Everyone was afraid. Most of the people coordinating them had been killed one by one. The remaining survivors weren't sure how to handle the responsibility. However, Satrams knew what to do. "Damon, I'm tired of you not posting to the thread. You clearly have been active, since you would have been lynched by this point if you weren't. I cannot stand by and watch us be slain. It is time to unite! We need all the help we can get. So I'm asking you, who's with me?"

"That was disgusting. The good news is, we managed to kill that monster. That said, we lost M, who was helping to spur discussion. So, where do we go from here? I for one, want to hear from Damon. I've been in contact with him for the past 3 cycles. He's insinuated that he has a role, and was trying to avoid conversion. Well, Hoid won't be able to convert anymore. Not after that." We need a lot more discussion. A no lynch greatly benefits Hoid, since he can continue killing us off, one by one. Even worse, he can sway the vote any way he want's to right now, which is not good in the slightest.

"So let me get this straight. The Letter Bearer revealed his role to Alvron. However, we have no idea why he would do such a thing, especially since Alvron might be evil. I don't think that's a good reason for a lynch. However..." Satrams paused as he watched the kandra try to make his case to the crowd. "that thing is protesting way too much. Newan, it's time to see what's behind that skin of yours." This reminds me a lot of LG7. Twei was subject to a colossal amount of bad luck, which caused her to be revealed as a Skaa (the bad guys in that game). Though the scenario didn't make a lot of sense at the time, it was eventually revealed to be the truth. Furthermore, Twei protested vigorously, which appears to be happening here. Me thinks he doth protest too much.

Satrams sat around the inn savoring his drink. "Ashiok had addressed the group, so he didn't deserve a vote. The general consensus was to let Hoid make the first move. Unfortunately, that would probably cost some of them their lives. Satrams ordered another drink. There was nothing he could do, except wait until tomorrow. He hoped he would still be alive by then.

Hmm... It looks like discussion has crawled to a stand-still. We still don't have much to go on, although we know that 2 of us are evil now. At this point in time, it seems like the mailman is going to be the most important player right now. He's probably going through PMs right now looking for contradictions. Hopefully we'll get a better read on the eliminators after they make their first kill. I think I'll just do a check on the thread vote. Ashiok, do you have any insight on our current situation?

Quick question about PMs. Do both the sender and the recipient have to approve open communication? For instance, Player A decides to send a PM to Player B. Does Player B have to send a PM to Player A for the conversation to work? This assumes that the Letter Bearer agrees to all of this.

Satrams remained silent. He was indirectly responsible for those deaths, and yet they still didn't manage to kill Hoid. He had begun to suspect that one of his previous employers was actually Hoid the whole time. He suspected Heron the most; after all, he had seen the man die. However, he agreed with the group's consensus. A lynch today would be very counter-productive. They were much more likely to lynch another innocent instead of their target. He chose to remain silent. After all, there was no telling how Hoid could influence the vote. While I agree that a lynch isn't a good thing, I'm worried about Hoid changing the vote. He might decide to seek someone in order to get better converts, but he could also choose to kill a player, even if they only have one vote on them. That could be dangerous, especially if an experienced player is on the chopping block. I'm not sure what we can do about this, but it's something to take into consideration.

Sarams stared at Heron. The mercenary was pretty sure Heron had died during the Riots, though he didn't want to say anything. He assumed it would be impolite. He decided not to trust his previous employer. You couldn't trust a man who wouldn't die. This is going to be like the greatest hits version of Sanderson Elimination, isn't it? Anyways, Sarams, the mercenary with a sling is back to finally kill Hoid.

First off, I just want to say, running this game was a blast! I had so much fun watching you guys form suspicions and submitting actions. Here's some of my random thoughts about this game: I was surprised by how well the Eliminators did this game. I knew putting 4 Eliminators in was going to be challenging for the camp, but I thought that since everyone had a role, it would be mostly balanced. Originally, this game was going to have 2 Artists, 2 Non-Rithmatists, and 1 Sentry, with a total of 20 players. If we had gotten one more player, he would have been a non-Rithmatist, just to add to the chaos of the game. We've started to not do as much RP on this sub-forum. I would be really interested in a game with no blue text, if only to see the writing skills of you guys. Although I must say, it looks like LG8 will have a lot of RP which is always a good sign. I've also noticed a bad tendency of our group to lynch those who are inexperienced, which can really hurt our community. We need to keep new players playing, and stop lynching them on the first day. Also, the Forgotten targeted experienced players with their kills. I know that is normally a good strategy, but it's somewhat unfair to experienced players, especially Meta. To combat this, I've thought about running a game in which we are all anonymous. However, that goes against site policy, since we are not allowed to make burner accounts. Still, we could try running a game in a Google doc or something... Here's the links to all of the Google docs associated with this game: Spectator Doc (Very Quiet): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xRWXmG2TQIOZ4WhVE5T02Lq4XhOePtSe-o83nd_orN8/edit?usp=sharing Dead Doc (Great Discussion): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Jf8MSuxwh0mQ4zoR0yL1djkHLtgEEHkNfpi31YPZcTg/edit?usp=sharing Eliminator Doc (Lots of Discussion): https://docs.google.com/document/d/10UJzLsG229KeudeR8SRhHz95qd9BmZR_haGFuLaH8yA/edit?usp=sharing Master Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1voTyiBs2zJ212KZ299wyJX3gqL6u1DgHAZK9_7APwsA/edit?usp=sharing I'll try to answer any question you guys had about my game. Epilogue: In which the GM miscounts the number of Villagers, and feels really bad about it. Samuel Kessen was shocked when Wyatt accused him of being a Forgotten. He was going to defend this camp to his dying breath. Just as he was about to kill the man for daring to vote for him, he stopped. "Why would he want to kill his leader?" His thoughts faded away, as he was possessed by the Forgotten inside of him. Wyatt smiled as his eyes turned black as well, while Jain and Roland looked on in horror. Jain managed to squeak out, "We can take them, right Tory?" Unfortunately for the two remaining soldiers, Tory Farth's eyes had also turned black. "Well, this looks like the end." said Roland, as he drew a circle around himself. Wyatt tsked, "Honestly, humans are so bloodthirsty. It barely took any provocation to get you to kill yourselves." Jain stammered, "What are you going to do to us?" while he drew a shaky Easton defense. Wyatt smiled again, "Don't worry. You won't remember a thing." As the wild chalklings swarmed their circles, the two Rithmatists said a silent prayer to the Master. He didn't answer it. A few days later, the platoon was rescued, and each of its 5 remaining members received Medals of Honor. The military didn't realize the truth though. The survivors might have looked like ordinary men, but they were only hallowed out corpses. In their place, stood 5 Forgotten, who could turn at a moments notice, seeking the destruction of the human race. Wyatt smiled as he received his Medal. Everything was going according to plan. I apologize for the confusion but this ends Mid-Range Game 3. I miscounted the number of Villagers left, and assumed there was one more cycle. Once again, my apologies, but congratulations to the Forgotten for winning the game. I'll talk more about the game in a wrap-up post, but I hope you guys had fun. If you want to join a game, Long Game 9 is still accepting sign-ups. See you guys later.

The debate on who to kill had devolved into a shouting match. Three members of the platoon were calling for Ronald's death. Then Ronald and his friends had declared that Tavi must be guilty. They weren't making any headway, until Joel's voice shouted above the crowd. "Hey, listen up!" he shouted. Jain quickly asked, "Who do you think is the Forgotten?" Joel responded, "Honestly, I think Tavi is, but that's not important right now..." The rest of his words were drowned out by a triumphant cheer, as Tavi was lynched. Sadly, his body didn't start spewing chalklings, so the camp was at a loss of what to do, as they started to argue again. Joel had more important things on his mind right now. Like the chalkling horde that was advancing on the camp. He tried to rally the camp, but everyone was too busy arguing! He had patrolling day in, and day out, and he hadn't seen a horde this big since the failed charge. Even worse, it appeared that he was the only one to fight it. He hastily drew the Matson defense, hoping he would survive the attack. Unfortunately, there was sabotage in the air. Someone shot a Line of Vigor at his rear. Then someone threw a dagger into his back! He collapsed on the ground, and screamed, "Chalklings!" The camp heard him that time. All the soldiers made a mad dash towards the center of camp. They needed a defensive perimeter if they were going to survive. Everyone was fleeing, rushing in a chaotic stampede. Aaron Roddy tripped though, and scrambled to get up. He drew chalklings which began to defend him, even though he didn't give them any orders. He started running to the circle the other soldiers had set up, it was only a little farther. But then, something hit him. It was some sort of new line. It pushed him backwards and he fell into the chalkling army, screaming. When the dust settled, the camp was surrounded, and they had lost three good men. The survivors buckled down, determined to fix their mistakes. Tavi was a Rithmatist! Joel was the Sentry! Aaron Roddy was an Artist! Vote Count: Tavi: Joel, Jain, Wyatt, Kessen (4) Ronald: Tavi, Tory Farth, Aaron Roddy (3) Player List: This cycle will end at 9:00 AM Central Time on Friday.

Alright, there appears to be some confusion about the Wild Chalkling kill. Let me clear that up. If a wild chalkling attack happens, I will use a random number generator to determine the target of the attack. The Forgotten do not get to choose who is targeted for it. If the number that comes up is a Forgotten or the Sentry, the kill does not go through, and the camp will mysteriously survive the attack. However, if a normal player/Rithmatist is targeted, they will be killed, even if they put up a Line of Forbiddance. The Line of Forbiddance blocks all other kills, such as Forgotten kills, Lines of Revocation, and the lynch vote. I hope that clears up any confusion about a Chalkling attack. Also, please note that all roles have access to Rithmatic lines, except for the non-Rithmatist. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in the thread.

Rlint wasn't worried. Although he wasn't a Rithmatist, he was a highly trained police-man. He knew how to handle his own in a fight, and he wasn't afraid to go down swinging. He had been assigned to this platoon to keep the Rithmatists' egos in check. He would effectively coordinate them, making sure that they were safe. He had failed at that mission. Still, he wasn't completely useless. He had learned of advanced Rithmatic lines. They didn't make any sense to him, but he knew about them, and he had finally gotten around to teaching someone else about them. He smiled, and decided to take a nap. Unfortunately, the camp was getting angry at him. Wyatt and Ronald burst into his tent. Demanding him to answer for his crimes, bleary eyed, Rlint tried to fight them off, but one of them grabbed Rlint's gun and shot him, once, twice, three times. They were disgusted with themselves afterwards, and hauled the body to Dig. Meanwhile, Dig had been busy. The number of dead bodies kept piling up. Digging graves wasn't very fun. He had even more work to do now, since Rlint had been shot. What was wrong with them? Dig had decided that finding out who was evil generally led to more evil. Digging trenches, on the other hand, wasn't evil, and so he must be good. He smiled at his simplistic thought, and started on the next grave. He didn't realize it was going to be a double grave though. The Forgotten took one of Dig's shovels and whacked him into the grave. A light covering of dirt concealed the body, as the evil man walked away. He smiled. The camp was doomed, and they couldn't do anything to stop it. Rlint was a Non-Rithmatist. Dig was a Rithmatist. Aaron Roddy: Joel (1) Rlint: Alvron, Wyatt (2) Jain: Tavi (1) Player List: This cycle will end at 9:00 AM Central Time on Wednesday.

Tempers were heated as the platoon bickered through the night. People began to suspect Joel of being the murderer. Wyatt shouted, "I remember getting up in the middle of the night, and seeing you wander around camp. That's suspicious enough to kill you in my book!" Joel responded, "You idiots! I was patrolling the camp, making sure the wild chalklings didn't attack. Would a Forgotten do that?" Joel's accusers reassessed the situation. If Joel wasn't the killer, then who was? Eventually, they decided that it must have been Chase! After all, she was the only one who had experience murdering people. She stared defiantly at them, as the votes came rolling in. She knew she couldn't outrun them, and though she wanted to, she doubted she could fight them off. She sighed, and accepted her fate. The lynchers found the only gun in camp, and shot her, point blank. The platoon tried to get some rest, even though the sun had rose in the sky. One man, however, was still feeling paranoid. Aaron Falaise, as he was known, was scared out of his mind. They would find out what happened eventually, and then he would be doomed! He heard something outside his tent rustle. He got up an drew a shaky Line of Forbiddance. His killer didn't care that much about it. After all, he had thrown that rock to distract the paranoid freak. He took his butcher's knife, and plunged it into Aaron's heart. "Aaron" expired, never knowing who had killed him. Chase Tearing was a Rithmatist! Aaron Falaise was a Rithmatist! Vote Count: Aaron Roddy: Joel (1) Chase Tearing: Tavi, Aaron Falaise, Jain, Wyatt (4) Joel: Dig (1) Dig: Chase Tearing (1) Player List: This cycle ends at 9:00 AM Central Time on Monday.

Everyone seemed to be suspicious. "That woman might be a murderer. That man with a stuffed panda is giving everyone strange looks," they argued. Still, the camp couldn't reach a consensus. They decided to sleep on who to kill, hoping the morning would give them a better idea. Will couldn't sleep though. He was tossing and turning, anxious about the following day. Eventually, he decided to patrol the camp, to see if any wild chalklings were coming. He looked out and didn't see anything. It was rather boring. As he was turning back to his tent, he noticed something odd. The barrel of acid was missing. Without that, the platoon would have to rely solely on Rithmatics to repel the chalklings. Unfortunately, he didn't realize the thieves were right behind him. There wasn't much time to think. One of them picked up a rock, and swung it at Will's head. Will screamed as he fell to the ground, alerting the whole camp to his predicament. It was too late though; he bled to death before the camp arrived. The thieves had merged in with the crowd, and the bucket was nowhere in site. It was going to be a long night. Will was a Rithmatist! Vote Count: Jain: Joel, Rlint (2) Will: Tavi (1) Rlint: Roland (1) Aaron Falaise: Will (1) Chase: Jain, Wyatt (2) Joel: Kessen (1) Kessen: Dig (1) Wyatt: Chase (1) Player List; This cycle will end at 9:00 AM Central Time on Saturday.

There is a difference between those messages. However, you won't get any message if your target isn't protected, which looks the same as being stunned. I was definitely not clear enough on this. If a chalkling gets blocked by warding or forbiddance, it will turn around, and report back to the maker that the target was protected. However, if the target did some other action, or if the target was stunned and couldn't do an action, the chalkling will march towards the sunset, and never report back. The same thing happens if the Maker was hit by a Line of Vigor. In retrospect, the Lines of Vigor are probably a little bit overpowered...

As tensions rose in the camp, suspicions were thrown about the camp. Many names were voiced, but eventually, they suspected Dui, who was sitting by himself, nervously eating chalk. "Dui" gently asked Ronald, "do you have any suspicions?" Dui started shaking. His mouth tried to make words, but it couldn't speak them. He turned to look at the group, not comprehending what was happening. Suddenly, he screamed, pulled out a knife, and charged at the group. Before anyone could react he stabbed Matt once, then twice. Chalkling started streaming out of his body as he began to charge at Matt's confidant. They wrestled, and Matt's friend took the knife, and plunged it into the JoSeun man's heart. It was too late for him though. He was covered in chalklings, and they were hungry. The camp fought them back, but not before he died. The camp went back to their tents, sick to their stomachs. They had killed another Forgotten, but he was too dumb to be the leader. They went back to their tents, hoping that tomorrow would bring better news. Dui (Elend'sSecondCousion/______) was a Forgotten! Matt (Metacognition) was an Artist! Vote Count: Aaron F: Matt (1) Chase: Tavi (1) Jain: Joel (1) Dui: Ronald, Wyatt, Aaron R, Rlint (4) Kessen: Aaron F (1) Ronald: Will (1) Tavi: Kessen (1) Player List: This cycle will end 48 hours from now. Question answering time: Lines of Vigor are fired at the exact same time, so they can't be interrupted. In your example, Player B would still have his action canceled. The order of actions is Vigor, then Forbiddance, Warding, and Silencing, then Kills (Revocation, Forgotten kills, Chalkling Attack) then finally Lines of Making. The non-Rithmatist's target learns both skills. If a non-Rithmatist hits another non-Rithmatist, they will be informed their action didn't go through, but they won't be told whether they were hit with a Line of Vigor, or if they targeted the wrong person. This game is Role-Madness. I mean, we're an elite squad of Rithmatists. That should give you a clue of how many roles there are this game. And yes, a Rithmatist Tower Defense Game would be amazing Even more clarifications: Will players be told if they have too many or too few lines of Warding? You will not be told that information. You will know if you didn't have enough if a bunch of chalklings attack the camp. If Player A hits Player B with a Line of Vigor, and Player C uses a Line of Making on Player B, what will be the result? Player C will be told that Player B was not using Lines of Forbiddance or Warding, even if that was what he was trying to do. If Player C was an Artist however, they would learn what action their target was trying to do. Is there a distinction between wild chalkling attacks and the Forgotten kill in the write-up? YES! Also, I think I messed up my timezones. The cycle is ending at 9:00 AM Central Time on Tuesday. I double checked with Google, and that is 2 PM Tuesday in GMT. Sorry for the confusion.

Lighting flashed as the storm rolled in. The platoon had arrived just in time, but it didn't seem like they were making a difference. Their lines were being washed away as soon as they could draw them, and the wild chalklings were multiplying by the minute. Tammy rallied her troops with a commanding shout. They pushed deeper into the enemy ranks, trying to force the enemy back to the Tower. Tammy led the charge and they started making headway plunging into enemy lines. Then, she stopped. The other members looked at her, unsure of what to do. Then she started laughing as her eyes turned black. The platoon instantly realized something was wrong, as hordes of wild chalklings began pouring out of her sleeves. Wyatt screamed, "Forgotten!" and charged her. She barely noticed him, as she concentrated on making as many chalklings as possible. He tried slapping her, and she fell down amongst a horde of chalklings. She laughed at him and tried to stand back up. She began speaking in a ghastly moan, "We are among you. We will destroy you!" As she was shouting, Rlint charged her with a bucket of acid. He threw it on her, and watched as she writhed in pain. She died, as a few last chalklings surged out of her body. Rlint and Wyatt were nearly surrounded, but the other soldiers rallied to their aid. When the rain stopped, and the sun reappeared in the sky, the team knew something was horribly wrong. They were behind enemy lines, and no rescue was in site. Their charge, which had seemed like a good idea in the heat of battle, was revealed to have been a foolish move. Even worse, they knew that Forgotten were normally dumb creatures, so someone had to have been controlling Tammy. That someone was mostly likely someone in their platoon. As the sun began to set, the team drew a defensive perimeter, and they began to suspect one another. It wouldn't be long until innocent blood would be spilled, and there was always the threat of another attack. The team hunkered down, and began voicing their suspicions. Mid-Range Game 3 is now active! Please keep non role-play in blue, and vote for who you think is evil in red. If you vote multiple times, I will only count your last vote. You don't have to green out votes that you're retracting, but it keeps things tidy, so I would recommend it. Furthermore, in this game, the day and night cycles are combined, so make sure to send in your special action to me in a PM. If you're confused about any of the rules, please look at the rules in the main thread, and if that doesn't answer your question, feel free to shoot me a PM with your question in it. I think that's about it. Have fun! Player List: This day will end at 8:00 AM GMT on Tuesday.
