  1. I beg you pardon then. I now feel slightly less left out Unfortunately, I was unaware of Brandon's writing back then , so I'll be crossing my fingers that he'll visit again some time in the future. EDIT: By the way, do you remember which book-store he visited? I would like to ask them if they would be open to invite him again in a few years. I think I remember reading somewhere that Brandon would be happy to find time for more or less anywhere as long as he could get his ticket paid.
  2. A very good and eloquent post, hoser, but I am rather confused by this specific part: Exactly how do we know that civilization will prevail? Is not his entire reasoning, at least in the light of the teaser from WoR, that the Shards would be of better use in the up-coming desolation in his possession than in an unknown wild card's, such as Kaladin and Coreb? In my opinion, especially if he is earnest in his belief that he can do more to prevent/combat the coming storm than his unfortunate underlings, it is exactly in this kind of scenario that the consequentialistic reasoning would apply.
  3. A good analysis. I feel quite confident in your strategy, considering that the Inquisitor would not have any allies this early. I shall partake in this effort and start up a conversation with Peng. I shall wait until others come forth to verify Pengs target. Not that I do not trust you, Kukri (actually, thinking closer about this, I do not really ), but I would feel safer trusting Peng if we could get a separate confirmation of it.
  4. Have an up-vote for sharing my feeling of being left out. It might not be a worthy substitute for a Sandersonian visit, but at least its something. And yes, our prices are rather steep compared to other countries. I've lived several years in France, and I was quite happy with the things I could afford on my Norwegian stipend. Now, back in Norway, I quietly cry a bit to myself every time I go shopping.
  5. Woah! This looks to have become rather heated! I am myself amongst the ones who consider Amaram to be a (mostly) noble character who have become severely misguided. But whether people agree with that assessment or not, we should not debase ourselves to ad hominem argumentation and attacks. If we cannot have a civil moral debate, then I suggest it is time to leave it be.
  6. I am not so sure it would be wise of the Seeker to present him(/her)self openly. He would only end up making him(/her)self a target. In fact, in the last game, that only made us (the quartet of Spiked villagers) work to kill him (Edgedancer, to my knowlegde, is male) even faster. We got the villagers to lynch him that very same day. It would be better if he were to announce him(/her)self to the ones he has sought through a PM and start building a coalition secretly. If (s)he happened to find the Inquisitor, though, then (s)he should come out in the open and tell us to kill him/her. I suggest that we should heed the call of anyone who openly comes fourth and claims to have found our enemy and have out remaining lurchers to protect him/her. If (s)he proves to be a liar, then we can always just kill him/her the very next day.
  7. I admit I am ignorant of how this forum (or any internet site at all) is coded, and I might be guilty of taking it all a bit too lightly. Let me say that I am very glad you've all put in so much work to set up this site in the first place, and while it might be cool bonus to have specific spoiler-tags for each of Brandon's books, this is by no means an absolute must. I am quite happy with the site we already have I am not sure this would be necessary, since most of us have imaginative ways of linking to the source material. I think it would be better to spend time on keeping theoryland.com updated than creating a specialized quote box. One thing that would be a nice addition, though, would be a beginner's guide to how to make orderly and properly cited posts. If there already is such a guide on this forum, I am unaware of it, and a link to it in the welcome mail would be a nice perk.
  8. Why, oh why does he not visit Norway? I feel left out...
  9. I have never considered this. But if so, why would he keep his in a sheath? I suppose you could somehow make an invested sheath, so that the blade wouldn't just cut through it, but that would be quite a stretch. Also, there's that theory that his sword is an Awakened Blade...
  10. Aether had never been a person to wake up and smile at each new day. It wasn't that he wished for death - he was just not much of a morning person. Waking up to find no less than three of his fellow villagers killed did not do anything to better his morning mood. If he had been grumpy at the rise of sun before, he was now scowling at it. "Survivor protect us. They got Fnord too?!" Ever since the events of Tyrian Falls, Aether and Fnord had grown close. Both of their cousins, Claincy for Fnord and Aether's own namesake on his side, had somehow gotten mad and brought on the destruction of the entire city and its population. With Fnord's death, he had now lost the only one who could ever identify with the overwhelming sense of loss and betrayal. No list, no matter of exquisitely complicated and masterly written, could ever compensate for this. Still, the Priest of the Survivor opened his writing satchel and took out his feather-pen and sheet of paper and started scribbling: "Butcher's Bill, Urteau: Modeft, crew leader Weiry, lookout Lord Fnord, stealth expert Lam, street sweeper" Looking at over his list, he added one last thing: "Lord Fnord, stealth expert and close friend"
  11. Woah! That might be one of the coolest t-shirts I've seen in a while - right up there with "I survived Bridge Four and all I got was soup"! You wouldn't happen to sell these? Do you have one for the Elsecallers?
  12. Aether

    Stored Breath

I was under the impression that one could not extract the Breath of another from an object? I too do not have my Warbreaker for verification.
  13. Possible at all, or possible on this particular forum? Other sites, such as the Dragon Age Wiki has different tags for different types of spoilers, but I guess this forum might be using a different type of tool-set.
  14. I honestly wouldn't but too much emphasis on that articular character. Kal was at the time noticing how demoralized the Bridgemen were, and I feel like that one was just particularly despondent.
  15. Oh! I intended to write that. It somehow got lost between some copy-pasting. But thanks!=)
  16. Some parts might be the same. Brandon recycles a lot, even when starting more or less from scratch, like he did with the Way of Kings. He has stated, though, that he specifically will not release his first attempt at writing the Way of Kings (as he has done for Mistborn) because it contains heavy spoilers for the first five-book arc of the Stormlight Archive. The teaser chapter with Szeth, though, was fine to release because both Szeth and "Prime Taravangian" have gone through major changes since then. Neither character is really the same one in this early version.
  17. Woah! You just blew my mind! That would be awesome!
  18. I am not familiar with probability theory. I do agree that the absence of evidence for something implies absence of something, but I still wouldn't count this as "evidence" for anything. And even conceding the implications of probability theory, I am not sure this is entirely relevant for whether or not Elhokar is Surgebinding. The book is not written in a vacuum, and this particular author is infamous for his prevalent and subtle foreshadowing. We have no firm evidence that he is in fact surgebinding, nor that he has an Honourblade, but there are indications - some would say strong - that he is in fact capable of it, whether he has an Honourblade or not.
  19. There are a lot of misconceptions going on here. Just as a rule of thumb, "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". The fact that Darnam has never seen a Rhinoceros is by no means evidence (however slightly) evidence against its existence. "There are Unicorns" is not a true statement based on the fact that no one has ever seen one. In fact, that statement cannot be proven, as one cannot prove a negative. Just as one cannot disprove Unicorns, you cannot disprove that Elhokar can surgebind. There might be clear indications to suggest the contrary, but it cannot be disproven.
  20. Definitely not Juicy Fruit, I think. They tend do be prefered in colder areas. Hotter areas usually prefer the spicy flavoured gum. Maybe Dr. Pepper chewing gum?
  21. I personally think that the distinction is made between "Radiantblades" and the modern and corrupted Radiantblades. But for all we know, there might just be that Shardblades are made to combat different types of creatures, and that our third type is of another kind than the most common ones. There are several Blades that are described as notably different than other Blades, amongst them Oathbringer and Elhokar's blade (not assuming the latter is an Honourblade).
  22. Tanavast speaks of them (plural) as being lost, and as far as we know, Cultivation is still around. So I Would say no. They are likely to be of those Shards, though.
  23. Or a huge spoiler for one of the later books, such as for Mistborn: the Hero of Ages:
  24. I concede the point. Up-vote for the catch! Also, the Alethi are all a bunch of show-offs, letting their king have several sets of shards.
