Mostly because I feel like we need pressure of a lynch at this point. You forgot to take my vote off of Devotary, probably because of the abominable abbreviation Rath used. If you want a 4-letter abbreviation, call me Fade or Rari, both of which are canonical .

Here's a marked up player list. People in italics haven't posted, and people in bold are people I don't plan on voting for this cycle, for various reasons. Here are the ones that are left. It totally could be that the inquisitor and convert aren't in here, but I'd wager at least one of them is. shanerockes (Bill) Randuir (Eliza Deveill) Devotary of Spontaneity (Nevene) Rathmaskal (Rebelmaskal) Young Bard (Beattie Buvidas) Sart (TBA) STINK (Fonar Redacted) I'm fine with lynching anyone from this list right now. I don't think we should lynch 2 people though, since a longer game gives us more time to hunt out convert/inquisitor interactions. Since nobody wants to jump on my vote on Devotary, I'll switch back to Bard. I'm slightly worried that elim!Rath voted for Bard simply because I already expressed suspicion of him, making it a safe vote that wouldn't lead to a lynch.

Try putting it in your browser . (the whole thing)

In general, I agree. The problem is, the Turn is half over and we are still on the first page, with something like half the players having posted once. Also, my vote on Devotary was based on everything I mentioned in my post. A lack of voting, and the quote I find suspicious.
-
I realize that. But even if no misting were lynched, it wouldn't have been much of a loss to the village. The word "risk" seems rather strong to me given that the stakes were pretty darned low last cycle.

I think if anyone had a good answer for what caused inactivity then it wouldn't be an issue. My current activity levels are somewhat of an anomaly, because I'm working at a computer and don't have much else to be doing. If this game is still going in a few weeks then things might drop off for me. Edit: I also suppose people could be chatting lots in PMs.
-
@shanerockes It doesn't matter too much who you are suspicious of. Just pick somebody random and vote for them, and that will be better than doing nothing (you could even vote for me or Randuir for being annoying ) . People have to feel like they are under threat of getting lynched, or they won't give anything away about their alignment. You can't worry about lynching a villager, not this early in the game. If 3-4 people are worried about getting lynched each cycle, then odds are one of those players will be an elim after a few cycles. If only 1-2 are, like this day cycle, then we could be doomed. I'm also going to switch my vote from Bard to Devotary. @Devotary of Spontaneity, the cycle is nearly half over. Wait any longer to vote and there won't be any discussion. (emphasis mine) This comes off as rather elim sounding to me.

By the way, I'm the only person voting Bard. So far as I can tell, Bard didn't take any risks to save anyone. My point is that it appears he was rushed when deciding who to vote on, which reads slightly elim to me. In general, villagers aren't under pressure to do anything, while elims are under pressure to hide. Thus, barring IRL stuff, I'd say a rushed action reads more elim than village. There isn't really anything more to my vote than that, and we should probably discuss some other possibilities for the lynch. We're something like 3/8 of the way through the cycle, and a grand total of 3 votes have been placed, one of which was retracted. That's not really great. Just statistically, I'm probably wrong about Bard, and I'd like to analyze some other people's suspicions rather than argue back and forth about mine. Edit: While I'm waiting to hear from everyone else, I'll give my thoughts on the conversion. I'd probably take 3 things into consideration as the Inquisitor: Recent enjoyable PM or doc interactions with a player Current suspicion against players mentioned in the thread The possibility to engage a less active/newer member of the community Roles don't matter too much, and my approach to PMs means I'd be shooting blind on that front anyways.

I switched to Lumgol because I felt uncomfortable about the lynch last cycle, but didn't know what to do with it. Lumgol was the next closest in line after Fifth and Aman. I didn't really pay attention to your reason for voting back then, since most D1 reasons are sketchy at best. I don't think you were framing Lum, I think you were skimming looking for someone to vote on, and saw something easy. While that's not necessarily an elim tell, it lines up with how I might act if I were the Inquisitor.
-
Woo hoo! With 2 elims, we can get back to our regular scheduled consensual murders! I'm going to vote on Bard, for his vote on Lumgol last cycle: This seems like a blatant misinterpretation of Lumgol's post, which was about the number of lives the Inquisitor has, not the number of spikes. Also, STINK posted as I was typing this, but I think my point is worthwhile enough for a second vote on Bard.
-
@Randuir I highly doubt that the Inquisitor would rely on vote manipulation to survive, because that would block both conversion and killing at night, unless the emotional allomancy didn't cost an action.
-
@I lost my flute If you enjoy mafia, come check out Sanderson Elimination.
-
@Rathmaskal I would sort of say I was less aggressive, although I also was committed to a lynch from the start. No early death can scare me from a D1 lynch . It's more that Aman totally dominated the discussion, while also trying to kill himself, which made it awkward to be aggressive. I'm not sure what Aman feels about this .
-
I'll switch my vote from Aman to Lumgol. This is for you, Alvron. Aman can Soothe to get a 3-way tie.
-
Whoa, lots more people are viewing the thread now. I'm going to stick to my vote on Aman I suppose. It would be nice to hear from @Devotary of Spontaneity and @shanerockes, while they're around.
-
Well, Fifth is acting just like Fifth always does. Just like you are acting like you always do. I'm just as suspicious of Fifth as I am of you, but I agree with Fifth more. And unless both you and Brightness want to swing the lynch onto someone else, there aren't really other options.
-
The cycle is going to end in 55 minutes. As things stand, either Aman dies, or Aman soothes somebody and he and Fifth both die. Anyone else want to vote on Aman so we don't have a double-kill?
-
I think it's game related strategy in the same way that discussion on a D1 lynch or how to use Coinshots is game related. Yes, it ties into our current game, but people's opinions and posts are going to be heavily influenced by their personal playstyles, perhaps more so than their alignment. I'm fairly sure that both Inquisitor!Me and Village!Me would disagree with you, although the former would secretly hope that you actually got lynched. Also, you sort of accounted for every possible reaction to your gambit when you listed how you thought the Inquisitor would react: Keep you alive Ignore you Challenge you So what exactly would a villager do? All of the above?
-
How is your controversy generating talk different from normal D1 discussion? I'd wager that half the games in this forum have D1 discussions dominated by whether we should have a D1 lynch, and that half the remaining ones are focused on role distributions. There's nearly always some meta point that gets brought up, blown out of proportion, and then leads to a lynch.
-
@Amanuensis, what do the colors in your post count mean? Also, in the interests of having the most fun, which seems to be the gist of a lot of the discussion this cycle, I'll vote on Aman. I think this meta discussion about how to get the most enjoyment out of the game is a distraction, intentional or not, and also rather counterproductive (since I don't find it very fun). It's turning into another Fifth vs. Aman battle, which, based on the last one, just clutters the thread without giving us anything useful to analyze (no offense intended to you two). If we lynch Aman this cycle, then we don't have to deal with either of the aforementioned problems, and we have as good a chance as any of killing the Inquisitor as we would killing anyone else, while not removing both of the most verbose players on the forum simultaneously. If we need to retract votes, then here's that: STINK, Aman

@urrutiap Have you read anything by Terry Pratchett? I'm not enough of an expert to suggest a starting point for his books, but if you enjoy them there are plenty to keep you busy.
-
I suppose I should ping @STINK to let him know he's been vote on, although I'm going to stick to my vote as a Stab Vote(TM).
