Cycle 1 ends in just about 10 minutes! Currently a bunch of folks (everyone Mat pinged) stands to be replaced by a pinch-hitter or removed from the game!

The Ja felt the moment of death, knew the killer at once, and began channeling his energy into communicating to whoever might be sensitive to his powers. The SPF gathered together in a room, each having felt the Ja's efforts to clue them into the identity of the killer. They all had brought their assorted exotic weapons, Investiture, and other random knickknacks, which meant the room was rather crowded, in particular with somewhat dangerous objects. The Investigators set to work, eager to solve the crime and disband before something deadly was set loose. The game has fully begun! My clues are listed below, and you can also see them in the spreadsheet. Begin discussing, and anyone is now allowed to solve the crime. Just remember to @ me or it won't be counted. Cycle 2 will be posted at 5PM Eastern Time on Saturday! Link to Spreadsheet Oracle Clues: Player List:

Just a heads up, rollover is going to happen a bit late. 6 or 6:30 instead of 5, I’m not able to get on a computer where I can mess with the spreadsheet right now.

The Ja could sense a change in the Cosmere. Someone was about to be killed, and it was too late to prevent it. He focused his willpower on the hostile intentions, hoping to perceive the details of the crime. Meanwhile, Investigators of the Silverlight Police Force were paying Jourth of the Jwilight (@Devotary of Spontaneity's character) a visit. Jourth was well known as a trader in oddities from all across the Cosmere, with a specific penchant for frivolous uses of quite dangerous objects. There were rumors that she'd been seen selling a tank of deathants, and that wasn't even the most... deadly of her wares. The SPF was hoping to procure a collection of these dangerous items, purely for educational purposes of course. Cycle 0 has begun, and will end at 5PM EST on Friday the 17th! PMs are closed (and will never be open in this game). Right now the player list has been set and everyone has been randomly assigned their Methods and Evidences. The starting tiles have not been chosen yet, so you can disregard those for now. You can view all of this in the game's spreadsheet, or click on the spoiler tag below: Feel free to chat and RP as you like while the Assassin makes their selections! All roles are present in the game, and everyone should have received a PM from me with your alignment, role, and Evidences+Methods. Player List:

That's correct. Whatever time the Eastern US is currently on is what I'm using.

Note, there was an error in both the rules doc and the posted rules; all players will receive 5 Methods of Evidence and 5 Pieces of Evidence rather than 4. This is in line with QF33b, which was considered more balanced than the first run of the game.

@The Known Novel, you mentioned a while back not being able to run a game for 3 weeks. Are we far enough out that if your game started after my QF that you’d be able to run it?

That's the one that I'm running, it starts on Thursday.

Yeah, the D0 is necessary for the Assassin to pick their Key Evidence and Method of Murder, but all that happens in thread is chatting.

Sure! I'm copying the player list below to ping everyone, since the signups had a typo on the start date. The game starts this coming Thursday the 16th.

Good catch. I'm confusing the schedule for this with my class. It starts on the 16th, and I'll edit the OP.

You can see what's available on the setup tab of the linked spreadsheet. There's some pretty nifty stuff there. Of course, some of the Methods are a bit abstract to be collectible.

Hmm, maybe the Oracle for this game should be the Ja.

Welcome to QF65! This game is a rerun of @Herowannabe's QF33 Deception: Murder in the Cosmere, and like that game, is very different from other SE games, so make sure to read the rules carefully. Somewhere in the Cosmere, a murder has taken place, and it's up to (most of) you to solve it before the murderer gets away. An abundance of suspicious objects have been located at the scene of the crime, and the players must identify both the "Method of Murder" as well as the "Key Evidence". Complicating things is that the Assassin and possibly some of their Co-conspirators have infiltrated your numbers, and will try their best to foil your efforts to solve the mystery. However, two things may come to your aid. The first is the Oracle, a powerful being that knows all the details of the crime, but is limited in it's ability to communicate. Additionally, one of the Investigators may also be a Witness to the killing, able to identify all of the conspirators so long as you can keep their identity hidden. The complete rules can be found in doc form here, or in the spoilers below: And here is a schedule of events (the listed day is when that cycle starts): Signups will close at 5:00PM EST on Thursday the 16th, and the game will start shortly afterwards. In addition, since this game runs rather quickly, if there is interest I will run it a second time shortly after the first round ends. If you don't think you have the bandwidth to play as the Witness/Assassin/Co-conspirator, let me know in a PM or through Discord and I'll take that into consideration when building the distribution (no promises though). @Devotary of Spontaneity will be the IM for this game. Here is a link to the spreadsheet I will be using to run the game. Player List: Quick Links: Pinch Hitters:

Has anyone heard from @Random Bystander? It looks like she hasn't been on the Shard since Monday.

I'm ready to run my game. Kas said that Fifth is busy.

Mid-Range Game 62: In The Shadow of Ash
Araris Valerian replied to StrikerEZ's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I mean, I would do a coin toss . As far as what actually should be done, that's a harder question, and one I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on. The "official" outcome doesn't really matter that much, because everyone's done what they can do; there's no more game left to play, at least in terms of the mechanics. I think as a community we aren't so fixated on who wins for it to be a big deal either way. With that in mind, whatever is done should reflect the spirit of SE in another way. Perhaps, pending agreement by the living players, some sort of RP duel, to be judged by the GM/IM/impartial spectators, might be fun. Or some other random contest. -

Mid-Range Game 62: In The Shadow of Ash
Araris Valerian replied to StrikerEZ's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I kinda take issue with that win-con in that the village would win this game 50% of the time with an outnumber win con. And also the presence of so many ways to deal with the NK means that parity could break in favor of the village. I think having it like it is prevents a whole bunch of cycles where there is just a die roll to determine who dies, but there should be more nuance with this rule set. Not to take away from the elim win here. They structured their play around the defined rules (and I killed them over the clarified rules ) and we all knew what we were signing up for. This is just some feedback for a potential rerun. -
Mid-Range Game 62: In The Shadow of Ash

Yeah, I figured that one out, but it required Aman to attack me instead of TJ, which would just be an unnecessary risk.
