See, the Lopen will be rather sad when his arm grows back, as he will be using this arm, the one that was eaten by a great beast and regrown in an instant with a choir of angels and a flash of Stormlight - yes, this one - he will be making rude gestures at people, and they will be unfortunately enraged, as they could not see his rude hand gestures before, being preformed from the belly of a great beast as they were. They must become used to the Lopen, he supposes.

I believe that Brandon put in someone's book that Rayse and Hoid were once friends? That would make the "old friend" line work well.

I think this refers to Marasi's Cadmium burning. It effectively is time travel into the future.

I don't know about Soulcasting - even delicate uses so far have been rather blunt (blood type, for example, comes down to turning the entirety of a liquid into a very similar liquid). Forgery (specifically modified ReSealing) might work better. It seems to be implied that a ReSealing doesn't require a lasting Mark, but the limits are set strangely. Because Forgery affects the perception of an object or person by others, a transgender Soul Forger that already self-identified, acted, and dressed as the gender they were mentally would probably have an easier Forgery then someone who concealed the gender they identified as for social or cultural reasons.

Or a disabled Larkin-owning trade master commanding the merchant fleets of Thalenay? She'll have a fabrial-powered wheelchair and everything. Give her Surgebinding, and she'd eclipse even Kal in badassery.

Can a Shareholder Splinter and drop her power in such a way that she can pick up a large enough splinter of it to assure immortality and some key abilities?

Apart from a spirit of the wind communicating the dying screams of a dead companion in the form of a magical sword to it's owner, who is bonded to it in such a way that he can zombify it from mist and use it to cut people's souls?

Screw You lines do make things more complicated... I wonder if they're only in artistic representations or if the simplified (non bird-flipping) versions use only the Thaylen forms. Maybe we can get a look at some of Amaram's notes in SA3? Another note, wouldn't an informal glyph-based writing system be even easier if you got rid of the symmetry? Blasphemous as a lady shaking safehands with a Voidbringer, but more efficient.

Shalash from STA vs Shashara from Warbreaker
Swimmingly replied to Howl of the Sun's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, I'm pretty sure she or one of the others are Jez's daughter. But with interworld mechanics being what they are, that doesn't rule much out. Also, she could be adopted.- 4 replies

"Eshonai woke up. She felt her limbs trembling like leaves, her mind ensconced in a thick syrup. Each tremor brought enormous pain; the shattered remnants of Shaedplate clung to her in only a few small places. Yet somehow, she was alive. She had survived the storm and the flood." Boom. She's alive, no further explanation needed. Characters surviving improbably to advance their development seems to be a thing in SA - Kal multiple times, Shallan one or two.

Realmatic Theory Question (minor WoR spoiler)
Swimmingly replied to dbmeboy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Also cannot be soulcast? What? When did we hear this? Edit: actually, the book says it can ONLY be made by soulcasting. -
Then every puddle would be a pillar to the sky

I personally wonder whether a sculptor or stonecarver Lightweaver would literally have to carry around stone blocks to chip into his illusions, and if the more laborious creation process would have any disadvantages.

Realmatic Theory Question (minor WoR spoiler)
Swimmingly replied to dbmeboy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think personally that it's a quirk of Allomancy. Larkins seem to fulfil a similar role in SA. -
According to Horneater legend. He doesn't really need to. His healing abilities give him passive combat immortality, I'd guess. In fact, it would be very Hoid to just stand there, continuously healing and making the occasional (or perhaps a constant commentary of) witty comments as someone whales on him with a Shardblade and fists until their Shardplate freezes up, Hoid ties them to a tree, and fetches some of their mortal enemies with a surprise announcement.

It's implied that this is a very rare thing, and the trade agreement is a standing agreement the Reshi trigger when they have the product.

Hypothesis: Oathbreaking, shardshattering Heralds
Swimmingly replied to kraefzke's topic in Stormlight Archive
Of course, that might just mean that Odium influenced the Heralds somehow, making the Heralds the tool and Odium the wielder. -
He implies next Mistborn series. He doesn't rule out SA. Also, he can change his mind and admit to such.

Physical Colour is not the Fuel for Awakening *Mild WoR Spoilers*
Swimmingly replied to Aonar's topic in Warbreaker
Shardblades seem to cut the spirit. In inanimate objects, this is a one-to-one connection with the physical. In living things, this first severs the individual life from a living thing, then cuts the inanimate flesh. However, since we know that life can be brought back when all spiritual connections are severed, the spiritual might simply be an abstraction of the cognitive, which is itself an abstraction of the physical, with information and Investiture moving back and forth between levels. Nightblood seems to corrupt/destroy Investiture. Not sever it cleanly such as a Shardblade does. Nightblood can destroy just about anything, presumably because everything in the Cosmere we've seen was created by a Shard (possibly barring Hoid), and so Nightblood can destroy the presence of a Shard (Investiture) from their history. Shardblades can destroy much smaller spiritual presences, which manifests as dividing objects or removing life from things. So, in conclusion, I think Shardblades and Nightblood have a relationship similar to that of a hacksaw and a crane-mounted wrecking ball.- 56 replies
