Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hey guys, I am extremely, highly sick, so I won't be much help to you right now. What I can say is that Alv is clean as well. Also, well done Warrior! I'm glad that we were right (again) about who they'd target! I truly did enjoy my time in Elantris! I can't wait for the game to be over so the rest of you can see all the cool stuff that Hero and Tulir did there! A lot of people have dropped off of my suspect list. Hael is either very good at being bad or he's likely good (likely one of my next scans), Jain responded to me poking him about possibly being the Gyorn in basically the same way that Winter responded to me poking her early in the game. It's not proof, but it does make me wonder. Araris, Dow, and Luckat have all slipped between the lines, IMO. Clanky is a possibility, but I don't feel as strongly about him as others seem to. That's all I got for now and maybe for most of the day! Sorry I can't be of too much help, but I did tell you guys not to only rely on me and my scans! Best of luck and I'll try to be on again.- 1221 replies

I'm going to finally put this beast of a game to rest. Newan said that he still wanted to come in and do a finale for us all, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards for him at the moment. He's more than welcome to do so later though (or Aonar. I'd bet either one would do a great job!). That said, I'd like to congratulate the Spiked on a game well played! I read through the Spiked Doc and you guys did a great job with the resources you had. I would've loved to see you get someone spiked, but we/luck just didn't give you the opportunity. Kandra, with Wonko heading the village's charge, you guys didn't stand a chance of really switching sides (Go Wonko! MVP! MVP!). Another area where I wish you guys had gotten a pewter spike. Jain, the Giant Blue Panda would've been hilarious and I wish I could see that write up! So unless Newan or Aonar writes us up a finale, this is it. It was a great game everyone and thank you all for playing. There was so many things to keep track of this game as just a player. I want to thank our GMs for doing everything they could to keep things on track as well! If you thought it was confusing from a player stand point, think about what they had to go through to try to process everyone's actions! They deserve our praise. Now, as always, if anyone would like to try your hand at running a game, please get a hold of Gamma, Wilson or myself. Not only will we get you added to the list, but I'm sure we'd be more than willing to help out in any way we can as well! You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone over here in our Art of Game Creation thread as well. With all the games that we've run so far, we have plenty of experienced GMs that can help you refine any game you're thinking about! Thanks again to everyone that played and we look forward to seeing you in future games!

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Feel free to take your time guys. This won't be the first time we've had an extended turn and I doubt it will be the last. Thank you for keeping us informed though! You two have been amazing at letting us know what's going on and I, at least, truly appreciate that. I'm also adding to the ranks of well-wishers here, Tulir! I hope your friends are all okay! A roof can be replaced. A life can't, so I'm glad that it sounds like everyone is at least okay!- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I don't have Seon and no one has gotten a hold of me with a Seon yet tonight, but it's still early. I'm still taking requests for scans. I don't want to reveal who I'll scan out of the list that's building up, so the Cultists won't know who else I'm scanning, but I have a pretty good idea on who's next. I'll say this much, I'm not scanning Kas or Twei! Also, I agree with Ren: don't rely on me to find the Cultists alone. So far, I have a 33% record for hitting a Cultist so far this game, so just waiting for me isn't going to get the job done. Also, if the Cultists wind up taking me out, then you'd have to start going through details and deductions again anyways! No reason to let that slip now. This isn't a Follow-the-Cop style of scenario*. The Cultists can still take us out, kind of like what it looked like they tried with Phatt. We still need everyone active and helping out. I am kind of concerned about the people we have that are dropping out of the game. Was Aonar or Wonko in any danger of hitting the 2 cycle limit yet? I hope people aren't just dropping out because of all this. *Follow-the-Cop, for those of you who don't know, is a technique where a good role steps forward and is then protected. Then everything, all the information, the decisions, etc. all flow through that person. It's not really any fun for anyone and I, for one, didn't out myself just to see the game devolve into that.- 1221 replies

Two things: First, welcome to our pinch hitters! I'm sure you're all catching up and trying to come to your own conclusions to everything that has already happened, so a little slack is in order. That said, you're replacing inactive players. Please don't be inactive yourselves! Second, this day is already wrapped up, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the day has to be a waste! I highly recommend that everyone look over what's happened in the game so far (especially stuff like Winter's analysis of everyone from last night) and see what conclusions we can come to now that we know one of the Cultists. After that, I'm taking suggestions on who I should scan tonight. I may go with the popular consensus or I may go with my own choice, but I will take everyone else's suspicions into account when making my decision, so feel free to give me some ideas on who would be a good target*! *Winter, you're more than welcome to share as well! I missed that. I'm so used to not having any safe roles that I just automatically assumed that they wouldn't be! And here I was trying to go about it being all clever, Winter! Thanks for ruining it for me! EDIT: Besides, we didn't know if Phatt was fake claiming or not. Now, I feel a lot more confident that he's legit.- 1221 replies

That is a good point. I likely wasn't going to scan Wilson anyways though. Winter has agreed with Wilson far too many times (and put her down as someone that she trusts in her analysis of all the players last night) for the two of them to likely be working together. I highly doubt Wilson would take the risk of both of them getting found out if one of them did. This is also likely why I didn't see a lot of people standing up for Winter when I accused her in past cycles. The Cultists know what they're doing. I was more curious as to how Wilson would react to the idea, so I could more likely judge whether I was mistaken in my assumption that they wouldn't work so closely together. Besides, unless Winter is truly trolling us something fierce (I wouldn't put it past her to be this clever), she and the rest of the Cultists have verified Phatt for us: Of course, it could be a trick, but I think they are truly trying to reach out to the Gyorn there; especially since it's an ongoing "offer" by the Cultists.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You were one of the few people on Day 1 that seemed to be doing a lot of talking, but you also never committed to anything. Plus, you seemed to be favoring the search for the Gyorn, which is a simple area for the Cultists to be able to speak about honestly and thus be less suspicious. As such, I suspected that I might find one there. I planned to scan either you or Kas after that first day (Kas was a bit more aggressive than I remembered him being in the past). In the end, since Kas hadn't been playing recently, I figured that if he was a Cultist, I wouldn't want to take him out so early in the game, so I scanned you. Then you wound up being a Cultist! I felt really bad about you dying so early during your first attempt at being evil last game, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I could hopefully get you guys to waste a kill attempt on me, get a few more names of people to start building suspicions from, and also give you a chance to play for longer. So sorry that I wound up getting you killed, but to be fair, you are trying to kill the rest of us as well!- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I've been hinting to the reason I've been so steadfast on Winter all game. Domi has tasked me with finding and killing all the Cultists. I've known that Winter is a Cultist since Night 1. I've been holding off from straight up revealing myself and my reasoning specifically for things like today. I've been waiting to see if Winter and her friends would be so kind as to come out reveal themselves. Well, now we have Winter's analysis of everyone from last night and also the speed in which this vote built itself up to go off of. If I had just revealed myself right away and gotten Winter lynched on Day 2, we wouldn't have nearly as much to go off on. Sure, we would've killed a Cultists, but we'd be back to square one when it comes to finding the rest of them. Also, for your information, my other two scans were Kas and Twei. Both are clean, though I won't reveal their roles. So, as you can see, Wilson, I had reason to be skeptical of someone else proclaiming to be a Priest. Thus why I doubted (and still doubt. You're definitely going to need to be scanned, IMO. If it turns out that you're clear, then we'll have two Priests we can trust) Phatt's first claims. I am so confident in this that I'll tie my life to Winter's. If she dies and isn't a Cultist, then I will give up my Pendent and let you guys lynch me without complaint the next day. Now, I'm sure that this didn't answer all the questions by guys might have, so fire away.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
MenE started the day off anxious. He had heard whispers during his cleaning in the night that Kiireon (Awkward walk; as if gravity itself was different. Gestures are a second late. Someone not likely from this culture. As if she'd grown up outside the confines of Sel, MenE couldn't see how that was possible) and Tehen (The quick hands of a thief. Likely hands that had held a syre as well. Likely from the Eastern providences) were starting to suspect him! If only he could figure out a way to explain himself clearly! He knew that he'd be able to assuage their suspicions. Instead he was left muttering the name, "Kae" in his sleep. Until one night he awoke with it being a shout. No, not the city, as the rest of his bunk mates thought. Though the city was in great danger, his mind was elsewhere. His mind raced, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. There were so many parts and twists and cogs, but one thing his mind kept turning to was Kae. His face kept looming in his thoughts. If. Only. He. Could. Expl- No, it was lost again. He couldn't make the words come out of his mouth. He fell to the floor, beside his bed, spasming and shaking. He needed to get up and clean, but his body betrayed him.- 1221 replies

Get a room, you two. You do realize that it is now a Night turn, right? If everything that has been said is correct, you're basically offering yourselves up to allow the Cultists a double kill. You realize this, yes? Now, if we have two Warriors, they'd have to be stuck on you two or play the game of, "I know, you know" with them on which (if any) of you are defended or not....- 1221 replies

Just being a Convert isn't enough for me to vote for Zas. We want the converts to be able to come forward, so killing them just because sounds like a horrible idea! No, this sounds more like a trick (by Wonko or Phatt, I don't know) to try to get someone other than Maill lynched, so that's where my vote is going!- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
(No RP right now.) A couple reasons. First, I was hoping to see if anyone might try to defend Winter while she was gone; aka, a likely teammate. Because, if I'm right there, I suspected that the Cultists would want to speak up to defend one of their own. The fact that they're not means I'm either completely off or that they've got some experienced players on their team! The other reason is because I planned on coming back and going through my reasoning a bit later, which I'll do so (in brief, because I don't have as much time as I suspected I'd have this weekend) now. My biggest concern with Mek is two-fold. One, as I've said before, I don't like how much everyone keeps trying to hammer the idea that the first day bandwagon was such a bad thing. That just hasn't made sense to me from the get go. Sure, there are times when a late switch in the votes is suspicious and all, but that wasn't one of them. As such, I have to ask myself, what is the motivation behind trying to vilify that bandwagon and the reasons that I keep coming back to is that it's an easy place for the Cultists to go after (late switches are typically looked at suspiciously after all) and that by focusing on the people who formed the bandwagon, they keep people from looking too closely at Mek's new alignment. As I've said before, some of the people (Jain, for example) going after the bandwagoners seemed to take Mek's new alignment as if he was confirmed a villager a little too quickly for me to not be suspicious of it. The second reason I suspect Mek is because Orlok died the very next night. Mek was the main person to suspect that Orlok was part of a lover pairing and then, the next night, after Mek gets a new role and alignment, Orlok dies? I surely didn't put too much into the idea that Orlok was part of a lover pairing and I didn't see anyone else agreeing with him on that point. So the Cultists did and no one else? Granted, Mek was the one to point out that the Cultists likely figured similarly to him, but that very well could have been him getting out in front of it, IMO, before we puzzled it out ourselves. Jain and Bort are on here due to previously stated reasons, so I'd rather not have to rehash them again. I will though, if anyone wants me to. And Claincy is more of a gut feeling at this point and somewhat tied to my suspicions of Winter. He's also riding that line between being helpful and yet noncommittal.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Today, MenE's duty was windows. He'd always loved cleaning the windows. He liked how the rooms brightened up, even just slightly, after he was done. It was like he was shining a light into the darkness. Kaian (likely southern born, judging from the general loose-ness of his gait, but it was hidden underneath a nervous twitch. This was someone who had seen pain) walked past, likely trying to find some food for that rodent of his. He treated that ferret with more love and attention than most people treated their spouses! That got MenE thinking about some of the things Kaian had said recently; mostly about those that were even still hiding in the shadows. While MenE, himself, was quite suspicious of Duke Pifferdan and Redodaa hadn't spoken up yet, it seemed a little preemptive to be trying to drive the room to them. They (likely responded to the PM that the GM's sent at the beginning of the game and that's it.) likely wouldn't even get anything out of them. If they hadn't spoken up by now, it was unlikely they'd speak up at all. Now if they were still silent by tomorrow, then that would be indicative of their silence being part of a larger conspiracy. After all, didn't Duke Pifferdan speak up on the first day? Wasn't that what had attracted MenE's attention in the first place? Wouldn't that mean that Duke Pifferdan had been active during the timeframe? Arfear (woodsman by trade. The scraping around his knuckles were likely caused by tree bark) had brought up a good point though. What if one of those two had been hiding in the shadows and whispering quietly with someone else? If that was the case, then they were intentionally trying to remaining in the shadows. If someone could prove that, then MenE would definitely be shining a light into those hiding shadows! Perhaps those with Seons would be able to tell them more? For himself, the more he replayed the events of the last few days in his head, the more suspicious he became of Kae. He kept talking without really providing much actual content. Plus, he seemed far more occupied with the Gyorn than finding the Cultists. To MenE, that seemed like a distraction tactic to him. Unfortunately, Kae didn't seem to be around for him to try to get his thoughts out to the rest of the group. His suspicions there would have to wait. The rest of his list consisted of Clancy, Mainem, Borter, and Jain. He'd have to go into detail about why he was suspicious of each of them in the future. After he finished cleaning a few more windows perhaps. Where the heck is everyone? Did the servers being down really throw everything off that badly? And we have a shortened day? Come on people, we need to kick this discussion into high gear!- 1221 replies

Wilson, you are quite right. I could easily see that happening too. I don't ever let my suspicions/confirmations settle, so they are never set in stone, but that was a huge assumption on my part. Not to pile onto you, Bort, but you basically just repeated yourself using different words. You're looking at the result of the turn, rather than looking at the motivation. I still maintain that the Cultists had no reason/motivation to try to switch Day 1's vote (though that's clever. If I'm ever evil, I'll have to remember this one), so using that to implicate someone else just doesn't work for me. If you want to be suspicious of Dow for Day 2, by all means, but I find that reasoning a lot weaker when you don't have Day 1's lynch as well. As far as inactives/lurkers, just literally everything Wilson said on the matter. You're suffering from Representative bias when you're not even a representative of them! Wonko, you should definitely be using your Seon. If you don't know what to do with it, just get a hold of someone. Even if you don't find a Priest, people might share more in private what they're unwilling to put in thread and that will help give you a clearer picture of what's happening in the game.- 1221 replies

While I don't disagree with a lot of what you said, I (and remember, I didn't even take place in these late changes) have to argue against this. It's why I also tend to argue in favor of first day lynches most games! Killing innocents is bound to happen. Accept that fact and remember that it's just a game and you'll be a lot happier. We are going to kill some innocent players. That's a fact. There are far more of us than there are of the Cultists. To blame anyone and everyone who ever caused the death of an innocent player just for that action is ludicrous. This game requires you to go a level deeper than that and try to discover the reasoning behind the individual lynches. Then take into consideration that this is just the second day! How many Cultists have you picked out within that time frame, eh? Yet you expect that the rest of us are to do much better? On top of that, I thought Mek pretty much cleared the first day lynch. The Cultists already had two confirmed Villagers on the table well before the bandwagon on Fel came through. What would be the point of putting themselves out there to get another random and (this is important) basically inactive player out of the way? Personally, I think that the first day lynch actually threw the Cultists off of their game, which is why I suspect those that came out strongly against it. Now, this isn't a defense of Dow. He very well could still be a Cultist. I do happen to agree with him on his stance on lurkers though. Those that aren't speaking up aren't helping us find the Cultists and I, personally, don't have any qualms about killing someone that isn't trying to help out (not that I have many qualms about killing anyone; it's still just a game after all, but even less so in this instance). So, if someone wants to try to encourage those that aren't speaking up to do so, I'm not going to fault them for that and the amount of people who view "trying to get lurkers to stop lurkering" as a bad thing is something that I find incredibly suspicious. As I said, I'm not defending Dow. I just find the reasoning behind the suspicion on him to be shoddy. Shaky suspicions are the bread and butter of the Cultists as they'll use whatever reasoning they can get to accuse someone. That said, the fact that you came forward as someone that was 'Duked' means that I don't think that you're a Cultist. Most of this isn't directed at you specifically anyways, just a general vibe I've gotten off of everyone so far.- 1221 replies

Does everyone have a Seon except me? Why didn't I get any cool items? I'm already voting for whom I think is the most suspicious so far. If it's any consolation, I don't think either of you up for the vote are Cultists so far.- 1221 replies

(No RP. Getting lazy! ) Nope. No pressure, feel free to leave your vote there. I'm just pointing out that it's very suspicious to point out that your reasoning for doing something might not have been the best, but then you continue to do it anyways. And now you're redirecting again when called out for it. When did you start getting so aggressive about these things, Jain? This isn't how you've played before, which makes me wonder whether or not there's a reason for your aggressiveness this time- like perhaps because you're a Cultist. It's one thing to follow a bad string of logic, admit that there were factors that you hadn't accounted for, and then try to make amends. It's entirely another to continue to follow that same logic through and then also attack anyone who points it out. It just doesn't seem like a very Villager thing to do to me.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Metacognition replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
MenE didn't like it much at all, but he couldn't figure out how to put it into words so that everyone else would be able to understand him. Jain was redirecting. He wasn't removing his vote (even after admitting to it being less than ideal) or anything like that. He hadn't given a rebuttal to the arguments against him; just that he wasn't going to contribute anymore. His actions and his words didn't match up, which was very suspicious to MenE. It was almost as if Jain just wanted someone to die and wasn't going to give up the chance to get either Dow or Won dead. But whenever MenE tried to open his mouth to explain all of this, he couldn't get his words in the right order. So he kept sweeping and whispering to himself, "Suspicous. Supicous..."- 1221 replies
