The List is glorious. Glorious, I tell Ye! As self-proclaimed List-master of the forum, I must say I am both impressed and proud of you, my friend. Also, currently at 902 and still a Full Feruchemist.

Lopen has an honorblade(spoilers)
Aether replied to Matrim Bloody Cauthon's topic in Stormlight Archive
It should be said that Lopen is probably getting his ability to draw Stormlight from Kaladin. KR have the ability to bond/make/form squires, which gives people close to them the ability to draw upon and use Stormlight. The extent of this ability is as of yet unknown, but it is said that Windrunners apparently bonded more and stronger squires than other KRs. Check out this Thread for all (I think) relevant WoBs and passages from WoR as well as my speculations. -
I wonder how much of things like this Brandon has actually thought of. There are several Threads on the subject of gaming the different magic systems, and it seems to me that he cannot possibly have thought of an answer to every scenario. Either that, or some of the systems will be ridiculously over-powered later in the Cosmere series.

I might have forgotten to say so earlier, but I can confirm that 860 is the lowest boundary for Full Shardbearer. EDIT: I am currently at 899 and still a Full Feruchemist. One more vote, and I'll be able to confirm the Worldbringer boundary.

I find it somewhat hilarious that Stick just became an Awakened Object.

This has been answered before. I'll see if I can't find the WoB. EDIT: It doesn't seem to be on theoryland. I'll let the more WoB savvy Sharders search for it instead, but the WoB basically says that yes, they could have children and that the combination of the magic systems would produce some "interesting effects" or something like that. He didn't want to give up any specific information on it.

Woah! I never claimed Renarin was useless, just that his actions in that very last scene was rather... unhelpful. I wouldn't really have noticed how cool Renarin really is (and how subtle his portrayal and character arc is) if it wasn't for your numerous and lengthy essays on it, Feather, so thank you for that! But as you point out yourself, we are going to have to disagree on this last point. No matter how wonderful and (somewhat surprisingly, given how subtle it is) strong Renarin really is, his breakdown during the arrival of the Everstorm really did make matters worse. Also, I'm not sure I agree that Shallan has lost her empathy to some extent. She really went above and beyond for Gaz & Co., she went out of her way to ensure that the girl she impersonated at Amaram's mansion didn't suffer any consequences, and she was devastated by the death of her coach-man after one her Ghostbloods meetings, even though she acknowledged that there was little that could have been done differently. She might be becoming more and more like Jasnah in many ways, but it looks like she will be clinging on to her compassion for at least a little while longer.

Those numbers are probably exaggerated though. Remember that the Orders differed in size, and that some of them didn't have shards at all. But even that taken into account, and considering that many shards have probably been lost and hidden over the years, there still seems to be WAY too few that are known. I suspect that there has been a conscious effort to hide most of them away, just as has already been proposed.

I am rather frightened of contradicting Feather too much, lest she unleashes the Feathertips and -blades upon us, but I'll have to agree with shawnhargreaves here. Had I been in her shoes, I'd probably have told someone to gag him as well. Knowing who and what Renarin is, it's not hard to understand why he panicked as he did, but since most of the people present did not, he was only sowing chaos and panic by freaking out as he did. I doubt Shallan wasn't trying to be mean, but I understand why she needed him to calm down. I agree that she does owe him an apology, but I honestly would not hold it against her if she didn't. Her reaction to Renarin was just as understandable as his actions were.

Hoid is somehow banned from harming people?
Aether replied to shawnhargreaves's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He almost never killed anyone. But I get your point. -
"France and Germany, after having been apart for so long, threw themselves at each-other with a furious passion not seen since Sparta fought Troy" EDIT: @ketek, you seem pretty internet savvy for a 100-year-old. You're title as Shipfather just got really creepy, though.

I think a lot of these ranks are really innovative and fun, but there seems to be a dead-zone between Svrakiss and Sentient Awakened Object. Worldbringer is kinda cool, I guess? And while (Full) Shardbearer is powerfull, 'tis rather bland. I am REALLY looking forward to Scadrian Waffle Cook and Tarachin Superstar, though.

I interpreted that as her really just grasping at straws. At this point in the series, she is still in the process of discovering who she is/wants to be, and she seems to be really unsure of what she wants in a man. The whole love triangle isn't as much "oh, I can't decide who I love the most" as "I can't decide what I want in life", which is a huge difference. Kind of. Well, not really. An important nuance, though, which makes it more interesting. And even if it doesn't, it's still a better love story than Twilight.

I laughed harder at this than I should have...

I found Egwene annoying in the books before the Gathering Storm. Her political battles there and the pay-off was some of my favourite parts of the entire series.

It should also be noted that Spren were a lot less prolific back then. I am not sure most fabrials would even be possible to make in Roshar of yore, as they lacked the necessary Spren to do it. I personally think that the fabrial seen in the "Starfalls" vision, and the one used by Nale towards the end of WoR is not the same as modern fabrials. Come to think of it, I'm not sure they have ever been describes as "fabrials" at all in the text.

Or maybe Hoid is Batman! -
No, he sends you a word document.

I really doubt Khriss is Shalash/Baxil's mistress. If she really is the author of the Ars Arcanum - as has been heavily implied - then i do not see her running around on Roshar destroying art and whatnot.

MOAHR!!!!

It seems like everyone here has written this off as "solved", but have we really? We've found the inspiration behind the shape of the continent, but it hasn't really told us anything about "the history of Roshar", as per the WoB:

I actually like the way the Shallan/Adolin/Kaladin dynamic is developing. I think Feather makes a lot of good points about what makes a love triangle work/not work, but I don't think it is applicable in this case, as I think the current dynamic will not last for the following reasons: As elcee8 pointed out, Kaladin is the only one of the three who really seems to be developing any true feelings here. But even that seems currently more like a crush than anything else. She is currently the only available and accessible female character he knows, and she reminds him somewhat of his mother. He might lose interest if he is ever introduced to another strong female character for any longer period of time (book?) than a passing chapter (looking at you, Jenet) Shallan is by the end of Words of Radiance still in the process of finding herself, and while she is physically attracted to Adolin, she recognizes that their relationship is (at least currently) rather shallow. She seems to prefer the challenge of Kaladin's wit and intensity, but she isn't physically or emotionally attracted to him. As it was with Kabsal, she seems to be attracted to/in love with the idea of being in a relationship with either of them more than she is with the actual characters. Adolin seems to be very much physically attracted to Shallan, and she finds her to be of a refreshingly different temperament than the girls/women he is used to. But I doubt he has developed any deep seated feelings for her at this point. He seems to be more in awe of her at this point than anything else. I like how the current triangle is put up. As opposed to the badly written, chaotic mess that is the love triangle that makes up the whole Twilight-saga - where everyone is completely in love with and devoted to everyone else - Shallan/Adolin is light-hearted and currently more exploratory that anything else, and Shallan/Kaladin seems to be made up of mutual intellectual curiosity and quite possibly unrequited love on Kaladin's behalf. Adolin/Kaladin seemed to be developing into an unrequited bromance for a while, but Kaladin gained a measure of respect for Adolin towards the end of the book. In any of the aforementioned instances, I do not think any romantic involvement (at least not in their current incarnation) will survive the next book.

Theory on Unlocking the Other Oathgates.
Aether replied to earthboundsyndicate's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, maybe not lightly scratched, but couldn't Shardplate yield the same resistance if you tried to just cut it slightly? Again, not saying it isn't impervious, but that excerpt is rather non-conclusive.
