One might not question it in the same way, but there would still be a lot of screaming. I think a proper rap-battle should be able square things up. At the very least let them join in on Shallan and Wit's battle of wit.

You just made me look into the etymology of the word "shag". I find it entirely amusing the original Old Norse word "skegg", which in my own modern Norwegian still means "beard", has become British slang for "intercourse".

I must admit I slightly hate you for this, and was tempted to down-vote you because of it. Instead, I gave you an up-vote, even if only to keep me from changing my mind later.

Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
Aether replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
No! 'Twas so much better the way it was! Oh, well, at least it will live on in our pre-spelling-correction quoting. And yes, I frewuently spell things wrong because I hit the wrong button too. EDIT: You might not believe this, but that spelling mistake was entirely unintentional! Hilarious though if you do believe me. -
What I think? I think this would be an extremely cool game. I give it my highest possible rating of "would shag"! EDIT: I just realised that I am continuing my trend of extremely over-tired and dim-witted humour, so I beg forgiveness for this possibly quite improper joke.

I somehow managed to read bartbugs post as the first post of this Thread and was answering to that one without having read any of the previous posts. Now that I've noticed and read them, I must admit that your thoughts make me see the film in an entirely new light. I shall try to see it again this week-end to give it a second chance. I'll get back to you on my thoughts then.

I've ended up staying up WAY too late, and in my tired and dim-witted mind, I found that to be absolutely hilarious.

As a small addendum, I think it would be cool to give a Kandra player access to both Tineye and Thug like powers (and maybe also a power equivalent of the Blessing of Presence (immunity to Spikings in a Game 2 type of game?)). This could be seen as slightly overpowered, but I think the weakness of being susceptible to a Rioter or Soother's mind-control would balance this out.

This small spelling mistake got me to imagine a really funny scene with a high Shallan. "You mean to say that some lies can be true? Like, WOAH!" +1 -
Possible Reason for the Knights Radiants Betrayal
Aether replied to Duskshard's topic in Stormlight Archive
Lol, this sounds suspiciously like the plot of Mass Effect too. Maybe the Voidbringers are really just Wraiths or Reapers from the edge of the Cosmere?- 16 replies

I am not sure this is entirely correct. I got the impression from the Interlude that they did this, not because the Mateform itself causes a desire for seclusion, but because other Listeners desire for them to be secluded from the rest. As you might have noticed, the Listeners in Mateform from the chapter seemed quite happy to be running around; it was Eshonai who found it entirely improper.

I enjoyed it, but I found the resolution, as well as , to be rather cheap. But yeah, Tangled is just far superior. It might be Disney's most aesthetically beautiful film as of yet, though.

Just to provide further elaboration on the matter (though honestly mostly just as an excuse to make another List), the eight known Shardworlds are: Sel, the planet of Elantris and the Emperor's Soul. Shards: the shattered Devotion and Dominion Scadrial, the planet of the Mistborn trilogies and the Alloy of Law series. Shards: Previously Preservation and Ruin, now Harmony. Nalthis, the planet of Warbreaker. Shard: Endowment. Roshar, the planet of the Stormlight Archive series. Shards: Cultivation and the shattered Honour. Braise, the home planet of Odium in also located in the Greater Roshar System. Shard: Odium (duh!) Ashyn, a planet in the Greater Roshar Solar System and the planet of the unpublished Silence Divine. No Shard1. Taldain, the planet of the unpublished White Sand trilogy. Shard(s): the unknown shard of Bavadin. It has been confirmed that this is the only Shard2 there. Yolen, the (presumed) origin planet of Adonalsium and humanity itself, and the place of the unpublished Dragonsteel and the Liar of Partinel. (Current) Shard(s): unknown. Lesser Shardworlds: Threnody3, the planet of Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Hell. Shard(s): No Shards4, though perhaps a powerful splinter or something to the effect. First of the Sun5, the planet of the unpublished short-story Sixth of the Dusk. Shard(s): Unknown, but likely just a splinter. EDIT: For fun, I've added this List to my signature and will be updating it as more information is revealed/discovered.

Kandra: would have similar (but maybe slightly modified) abilities to Thugs and Tineyes, but with the fun factor that a Rioter and Soother can take control of his or her vote if they use their ability on a Kandra. They would still have to sacrifice their own vote to do this, but this would have the added benefit of forcing the Kandra itself, in-game to vote as the Rioter or Soother wants, instead of just suppressing or changing the vote behind the scenes. RP-wise, they should be able to take over the use of their role as well, at least in the case of a Tineye-like ability, but I think that would be a bit over-power.

I am not sure this statement is correct. While many would not call most politicians "respected", isn't it exactly this kind of "extreme utilitarianism" that was used (and is still used) to defend America's use of torture? Also, I am quite confident that there are many "ethical and legal scholars" e. g. College and University professors that do subscribe to some of the traditional utilitarians' philosophies.

I am very familiar with the Outland store, so i shall contact them and ask if they would be willing to invite him again.

There are signs that suggest Kaladin might have already been surgebinding at this point, but they are very subtle and might in the end just be the effect of the imagination of a panicked young boy. Even if he was actually Surgebinding, I find entirely ridiculous that Amaram should have been able to notice these the small signs of it in the chaos and heat of the battle - even if he was aware that Surgebinding was returning, which I find extremely unlikely in the first place. I wasn't really making the argument that he should be judged on his own justification for what he did, but that it should be viewed in the context of the SA universe, not as a book written by an author we might believe unwilling to kill of the entire population of Roshar. If Amaram knew that the Everstorm was approaching, and it seems likely that all of humanity (on Roshar) would be slaughtered if necessary steps were not taken, then that is the basis on which we should view and judge his actions. I am not, however, (currently) claiming that what he did was justified, but that I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until we learn more about his motivation and future plans.

It was really just a very lucky shot last time that we got the Tineye so early. We only selected 213 (Dr. Digits) because he was the only one (at the time we finally decided on a target) who hadn't checked in. We thought it would be a nice gesture to avoid killing anyone of the more active players, as we would have been extremely annoyed ourselves to have been killed off so early after having already invested quite a bit of time in the game.

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Aether replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
While only a Shardlet, and not a full Shard, his attic should still be sufficiently invested to keep them from cutting into the floor. Honour or Cultivation's attic would protect them in a similar way, but considering Honour's untimely demise, I am glad they agreed to keep them in a neutral space - away from Odium's reach.- 128 replies

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Aether replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am not entirely certain that it would have to be invested for that specific purpose at all. As long as it is invested strongly enough, even if it's entire "purpose" is just to sing beautifully when prompted, or something, it should still provide resistance to a Shardblade. In my understanding, it is the amount of investiture that makes the difference, not the direct purpose of the investment (though a invested object made specifically for this might prove more effective at it).- 128 replies

I had forgotten about this particular rule. As long as we (hopefully) still have a Lurcher to protect him, I do not really see how he could. This also have the added benefit of clearing you, Kurk, as I was slightly starting to suspect you of trying to talk up Peng, only to then convert him to your side. This would have been a brilliant strategy if you had been the inquisitor. And since I consider it to be too much of a risk for an Inquisitor to do what Peng is doing, I find it incredibly likely that he really is the Mistborn, and not an extremely aggressive (and risk-taking) enemy player. I'll be PMing him my role now.

I agree that it is likely that civilization will prevail, but this is a prediction is made from our perspective, knowing that authors, at the very least not anyone with Brandon's type of style, does not tend to let everything go to shits. Amaram, on the other hand, would not be privy to this information, as he is part of the fiction itself. I believe all assessments of the validity of his moral reasoning should be done in universe, as anything else would be to judge Amaram's choice out-of-context.

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Aether replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
We have a WoB somewhere that invested objects are more resistant to the different types of investiture. Presumably, this is the main reason Shardplate protects against it. Thus, hypothetically, an (strongly) Awakened sheath could be immune to a Shardblade's searing. EDIT: I think there are other WoBs that might more directly support my suggested hypothesis, but this one should give a general idea of what I'm talking about:- 128 replies

I didn't really try to imply that we had fooled everyone, only that it worked. I'd also prefer if we could keep all references to the previous game out-of-character (id est in blue). I do not mind references to it, but it should be said that it doesn't directly have anything to do with this game, apart from the few RP tie-ins some of us do. As Lem was killed by Coinshooting abilities, and it would be entirely unlikely that Peng would have guessed who would be killed by that ability, I do not see any way the Inquisitor could have anything to do with it at all. I'd be happy to reveal to him by role (if any) as long as we can get at least one separate confirmation of his announced target. EDIT: I see now that bartbug has confirmed that Peng announced his target. I'll send him a PM with my role. We should keep our conversations separate, though, so that the Inquisitor cannot easily gain information about everyone by infiltrating the group. EDIT 2: @Meta: can the Inquisitor convert a Lurched target? If so, I might change my mind about coming forth to Peng, as he is incredibly vulnerable to being Spiked now, as he'd be an obvious target since he would quickly be privy to at least some of our roles.
