "Axies" interlude just now and I realized I was hearing Michael Caines voice.. Or is this just me? Edit: removed a few extra "justs"
  14. Rysn, maybe? She is certainly getting miles under her feet. Also, with the exception of Szeth, she is the only interlude character so far to have 2 chapters. (Please correct me if I am mistaken)
  15. Isomere, if i wasn't on mobile, i'd give you an up-vote.
  16. 1: Hoid. Both in his role as Wit and as the Worldhopper; dropping bits of knowledge and poignant lessons. 2: Dalinar recognizing his Surgebinding abilities. 3: Jasnah and Shallan's relationship. Whether simply student teacher or whatever it may or may not turn in to. (I put them together, because IMHO that would be the most interesting way for their characters to develop.) 4: Bridge 4. I want to see what these men develop in to.. Kaladin seems JFK esqe with his charisma. I want to see how it affects these guys when they are no longer looking at the bottom of the trough through 6 feet of crem. 5: Elhokar: I really like this guy. No particular reason, i guess. But i want to see him grow up a bit. He whines a bit much right now. My pennies Edit, punctuation. It could save someones life.
  17. Sometimes you just want to feel Pretty?
  18. Nice work. A joy to read. One small question.. Shouldnt this have sparked something in Dalinars slowly developing surgebinding abilities?
  19. I have posted in another thread that i think "Lighteyes" has been taken in the wromg context.. i dont think it has anything to do with the COLOUR of a persons eyes.. On Roshar, it has come to reference the colour, but i think the histories have made this the case. My contention: After seeing a few of Dalinars visions and having seen Kaladin whilst Surgebinding, is that "Lighteyes" was originally much more literal. As in eyes are ILLUMINATED. Whether brown, green, hazel, blue or any of the eye colours present on roshar.. As a result of holding Stormlight. In that context Colour is irrelevant. Does anyone support me in this?
  20. More and more, after reading the bits about Darkness, i find myelf feeling like the KR WERE somehow the voidbringers.. Since Darknes is hunting down surgebinders in an attempt to forestall the next Desolation and such. It wasnt intentional, i dont believe, but the act of surgebinding brought the Desolations... OR was perceived to have since the Desolations stopped after the recreance and suregbinders stopped surgebinding. Additionally: "That creature carries my lords own blade" Creature could be either Elhokar or Szeth, i think. But i read "my lords own blade" as "your blade my lord"... My pennies.
  21. Dig it. Muchly.
  22. Just a thought. Shardblades can't be inherently bad. Mr Sanderson DID say in the dedcation that if he could give them all a Shardblade, he would. Something is just wrong or broken in them.. I cant see Mr. Sanderson wishing evil or corrupted things upon the people who helped to make this book happen.
  23. Your explanations do make more sense. Thank you.
  24. I think the LACK of spren in a few of Dalinars visions is a clue.. Especially with the extreme abundance of them we see now.. Could it be that a large number of the Spren we see now were unbound from the Blades and Plate that are unaccounted for? Plate that was damaged and never regrown and Blades that were either broken or damaged and deteriorated?
  25. HAHA! Was 1030 pm my time.. Mountain time zone in the US. And ive been keeping an eye out for the audiobooks. I spend a lot of time driving for work, audio is the best medium for me to enjoy literature.
