  1. This made me think on saving up storm light, and I put that together with that single pane of glass in Urithiu and I am starting to think it is somehow a giant stormlight collector.
  2. I originally thought it must be an historical book, but now I am leaning towards the author being Jasnah. I think the preface might be like the underscript mentioned, that it is specifically for the women reading, but not to be read aloud.
  3. I would think that the Heralds and Oathpact are after Odium arrives not before? The Stormfather betrays the Listeners - I assume after Honor takes over or after Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow merges with the Stormfather
  4. With what we learn of her from The Thrill I wonder if she finally saw the Beast she talks about and maybe refuses to be rescued?
  5. I agree they may be heading somewhere, or maybe just pulled along with the everstorm. I think the Parshmen turned stormform will be much like Eshonai talks about, the Listeners who were basically fodder and were there just to sing. She mentions how turning all the Listeners into stormform did not make them soldiers or teach them to fight.
  6. Shallan - If this is just couldn't see reasons to just add in dialogue from every character and not focus on Dalinar then: My theory here is that she has slipped some into her timid self. She has finally faced her lies and repressed memories. Much of her happy open self was an act, part of her lie to herself. I agree that though still a bit bitter that Ehlokars statements were mature and not as selfish as he was portrayed in the past. Without Sadeas looks like Dalinars trouble will be coming from Vorinism - I expect Amaram and the sons of honor to side with the church on this. Kadash I think though he will have more of a role, will mostly be as a reminder of Dalanars past. I am not discounting Ialai but her ways are those of spies and assasins. I think she will be a problem, but not in the same way. Kaladin.... I think we are seeing the growth and acceptance finally. He knows the rain makes him gloomy but is being rational about it. He accepts his parents comfort, and also does not just bash through their joy or plans of him coming home like a lost child. Punching Roshone is brilliant, old Kal would have thought of killing him or made himself sick in in-decision and hate. Radiant Kal was decisive, and though he wont kill Roshone and would protect him from voidbringers, he does not have to like him or listen to his insults. I saw the punch as more retribution for Roshones acts against Moash's grandparents than revenge for all that went wrong in Kaladins life. The pacing does seem different, probably because it is 3rd book in a 5 book arc, it appears that we are rushing through the little details. Sadeus killed? oh well move on more important things to worry about. Actually i do see that by naming Aladar Highprince of Information Dalinar might finally be delegating things. Dalinar needs to get married - done As many have commented both ways, White wedding dresses are a western tradition, and really only a relatively recent one. Bridge 4 - they glow can't really just be bodygaurds. Missing Bridge 4 ! with Kaladin gone I am really hoping we get a few Bridge 4 POV's. On another note, I will never understand how some people can read like this on a regular basis, a few chapters at a time is painful!
  7. Ups for this, I totally agree. Seconded (well, thirded) so much. It's the most self-aware he's ever been Upvoted - Agree! 4thed I guess
  8. I might be misunderstanding, trying to figure where double the numbers adds up. Yes a portion we're remnants, but Dalinar has only 6000 after tower battle, for the scouting mission, with 2653 returning from tower battle that means that between recruitment and what he had left in camp is only about 3500 ? So I am not sure where double the numbers are, even if 3000 were left in camp with original 8000 that's 11000.
  9. I was not counting any left in Kholinar. I was considering the current active army on the plains. Even if he left half his army behind - unlikely, and most would be The Standing armies of the brightlords, - Like Amarams in the thousands each. Dalinar rode Gallant at the head of two thousand six hundred and fifty-three men. That was all that remained of his assault force of eight thousand. My guess is that there we a couple battalions of 1000 left in camp or on patrol during the tower run or his numbers for scouting mission would be higher. Scouting Mission: Dalinar brought three thousand about half of his current army after recruitment. That Leaves a force of 6000 for final Battle

  11. No, you are not the only one - this should have been a Bridge 4 reveal with if not Kaladin since he is gone then another Bridge 4 POV. Its too accepted - Gee being a squire and stormlight grew a new arm! this needed more!
  12. This! Thank you for articulating this so well. It can be applied to the Radiants, the shards, the Heralds, Taravangian, and so many other issues seen on Roshar, (or the Cosmere).
  13. Yes it could be 2nd degree murder but with the provocation and threats it could be Voluntary manslaughter.
  14. Was what Adolin did murder? Adolin believes it was murder so that is what it will be. But I do think It depends on what the definition of murder is in Alethi. Laws in Alethi for the highprinces has been might makes right. This was not a premeditated assassination. Where Moash and Graves was premeditated planned murder. Fights and duels are the way the Alethi defend their honor and reputation. It has been noted several times what reactions and actions can be taken when someone insults another or ones house. If it had been witnessed then what Sadeas threatened and said it would be perfectly acceptable for Adolin to have summoned his blade and demanded a duel. Yes Adolin attacked physically first, after Sadeas attacked verbally first, but it was a fight where one of the combatants was killed, not an assassination, or a premeditated murder. Even by modern standards this could be manslaughter not murder.
  15. I think it is more location and timing. The armies were in Urithiu, word went out for them to evacuate, Lopen starts regrowing his arm. Kaladin was still fighting Szeth we know Szeth fell into the Storm lands. then Kaladin heads back and meet up with Bridge 4. so warcamps to shattered plains is in range, but Alethkar to Urithiu is not. Lopen also arrives before Kaladin leaves, another chance to finish regrowth.
  16. Sorry I did not mean to post so soon. Work got busy I was going to add more on agreeing that the third bondsmith could be of adonalism and the remaining Dawnsinger. I wonder if the other vision of Dalinars remembering that the feeling of warmth and happiness, is related to the 10th Dawnsinger? WoB that states that the unmade are splinters of Odium, I don't see this as a conflict, Odium was of Adonalism too. So was the Stormfather and is now of Honor.
  17. True, I was thinking with that curved halls without straight corners would work better.
  18. Since we know the Stormfather and My thought is that the Stormfather and probably Nightwatcher were spren of Adonalism, before the shattering, and then migrated to Hohor and cultivation. I have always thought the dawnsingers were of Adonalism and were unmade with his shattering, and then became splinters of Odium.
  19. Or the Tunnels are designed for Radiants ... for Edgedancers and Dustbringers to slide along, Windrunners and Skybreakers to fall down ....
  20. That was what my count was, which is why the number confused me, and I wonder if some of the Highprinces just brought their armies and not the full warcamps? Actual Quote:
  21. Something I noticed. In the Adolin pov he mentions We know that Sebarial's, Dalinars camps evacuated. We know that Sadeas arrived, so did Sadeas just bring his army and lighteyes and leave the camp people behind? Or did Roions or Aladars camps not evacuate? later Dalinar mentions specifically that Thanadal and Vamah stayed.
  22. Thanks for the update - that will hit in the middle of my commute... ah well lunch time reading.
  23. Chapters 1-3 are so large its taking longer to load the pages this time
  24. On the numbers, I think the Alethi princes have numbers closer to 10 thousand. Dalinar was able to mobilize 8 thousand for tower run. Afterwards on the scouting mission it mentions Dalinar brought three thousand about half of his current army after recruitment. This points to him only having had around 10000 beforehand. As for historical army size usually limeted the most by ease of travel, and resources, What is aggravating is when fantasy books do not build into world a way to support the size of the army. Soulcasters, and the terrain make a difference. Where European medeival army's were more in the low thousands, with mostly. Conscripts or pulling from the populace, Romans with a standing military, sea support , larger empire, and roads could support larger armies. ASoFI is based on the war of roses, but is one where if Westeros armys are 100000 it is an exaturated number If I remember correctly, that war troops ran from 4000 to the highest 20000.
