  1. I've currently got Experience flagged for more things than any other player. However, to diversify the votes, at least initially, I'll place on Magestar. Again, none of my suspicions/reasons are concrete enough to be worth arguing over in the thread yet, so I'm not going to offer further explanation.
  2. As far as analysis of the last cycle goes, I'd assume that one or two of the canceled votes were cause by Feruchemy. It's also probably worth considering that people who didn't place votes may have been either Rioters or one of the Feruchemy roles that cancels a vote. If I were an elim, I probably would have Soothed one (or two, if possible) of the votes on Hatz. The reason being that Hatz was totally inactive, so there was no incentive for the elims to want to kill them. However, Hatz is now slightly suspicious, having been saved by vote manip. I'd like to hear from (them/him/her?) next cycle if possible to get a more solid read. Here's my updated reads list: Elim Experience Kynedath Magestar Village Karnage Pyro Reading TJ Shade Ashbringer I've pretty much just added some village reads based on people either trying to solve the game or saying things that an elim probably wouldn't say. I might add Drake and Xino to the elim list, since the fact that I don't have a read on either of them despite several posts makes me somewhat suspicious. Everyone else basically needs to say more things. I know it's currently night, but once day hits we should get some serious lynch discussion going. I'll probably vote on one of the 5 names above, although the result of the night cycle could influence that somewhat.
  3. Araris sat in a corner, sharpening his sword. This whole situation was quickly devolving beyond his comfort zone. Insectoid hive mind aliens? Easy. Secret assassins trying to overthrow the government? He’d slain the Immortals during the Night of the Red Stars. But this mess of shouting people was a worse mess than if you left five copies of Tavi alone for a month! As he considered how to respond, he felt a tap on the shoulder. Turning, Araris noticed an elderly man leaning somewhat heavily on a well-worn staff. The stranger was both familiar and not, for he was certainly not among the original inhabitants of the room, yet his face jogged something in Araris’s memory. Before Araris could react, the newcomer struck out with his staff. Rather than impacting, it sank into Araris’s chest, and the swordmaster puffed into a cloud of Mist, which slowly dispersed. Aralis surveyed the room. He could tell from across the Cosmere when an older fellow was in need of help for disciplining foolish youngsters, and figured it was time to intervene. Also, having been killed several times himself, he didn’t have much to worry about if things went a bit south here. He hefted his staff and looked for the best place to intervene.
  4. I believe I am currently voting on Coda. And unless they retracted, one or more people (besides Karnage) were voting on me.
  5. I do this every game. What's the point in voting on someone (when the most voted on person dies) if you don't want to kill them? I already explained why poke votes are useless.
  6. I guess I'll change my vote from Experience to Coda. I don't think having a massive tie is going to be helpful, since we'd likely just be letting the elims choose who dies.
  7. In response to this and perhaps other players who feel the same: There's a party game out there called "Wits and Wagers". Each turn, there is a random trivia question with a numerical answer, such as "How tall is Big Bird" or "What is the date of such and such event". Instead of rewarding players for getting the correct answer, the players win by betting on any answer, so long as it is closest to being correct. I think we should aim to treat this game similarly. Throw out some suspicions, even if they aren't much better than random (this can be useful because the elims probably won't give random answers). Then let the rest of the players sort through what they want to agree/disagree with. If all the villagers didn't say anything about their suspicions, then the elims would run away with the game. It is a (extremely minor) downside that whoever we end up lynching is out of the game, but that shouldn't deter us too much. After all, military governments aren't built from sunshine and daisies, but the blood of innocents. Also, as the SE player with the most games, I can say that I began to have more fun once I stopped worrying too much about lynching the wrong person early in the game (it's the late game where this really matters).
  8. I agree wholeheartedly. I wish the "most posts" only counted the 200+ word analysis and RP posts.
  9. We could just lynch Pyro, very nicely ask the elims to kill Experience, and hope that everyone else takes the hint .
  10. Hold on. For one thing, there is no way that I could be as certain about anything as you seem to imply with your vote here (although, to be honest, I don't mind votes on Coda in principle). And I misspoke. I meant that you and Coda are probably not elims together. You could totally both be villagers. Generally, you can't really tell if an interaction is V/V, but there are some things that don't really make sense for E/E interactions. Edit: For example, Magestar and Coda are also somewhat unlikely to both be elims, but they could easily both be villagers.
  11. That's fine, I wasn't looking for a defense. I was trying to start dialogue so we could pin down a few people to choose our lynchee for the cycle from.
  12. I don’t think it’s sad. I sort of have a reputation among the more experienced players as not being very chatty in PMs, and I suspect my more aggressive play style makes the newer players less likely to message me. That’s fine though, since unless you are in a doc, the heart and soul of the game happens in the thread. I prefer using PMs for dastardly schemes rather than plain old chit chat.
  13. I'd rather let other people read through the thread and come up with their own suspicions, rather than focus all the discussion around my (somewhat arbitrary) reads. I have reasons, and I'll share them later, but I think I'll be able to read other people better before I do that. Edit: In response to Pyro, everything comes from the thread. Pyro, you are my only PM actually.
  14. Mist. My current greatest suspicion is now on Experience (it's not actually a huge suspicion though). I've also got mild elim reads on Coda, Kynedath, and Magestar, although I don't think Coda/Experience are a team both elims. I've got mild village reads on Shard of Reading and Karnage (although I'm somewhat miffed you picked me to vote on after my C1 death in the MR). Anyone (aside from Mist) not mentioned in this post, could you please do some analysis and/or vote on somebody (not just poke vote)? We have lots of players to look through, and it's harder to find elims if people aren't solving the game. If people could post a list along the lines of: Elim Experience Coda Kynedath Magestar Villager Shard of Reading Karnage I think that would help us out. Also, if anyone has a different read on one of the above folks, I'd appreciate hearing about that as well. I'm not sure that the role analysis is doing much good, although I understand it's something of a SE tradition to have lots of discussion D1 about the various abilities on the game. I just don't recall said discussion really coming up again post C1. Since people seem to be pretty objective when talking about roles, they make posts that are also fairly NAI. The discussion of the Kandra may be slightly more useful, but I doubt it. For the elims, the Kandra is just another player to kill on the way to their win con. To the village, they aren't really a threat at all. To the general SE player, they are a weird mechanic that people on a forum about making crazy theories can make crazy theories about. I think that last factor is going to overpower the other two. Edit: I clarified some language above
  15. I dunno. If you're completely broke, then shopping is very easy.
  16. I’d just like to clarify that my vote on @Mist is not looking for a post or any specific content. It’s me saying that Mist is a perfectly good lynch target this cycle that I am comfortable (albeit less so because they are new) with. In my opinion, poke votes are nearly always useless, so just assume that my vote is not a poke vote in general. Using the @ping function is a decent way to poke people which lets you vote on someone you actually want dead.
  17. What, in your mind, differentiates trying to find the Kandra versus trying to find the elims? Aren’t both the Kandra and elims pursuing win conditions that will lead to dishonest reads and votes in the thread? I think I’ll start the lynch pressure a little early with a second vote on Mist. Welcome to Sanderson Elimination!
  18. Due to my untimely demise in the MR (I knew there was a reason I only play LGs), I'll sign up as Araris Valerian, a very lost blademaster.
  19. I was trying to distance myself from Sart, since he hasn't done anything to make me trust him.
  20. I think we'll have to agree to disagree about this.
  21. The thing is, the "discussion" and "friction" amount to the following: I vote on player X. Player X makes a post to the effect of "I'm here, but I don't really have any suspicions". I move my vote to player Y and repeat. At the end of the day, we didn't learn anything.
  22. The thing is, poke votes are entirely useless, especially with a 3-vote minimum this first cycle. I’ve said this before in other games, but I think as a community our C1 votes should be a bit more “stabby” rather than “pokey”. Also, there’s a little more depth to the scenario than you give it credit for. Certainly there is some interaction between Sart and myself here. However, as I’ve already mentioned, we have very little to go off of C1, so just because I find you a better lynch target than Sart doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t be fine lynching Sart tomorrow, if I felt it necessary. In point of fact, I also am mildly suspicious of Sart for voting on Straw, since Straw’s village play style has been noted several times in last games as setting off people’s gut reads. I’m also going to look for somewhere new for my vote, since it doesn’t seem like enough of the thread is engaging in these two wagons for them to be super useful.
  23. How is Sart's "bandwagon-y attitude" any different from mine? I explicity voted on Karnage because he already had a vote. There is a 3-vote minimum for the lynch this cycle, and because it is very rare for any obvious AI stuff to come up cycle 1, some bandwagoning is necessary for a lynch to happen at all. I'm usually uncomfortable voting on Straw, since his village playstyle sends to set me off consistently. But I think having lynch pressure this early is good, and I'm somewhat suspicious of Xino for trying to remove that pressure so quickly.
  24. I’m here and I think I’ll vote on Karnage, as someone who is only poke-voting and who also already has a vote.
