Dude, I gave you a perfectly good excuse!

I think he meant that it was a great name

I thought I already did? EDIT: Oh, never-mind. Just had to refresh the page.

[Theory] It has been foreshadowed that Adolin will be a Radiant.
Aether replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am, as I have stated several times before, in full support of this shipping. Jasnah would likely find in Kaladin many admirable qualities that she thinks are missing in most other men (and women, though she's more antagonistic towards men). Kaladin is honourable (or at least tries to be), he is resourceful to the point of making the impossible happen (Bridge Four), he isn't exactly an academic, but knows surprisingly much about medicine, and he is otherwise intelligent, innovative and is able to hold his own against the wit of Shallan. He is also said to be handsome, if a bit ruggedly so. At the very least, she would find him intriguing. -
Hoid has his own motives and goals. Khriss is a scholar with an insatiable thirst for science and knowledge. I don't find it hard to believe that she would be more knowledgeable, as she would probably seek out and study the different worlds and their Investiture more actively than Hoid would. Hoid knows a lot, true, but I it seems that that is more because he's just been around for a long time (as well as showing up for the most important events) more than anything else.

“I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right.”

I might have... understated... his incompetence and petulance. You're completely right that he is spoiled and jealous to the point of harming others, but I think his drunken confession and growing respect for Kaladin might finally lead him down a better path. Or at least that is what I'm hoping for. I have, as many on this forum do, a soft spot for the Kholins. Even Elhokar. -
The Brigade seems reluctant to move. Either that, or they did move, but the down-vote brigade beat them. EDIT: On an unrelated note, you change your User Avatar often, Porridge. 'Tis confusing! (though I like your current one)

It should also be said that there isn't a single bad bone in Elhokar. He really tries his best to do good, but he is frequently misguided, ends up making mistakes by trying to be strong, etc. He wants to be a good king, has recently acquired enough insight to know that he is not and is now actively trying to find someone who can teach him (as opposed to just do things for him as Dalinar does). The scene where he seeks help from Kaladin was one of my favourites. While Elhokar has wrought quite a bit of chaos and misery through his incompetence, he has not done so intentionally. And now that he has realised this, he is trying to get better. For a Windrunner, this makes all the difference in the world. -
Ok, time to make a List of possible reasons for these discrepancies: Accessing Shadesmar directly (without going through a portal, or something) allows for easy local travel, but not necessarily Worldhopping. Accessing Shadesmar directly makes him easier to track (in the epilogue of tWoR, he mentions that a certain person "caused quite the stir amongst the Highspren" or something, though that might have been for other reasons). Accessing Shadesmar directly might be costly in some way, either using up physical resources or spiritual ones. Passing through a Shardpool has some other benefit.

I shall always have an up-vote to spare for a good List. -

This made me laugh. Hard. And then I fell of my chair. -
I had a life. Then Brandon.
-
Permit me to jump in with this little tidbit: According to this, Hoid would be able to access Shadesmar (and thus Worldhop), without using the Shardpools as gateways.

"I was born, then I died." I'm not entirely sure I understood the game, but anyway...

Take a look at the Squire related List thing in my signature for all the information I've been able to find on it. (Having some trouble with my browser, and I can't seem to access the Thread myself)
-
There are currently thousands of people in Urithiru. It would not be obvious at all that Adolin did it.
-
Fair enough. I guess I've just latched on to what I reckon to be the "obvious" answer. Which, knowing Brandon, isn't really safe to do.

Well, they do have "licence to kill", which is kind of cool, I guess.

I am surprised that Silent Gatherer is this high. Sure, it is an important role in the books themselves, but who wants to be associated with their murderous activities? Wouldn't it be more fit for the negative reputation ranks?

Eshonai did, which was how Adolin was able to lead her towards the edge of the chasm without her noticing. -
The plural might refer to the Heralds, who are seen as gods some places in Roshar. I do not see why the Parshendi gods (as it seems that this is how you interpret it) would lie about the end of Desolations.
-
Also, the book clearly says that the Everstorm is something "new, but of old design", implying that it has never been used before. Jasnah is rather frustrated that all her knowledge from the past might prove useless.
-
It should be said that it is by no means clear that Endowment actually is bringing people back from the dead. It has been suggested that he/she is merely sticking splinters into their corpses, making a new lifeform rather than reviving the old one.

Wait, what? Where is it said that his wife was unfaithful to him?
