  1. He does not take specific measurements, though. It is still possible that Nahel Sprens wouldn't be locked in any particular Quantum State by measuring them, but I do not think Shallan's notes would qualify as that anyway.
  2. I didn't really get this impression from Eshonai's Interlude. It seems more like they had claimed the Tower out of convenience and defensibility than to protect it. The Alethi is more or less completely oblivious to the true nature of the Shattered Plains at this point anyway, so I am not sure it is even necessary.
  3. I'd like to know more, but right now he seems more like a misguided but well intended fool than a bloodthirsty and hateful sociopath.
  4. Read Syl's discussion with Kaladin again. She specifically said that the Stormfather forbade the Honourspren from returning to the Physical Realm. And Jezrien being a blabbering and drooling fool fits with the idea of him passing his consciousness over to the Cognitive Realm.
  5. So technically, if someone on Roshar was to learn about Hemalurgy, that person too would be a Metalborn?
  6. I like this idea a lot, but remember that they weren't really native to the Shattered Plains. They hunted there from time to time, but it was only after the Alethi launched their offence against them that they moved their civilization to the Plains.
  7. That Stormfather is Jezrien's conscience has been suggested before, and I feel it fits well in with the new information. Consider this quote: The way Darkness speaks about Yazir (presumed to be the Azish name of Jezrien) makes it seem like he knows him personally and is aware of his current mental state. If Jezrien really is a drooling fool right now, then maybe this could be because he has given up his consciousness to the Cognitive Realm, to take on the mantle of "Stormfather"? The way he forbids Spren to bond with humans again also fits with Darkness mission of rooting out and killing off all new Surgebinders.
  8. Actually, at the moment the change happened, the smoke would be highly compressed and actually have the same density of the rock it was Soulcast from. But because smoke is naturally a lot less dense, it then exploded outwards in a burst of high-speed wind until it reached a stable density.
  9. He seems to imply that he sees several of them, just as Shallan did in the beginning. This would imply that he has not yet "officially" bonded one of them, and one of them has then yet to cross over to the Physical Realm.
  10. I know you do not like spoilers, Darnam, but the ban on discussing unpublished works does not include released samples, as Morsk suggested. It is more aimed at White Sand and Aether of the Night.
  11. I wouldn't say he is unable to make himself invisible, but it seems like Pattern's "visibility" is the default, just as "invisibility" is Syl's. Consider this quote from Wyndle: I thought these differences applied mostly to Spren in general, but it seems like there is more diversity between Nahel Spren than I originally thought.
  12. Given the new Shallan chapter, it seems that there is a fourth option: There are inherent differences to the different type of Nahel Spren. Syl is invisible to most people unless she wants to be seen, Wyndle the same, but Cryptics (given how Pattern behaves) seem to be visible to everyone, even non-surgebinders.
  13. I am not entirely sure what you mean by this, but if you mean to say that the two groups were made up of Radiants bonded to Spren aligned more with honour than Cultivation, then I believe you to be in the wrong. While we know that Windrunners bond Honourspren, we have no information on what type of Spren the Stonewards bonded.
  14. Well, I guess your guess is as good as mine at this point. I will be looking forward to a clarification from Brandon, though. We all seem to be using these three terms (Soul, Spiritweb and Innate Investiture) more or less interchangeably at times, and it can get quite a bit confusing.
  15. One of your other posts did actually inspire me to take a look at Mystery Science Theater 3000, which I found more or less hilarious but way too long. This slightly newer version seems promising, though. I like the Wizard of Oz preview!
  16. I am very fond of you too, Darnam
  17. The full commentary can be found here, but I've copied the relevant passage: . EDIT: I have to admit that I am rather impressed at how technical and meticulous Brandon tends to be.
  18. Now that I think of it, Innate Investiture might make up a part of it, but I think Spiritweb is the name for a person's soul and its connections to other people and objects, therefore -web. But I do not feel like we have at this point enough information on this to make any more than guesses. You're right, they might be the same or at least overlap in some way.
  19. The what from the what, now?
  20. My sister forced me. I wasn't allowed to criticize or mock the series without having read it myself. She didn't like too much that I then did so and proceeded to produce even more precise and pertinent mockery. In retrospect, though, I do not really think it was worth it. But thank you for your sympathy. It helps. Somewhat.
  21. I would assume that Harmony moved it back to the geographical North, though, considering that he tried to remake Scadrial as close as possible to its pre-Lord Ruler state.
  22. We have it in WoB that it is the Soul itself that is severed. The Spiritweb might be another word for this, or maybe it is a part of the soul, but I doubt it could be classified as "innate investiture" under any definition.
  23. While we all love up-votes, I am not sure all the up-votes in the world would make me read that series... Even considering that I actually read the Twilight-saga!
