  1. I can't seem to get PM folders working properly. I can shift PMs into folders properly, but when I try and open a folder, it doesn't load the PMs properly. It changes what's viewed, but it seems more like it's just giving me the last PMs I received rather than what's in the folder, even though "Inbox" changes to whatever the folder name is. Does anyone else have this problem?

  2. Night 1

    3 PM:
The fighting had died down a bit during the heat of the day, other than the occasional gunshot that rang out as gunmen from both sides took potshots at any on the other side foolish enough to make themselves visible. The inaction from the Constabulary made the barricade nervous. Many had volunteered to fight at this barricade, but could everyone be trusted? The idea of traitors in their midst spread like wildfire through the barricade, sparking furious, but whispered, arguments about if the enemy had infiltrated their line and was going to kill them when their backs were turned.

    5:15 PM:
The fighting broke out again when the constabulary tried to bring gunmen at the barricade from another angle. Albin, Name, Garshin, and Bartolomeus, found themselves fighting near the top of the barricade, where it was less defended. The rest of the fighters had decided that they weren’t trustworthy enough, and didn’t want them shoot from behind.

    5:23 PM:
The dust settled as the fighting once again paused. What bodies could be recovered safely were. Albin Brodeur, a dock worker, was among the dead.

Jondesu was lynched. They were a Friend of the ABC and a Rioter.

Just pointing out that with Elbereth also playing, "El" is a little ambiguous.

I couldn't find it, and it's pretty important to know, given the number of neutral roles. @Haelbarde, do the eliminators need to outnumber all villagers, or kill them all?@Jondesu

I meant to clarify that, as I only noticed I hadn't spelt that out till this morning. For the moment I've decided to go with outnumber or equal the village. It's something I need to review when I'm not so tired though.

Important note: votes must be retracted in a new post. Don't go back and edit your retraction in your original post. Retract your vote in the same post you put a new one down, otherwise it won't count.

I forget if I made it clear in the rules but if you are voting and retracting repeatedly in the same post, as you talk through an analysis or something, that's fine. And you can retract without having to put down a new vote.

The main thing is I like to be able to easily track the way votes are made(, used and wasted), shifted,  etc,  and I personally find it hard to do that when previous posts get edited.

  6. Still working at the PMs, but while I think about it - When PMing, please remember to add Doc and I to all PMs.

EDIT: Oh, and while group PMs are allowed, you may not add more players to the PM after it has been created. If you need to add more players, create a new group PM.

EDIT 2: Role PMs are still rolling out, but another thing while I think about it. Copy-pasting information from PMs into other PMs, or into thread is forbidden.

  7. 12 PM:
The shouts began, as the plan was set in motion. Up went the barricade, built from borrowed wooden carts, leftover construction materials, and a motorcar that had been acquired somehow. This was to be one of many around the city, each setup in carefully chosen districts so as to be visible and defensible. Up went the cries calling for the people to join in a fight for their freedom, and join they did. The numbers at the barricade rose as ranks began to form.

    1 PM:
The constabulary,  along with a fresh draft of volunteers, and some other hired Lawmen from the Roughs, who happened to be in town at the time, had arrived in force, preparing to siege the barricade.

    1:30 PM:
An initial firefight was fought, and men had died. Now there was silence for a time.
“You at the barricade listen to this!” The voice from the Constabulary line rang out over the gap in a lull in the fighting. “No one is coming to help you to fight!”

Emboldened by no response from the barricade, the voice continued.

“You’re on your own, you have no friends! Give up your guns, or die!”

As the proclamation died down, there was still no response from the barricade, just silence.

Then one of the ringleader yelled out a response. “Rust their warnings, rust their lies! They will see the people rise!”

    Guns began firing.

Took awhile, but here we go. I'll be sending out PMs as soon as I can.

    A few things to note:
Here's the final version of the Thief:

Thief - You never know your luck when there's a free-for-all. Here a little tip, there a little touch. Most of them are goners, so they won't miss much! You've not come to the barricade for glory. It's a world where the dogs eat the dogs, you're out to get a profit, and it's easy to steal from a corpse.

    • You win if you survive and stole at least 4 unique metals over the course of the game.
    • Each night cycle, you may target a player and attempt to steal something from them. If they have an allomantic metal, you will steal one charge from them. You can only steal from a player once.

    So that's how that'll work.

PMs in this game are not open. Excluding this cycle, you may only PM at night, and only if I have notified everyone in thread that a tineye is burning a charge of tin. Whenever a new cycle starts, please check the thread first before responding to PMs. As an exception to the rules as written, just to start you all off, I'm letting people PM this day cycle only.

Cycle ends in 48 hours. Now I have a little more time, I'll try see if there's a better time for rollover. Suggestions are welcome.

@Haelbarde, as a heads up for any balancing you do today, @Elbereth is planning on signing up, but won't be able to do so until she wakes (although that will definitely be before the deadline).

    Noted.

Priest role: Ensure that the escaped convict is not lynched. Knows the identity of both the escaped convict and the parole officer. One time in the game, the priest may move the parole officer's vote onto themselves.

    :P

But there's already so many thematic roles D: And none for the evils...

Won't stop me from adding just one more though, at Wilson's suggestion. Have to run now, but the short of it is we'll be adding the Thief - neutral - can steal metals, or recover them from dead bodies. Wins at the end of the game if they get a full set of metals. Doesn't know who their child is.

Couple of questions about the Pauper Baron and his two potential lovers. I assume a love triangle is possible. Is this correct?

If not, what happens with the Convict's Ward's win con if she finds the Pauper Baron but he's already lovers with the Thief's Daughter?

If so, what happens to the Pauper Baron's alignment? Does it change/stay the same based on the order of his lovers finding him? (Convict's Ward finds him first, so he changes to neutral, but then the Thief's Daughter finds him so he goes back to village) Or does his alignment only matter with who finds him first?

(I've gone through and changed Baron to noble to be more gender neutral, in line with the rest of the roles.)

Hmm. Good question. I'll need to think through the balance of the interactions I think, but I think that the Ward's effect gets priority. So yes, a love triangle can form. Two ways to play it - RAW, Pauper dies if either dies,  or they die when the second dies. If the later, I'd further rule that the Pauper reverts to village,  I think.

I sorta like the second option, though the it feels unbalanced… I'll need to think. Also, if anyone does have balance concerns about the thematic roles, I'm happy to hear them.

  10. Okay, so player list has been further updated.

Could probably do with a player name from @Shqueeves at some point, unless I missed it.

About time I sorted out when the game starts. My weekend is incredibly busy, so it's going to be a bit of a messy start. I'm going to close signup at the following time:

    blu_1498287600.png

And I will endeavor to get the game up within an hour after that.

And finally, changes to the rules:
We have one last thematic role:

Thief's Child - At night, as you live inside your head, you walk with them till morning, happy with the company you're keeping. But they've never seen you there. As they go to fight at the barricade, you follow along, hoping to win their affection, or die trying.

    • You win if you survive or if the Pauper Noble survives
    • You are a Lurcher. Each night, you may spend a charge of Iron to block an attack on your target.
    • If you save the Pauper Noble from an attack, you become Lovers with them you die if they die, and get a permanent PM with them).

This role results in a slight change to the Pauper Noble. If they become Lovers with the Thief's Child, they retain their village allignment and ability, unlike with the Convict's Ward.

One last change is that I noticed I forgot to give the Escaped Convict a win condition. Their win condition is now to Survive, or have their Ward survive.
