Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Elandera All the other players that Walin gave a village read on we have high confidence are actually village. What makes Fura different? @Karnage Except for Green Rover, I don't really share any of your suspicions. Could you elaborate on them? (doesn't need to be a lot of elaboration, I'd just like to know if there's something I've missed).- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Haelbarde I’m reading you (slightly) more as village now. I disagree with your vote elim read on Straw on the grounds that Straw often does things as a villager that I read as elim, and that I had an elim read on Rath, so I’m fine with his expulsion. I’d also be happy to lynch Devotary today, although I think looking at Walin’s posts is a good idea as well for lynch targets. Also, if the write up has anything to say, it appears that Walin was killed by a Namer using Iron. If that is the case, the Namer should be wary of their sanity, since they are basically a confirmed villager. Edit: Okay, I looked at Walin, and it seems the only game relevant things he has done are: 1) Make a list of players making lists 2) Say he has village reads on DeTess, Xino, and Fura 3) Say he has no read on Kynedath 4) Mention having a single EP in Naming DeTess is insane, and Xino almost was. That makes me wonder if Fura is on a hit list as well. I feel better about Fura being village than most players, so I don't think Walin was trying to be misleading. Kynedath is on my radar, perhaps even more so because Walin refused to comment. If Walin was telling the truth about EP in Naming, then I'd guess an elim is trying to become a Master in Naming. So as to make use of this before it gets too old, I'll put a double complaint on Kynedath Kynedath, who was on my suspicion list a couple months ago.- 951 replies

I think I'm all for expelling Zillah Zillah. While I'm suspicious of Hael, I agree that it is dangerous to have a player submitting actions and EP but not contributing at all to the discussion. Whoops. I meant to post this last night.- 951 replies

Vote count: Elandera (2): Fura, Fura Devotary (2): Araris, Araris Fura (1): Lopen This is kind of pathetic, given that there are less than 23 hours left in the cycle, although I suppose there is a good chance of expelling all of the above.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Your counts are slightly off. Only 18 people cast votes, but 4 were insane, so only 5 people didn't vote: Burnt, Experience, Zillah, Walin, and Greenrover. Of these, Experience, Zillah, and Greenrover are relatively new players, so their lack of votes is slightly more sensible. Also, given that money is a resource for the elim team, and that voting (at least once) is an easy way to earn some cash, I'd anticipate that the elims probably all voted at least once. I think I should probably lump STINK in with the non-voters, since his votes on Fura were somewhat trolly. Also, the following is somewhat wrong: Hael and Devotary didn't place a second vote. edit: I realize that you mentioned that Come to think of it, here's the list of players that only voted once: Hael, Devotary, Rath, Cadcom, Kynedath. This to me seems like the place elims would hide. (STINK could also fit in here, since he did end up getting the tuition reduction without committing to much). Hael has been posting a lot of content, although all of his reads are village/neutral, which isn't helpful. I'm going to wait before voting on him. I can understand why Rath voted only once on Coda, but that doesn't explain why he didn't use his second vote. Also, I think a lot of Coda's posts have been RP, although not clearly discernible as such. So I question Rath's vote here. Devotary voted on Bard only at the end of the cycle, and only once. That's pretty suspicious to me. Cadcom had two votes out, and then place a single vote on Fura. I'm hesitant about this, since in his shoes I would have voted Bard+Fura, to make sure that spreading votes didn't hinder the lynch of Bard, which CadCom claimed to support. Kynedath voted on Burnt for hedging about a WGG on Bard. Of course, it's usually impossible to tell if a WGG occurred, and just mentioning it is a good idea so people don't put their trust in the wrong places. So I probably disagree both with this vote, and the fact that it was singular. I'm also disappointed that Kynedath never took a stance on Bard. In conclusion, I'm happy to vote on Rath, Devotary, Cadcom, or Kynedath, and Devotary is probably the highest suspicion out of those. RP to come later perhaps.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Furamirionind, Wilson already confirmed that RP lies count. Analysis in and of itself isn't alignment indicative, although I think players that appear to be trying to solve the game are worth leaving alive longer. Analysis worth doing is opinionated, and that gives everyone else something to go off of when they try and read you. Things that stuck out to me: 1) Post by Karnage seems too exuberant for some graphs. 2) Elandera suggests spreading votes to commoners. Could be evil indicative if there are several elim nobles. 3) Elkanah downplays the usefulness of mommets 4) Coda emphasizes the randomness of his vote 5) Kynedath didn't vote, seems village to me (or at least non-elim, since they probably want to maximize cash) 6) Lumgol suggests that people spread out their EP. This would benefit the elims' win condition by helping them become masters. He's now insane, so that's debunked 7) Striker votes on two people I have village reads on, unfortunately he's probably village. 7) Post this cycle by DeTess, since I'm just doing my job of encouraging bloodthirsty lynches, which I do every game, regardless of alignment And another thing: It seems to me that an elim would be relatively more likely to be elevated than a villager, since the elims can coordinate their EP to not compete with each other. That supports the possibility of Bard being an elim. Based on this, and #7 of the above, I'll put my complaints on Bard (El'the) and DeTess (Re'lar) for now.- 951 replies

Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The difference is that Lopen already has votes on him, so by voting on him I am not spreading votes around myself. Also, why are people averse to having the lynch expel people? That's the whole point of it, and it's less harsh than the lynch we have in normal games.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, I wasn't able to spend too much time looking over things this cycle. However, it looks like Lopen is trying to spread the votes, which puts less pressure on the people we are focusing on. While Fura disagrees with all the votes on Lopen, I agree with everything else that Fura has said. Arael's studies were slipping somewhat, along with his attention to which students may be skindancers. Due to the administrative skills he'd gained while assisting with his family's estates, he'd been offered a grading position by the Arithmetics master. Unfortunately, the extra work had been too much to handle on to of his other duties, so Arael had regretfully informed the master that he wouldn't be able to assist the following term. It was a shame, because with his current lack of elevation into the Arcanum, the position had been Arael's only inroad to the University.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm thinking that the eliminators will actively want to avoid being put on the horns (and definitely avoid being expelled). Thus, by having pressure from the complaint votes, we force the elims to take action, which we can be on the lookout for.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm not, as you put it, "so suspicious of you". I'm just more suspicious of you than the average other player. I gave the explanation for my complaints in my post. Part of the reason I chose Straw was that he was demonstrably active at the time I posted, and thus I wouldn't be running into the issue Straw has brought up, where many players aren't worried about defending themselves. Also, I think it is safer (and thus more of an elim tactic) to agree with an idea that has already been brought up, than to try and forcefully change what the village is trying to do. Hence why Straw is more suspicious than those earlier players.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm going to put a double complaint onto Straw Straw. I no longer think it is in our interest to spread the complaints around. At this point (and also probably sooner in the game, if we had wanted), we should really think of the complaints as a lynch. I was happy to go along for a bit since this game has a bunch of fun mechanics and knocking people out during the first cycle seemed a bit rude. We learn absolutely nothing by spreading the complaints, and I'd rather start learning something. Unfortunately it's a bit late in the cycle, but I wanted to wait and see who would suggest that we continue spreading votes out.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To be honest, I don't really need a tuition reduction. So I'll hold off on voting, at least for now. Arael penned a letter to Lord Sib, in response to hearing that the fellow had filed a complaint in his direction. Sib, It has come to my attention that you find my activity in this University to be unsatisfactory. No matter. You are, as I have pointed out before, only a commoner, and thus beneath any further notice from me. No doubt your complaints will amount to nothing, and I will file none against you to instigate trouble. I bid you good day and wish you success in your ventures here, to the extent that one of lesser birth such as yourself can have. Arael Solon Letter written, Arael set out to find Lord Sib's address to have it sent. After checking the Horse and Four along with the Golden Pony, Arael remembered again that Lord Sib was in fact a commoner, and wouldn't have lodging at such fine establishments. So instead he found a messenger boy (one not scared off by his face), gave him the letter, along with instructions to check the various cheaper housing options near the university, and put the whole thing out of his mind. Back to studying in the Archives.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm not really sure that there is much to say at this point in the game. I'm going to continue my complaint against Lord Sib, this time for having "lord" in his name, while being a commoner. Arael, though not yet admitted into the Arcanum, began reading up on the more mystical subjects taught at the University; Alchemy, Naming, Artificery, and Sympathy. As he collected some texts for his introductory courses, Arael kept his eye out for other books that might be enlightening. During his search, he mused that the Archives were a good fit for his personality. It was easy to avoid other students, and the low lighting kept a shadow cast over his face. This would be a good place to spend his study time, regardless of the subject he ended up pursuing.- 951 replies

Long Game 65: Dancing through Life
Araris Valerian replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lord Siberfarben, I'd like to extend my official welcome to SE . Seems like it's in my own best interest to spread the love around, and that there might be a riot if I file a complaint about a Ruh. Some rather dramatic social turnover must have happened since Kvothe's time. Arael had just been minding his own business, staying cooped up in his room, when he heard a complaint had been filed against him at the University. Apparently, the place was so prestigious that if you didn't spend half your waking hours there before the term started then people started accusing you of wrongdoing. In response to that foolishness, Arael had gone over to the university to file a complaint against one the jumped up commoners. People these days didn't have any respect for the hard earned station of nobility. The outing had probably been a mistake. Arael had worn a hood to avoid attracting too much attention, but that only helped so much. He was sure he had caught lots of muttering and whispered conversations anytime he passed through a busy street. The worst had been a child, asking its mother what was wrong with Arael's face. And of course, while at the University, he hadn't even bothered, since everyone there was going to see him anyway. That was the reason why Arael had come to the University. Having a disfigured face was... not ideal for a nobleman, and Areal's natural reclusive tendencies didn't help his social standing. Only the Arcanum offered a way up in the world for him, and by extension, for his parents.- 951 replies

Mid-Range Game 40: A Defiant Rebellion
Araris Valerian replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Elandera Thanks for running this game! @Fifth Scholar and @Abstrusity, it was a pleasure to scheme with you both. The only thing that would have made it better was actually winning. @Sart I appreciate your support of me during Cycle 3 . Otherwise the last few cycles would have been rather less interesting. @xinoehp512 Props to you for insane guesses as to our identities. You never gave any hint as to your role in thread, and your accusations of me prior to your reveal seemed very unlinked to a scan. I was convinced that a Elkanah was the engineer, actually, which I why I tried to have you lynched. I didn’t want to force the engineer into outing me until we had a greater lead. General thoughts on the game: Mechanic wise, I think the chit/pistol combination heavily favored the elims. Especially since killing a player granted a share of their chits. Had it not been for Xino forcing our hand, we probably would have won from the 3 extra kills from all the pistols. This contributed to another minor problem; the game was somewhat short. We were somewhat close to winning at the end of cycle 3. That cycle could also have been made less difficult for us if we had preempted Xino by claiming to have seen him sending in the kill. Of course, given the hidden village vote manip, this didn’t work out, but with slightly different kill targets, we’d have been fine. I did greatly appreciate a positive incentive to remain active in this game, as opposed to an inactivity filter. (One problem, which came out of my analysis, was that half of the players working to get all the chits were elims) If I Gm a game, I will probably try and incorporate something similar. Maybe allow players to privately set their own activity expectations pre-game, and then reward them for holding to that. I liked all the possible roles, and think that we could play again with the same distribution and have it be pretty balanced. The Bountiful Gunner reveal skewed things quite heavily in our favor, and without that (and Xino being crazy good), eventually one of use would have died, giving the village a place to work from. The setting was a bit awkward to RP in, largely because (for those of us who had actually read the books), we still didn’t see much of the DDF society. Still, it was fun to defy the Defiants. Overall, I had lots of fun. I don’t usually play MR games anymore, but this one had a nice pace and reasonable activity from everyone. Hope to kill (and be killed by) all of you again in the near future!- 229 replies

Following the discovery of an EBI agent among their ranks, the Set subtly entered a state of internal chaos. Accusations of treason flew between the members, although nobody could come to any sort of agreement. Additionally, the nature of the Set’s members made it dangerous to confront another member too directly. One of the first proposed traitors was Zillah, but that was quickly dropped when he discretely approached his accuser. At the end of the day, nothing had been decided, although there was a vague distrust of Who Doesn’t Know Their Character Yet But We Shall See, Ned, Pete Zahutt, Mundric Pentasum, Kidpen, Drahs Xperienc, and Esualpla Dowenger that went somewhat beyond the wariness that had now permeated the entire Set. In the moment, there was too much tension and too many people around to take direct action, so nothing apparent was done. Later that day, Drahs sat down to enjoy a cup of cocoa. He'd heard of the drink from a family member, but wanted to see if it lived up to their talk. Drahs took a sip, and decided that it was too bitter for his tastes, although the flavor wasn't half bad. Perhaps with some sugar... Before he could think too much further, Drahs felt a weakness creeping out from his stomach and into his limbs. He instinctively reached for the healing stored in his metalminds, and then realized with a sinking feeling that he’d used up his stores to recover from a cold the past week. He’d been putting off filling them back up… Drahs fell off his seat and did not get back up. News of Drahs’s death spread quickly among the Set, and while initial rumors fingered a Bureau assassin, it was eventually disovered that someone had acted upon the suspicions voiced earlier in the day. A thorough search of Drah’s belongings revealed that he had no ties to the EBI. Some members of the internal Set bureaucracy were making attempts to mask the chaos, but with mixed effect. A 10th anniversary party for the organization was arranged by one enterprising group, but since the Set had been founded six months and eight years ago, this only added to the confusion. A more cohesive attempt to respond to the situation unfolded when some EBI agents began an investigation into Cool-Headed Hats. The business, known for aluminum lined headgear, was owned by a member of the Set, but coincidentally had no connection to any disreputable dealings. After the owner explained his situation to the rest of his Sequence, the frustration against the EBI took on the form of a systematic legal assault on the officers responsible for the disruption. While the suit didn’t get anyone closer to discovering the EBI infiltrators, it did ease the tension among the Set members as they considered which of their friends might be a traitor. EXPERIENCE_THE_SHARD was a gold ferring ranked Suit in the Legal Subset working for the Set. Gold Ferring: You will survive one attack (but not the EBI arrest or the lynch) Vote Tally: Venture (1): Bard Kidpen (1): Abstrusity Shanerockes (1): Experience Elkanah (1): Elandera Experience (1): Shanerockes Abstrusity (1): Kidpen Alvron (1): Venture Player List:
