Adolin Kholin, the uncut gem (WoR spoilers, right?)
FollowYourMuse replied to banestar's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree with the theory that Adolin will resurrect his swords Spen. My hunch for a while has been that Adolin if a Radiant would end up as a Stoneward. Adolin, seems to follow this, there are several times when he has chosen hopeless fights and won. His "Calling" for dueling means he has taken seriously the study of fighting and dueling. -
WoB They are still alive,

I will add my vote to I hate love triangles ... over used overdone and for once I want books without! The little we had of interaction between Kaladin and Shallan was good, it helped Kaladin remember he is human, but a relationship? nah.
-
Yep .... Thanks but now I am more curious

I have one question though who the heck is this Nash guy? I think thee was one reference to him withe the mention of some guy drawing thing in Bridge four camp?

I am assuming this in in part harakeke's fault for cracking the Alethi script so fast.

FollowYourMuse replied to FeatherWriter's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Loved listening to your reactions! I look forward to listening to the rest of them. Made me think that at some point after midnight on the fourth there was a general outcry across the country/ world of No NO NO NO NO !!!! Since my reaction was almost identical- 39 replies

We also have this evidence for Squires (proto-Radiants) from Dalinar vision in WoK This with the other quotes lead me to think that the Squires or trainees gain some abilities along with training. But that to become Radiants will require a spen bonding them. I would think living with and training with a Radiant, could also lead to those under them ending up with similar character traits, and actions, so would be more attractive to spren. Though not always, as Moash's actions point out, no matter what there is no promise or guarantee.

I have had luck doing this for books at Walmart also.

Well this series intrigues me as I have been a reader of Fantasy and Epic Fantasy since I was a kid. I have invested intellectually, mentally, and emotionally in several series over the years, books that require re-reading over and over again between new releases. I started The Wheel of Time the year after it came out, same with A Song of Ice and Fire, I think one of the few I discovered where there were more than the first or second books was The Chronicles of Amber, which I started reading in High School. These books are my "friends", I have known the characters by name and personality longer than most people I know. Some of them I have grown up with, Some were with me while I raised my children, and now I will have The Stormlight Archive that I will grow old with. Edit: to correct Sword of Ice

I agree that it may not be Dalinar as a regent - except that Dalinar is second in line after Ehlokars son. So I am not sure if the Queen would have any power to transfer power away from the Kholin family. Jasnah still has Liss in place I am assuming.

The all-caps suggest either the Stormfather (most likely) Odium or Cultivation. LITTLE TRAITOR - Little does lead us to think this is Syl, Ivory, Pattern or Wyndle I think they have all defied the Spren to bond with humans again. I AM SORRY - makes this more of a warning than a threat. I am tending to lean to this is Syl, and the Stormfather is warning her that HE (Odium, or something ??????) is coming Maybe there is a reason The Stormfather has forbid them to come to the physical realm for their own protection?

I agree with Todesengel and Everjoy on much of what they have said. There are 4 books to go in this arc, and there is much from Jasnah's arc we do no yet know unless we find it all out in WOR I think she will be around for a while yet. I also see her as having a lot of conflict ahead of her, she is so sure of her self and what she believes, and much of it will be shattered or challenged. She is also a great source of knowledgeable mis-information. But I agree that there will be a reason she and Shallan are separated and Shallan needs to go on by herself. Sadeas could go at anytime, he has served his purpose. His wife on the other hand may cause more trouble. I agree also that Amaran is going to be around for a while, he may not make it through WoR but the conflict between him and Kaladin I do not think is going to be solved in a single battle. He is technically Under Saldeas so if he dies Amaram could be the next highlord of that territory. I think Ehlokar it could go either way, if he dies die then Dalinar can be a regent for the young king, but essentially he already has this type of role. I tend to think that we have only started to see Ehlokar's story arc and as a king he has a long way to go. Currently he really is not a threat, but a reason why the Alethi are not as strong as they should be. I agree that we will see more of the Bridge 4 members die. I think there are reasons storywise for Rock, Teft, Sigzil and Lopen to stick around. Rock needs to become a fighter, and maybe get a set of plate and blade for the Unkalaki. Lopen needs to learn how to glow. and Teft needs a mission to find the Envisioners, and overcome his guilt. Sigzil I think too has more to do, and will be essential in the re-building of the KR. There is a reason Hoid trained him, (and a reason maybe that Hoid did not rescue him) Moash is the one Kaladin refers to as more like a friend someone that doesnt look up to him or treat him differently so I think he will be the one to die. I too think Yalb is safe - he will follow Shallan to the Shattered Plains. When the "Storm/Parshendi" hits I think the Kholin army and camp will be more prepared, unlike the other war camps.

Is Syl really the only honorspren on Roshar?
FollowYourMuse replied to Chlehrma's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think so either.... Jasnah states that Pattern is a different Spren, but does not identify what type hers is, only that she has never seen a Cryptic before. -
Ahh ... this one I think is more Cosmere related? a reply to Hoids letter? The gemstone being dead though, I have no idea.. My only ideas are that this refers to either the black sphere that Szeth hid, or whatever it was that Hoid had that he was keeping? though that is referred to as an element, not a gem. really no clue on a dead gemstone.

I Too think Brandon's books and works have continued to improve, I love WoK, but I actually think The Emperor of Souls is the best he has written so far. I understand how the next books in the Stormlight Archive may be shorter, and some of that is because of how well Brandon has improved in writing shorter works. But the bibliophile in me really does hope that they do not get shorter, one of the expectations I now have from this series are the 1000 page Tome's. The size and scope of each book make each one epic in itself. And I do have to justify the new bookcase I bought just for massive books.

Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
FollowYourMuse replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like your soapbox and agree, I am hoping that Dalinar has changed enough that he will see that "his old friend" and this hero is no hero, after all before the shattered plains Dalinar was basically a different person.
