Having seen been an alternate version of yourself could be very very useful in trying to create an essence mark for it. Especially as you will know how you turned out that way which is one of the key aspects for making the mark. (When eventually we do a worldhopping campaign I will be tempted to play a character who does just that now. Or if I'm narrating I'll at least put one in )

Clothes themselves should protect from chromium. Unless I'm vastly mistaken it has to be skin to skin contact to work, same with nicrosil.

Yeah I think I would guess that it would be that pewter was ineffective at dealing with it. For a couple of example ideas: -A thug trying to lift a heavy aluminium object might struggle where if it was brass or another metal they would be fine. -Their enhanced muscle tissue that normally makes them resistant to damage would be useless against an aluminium weapon. Basically more evidence that aluminium is really really really weird. You can keep your Cadmium and Bendalloy Kurk, this is what I want to know about most A note though, I reckon he will RAFO that. I honestly don't think he will answer anything but the most obscure questions about aluminium for now.

I think becoming a Lerasium savant as such is more related to the main effect that can be gained from lerasium not the sDNA modifying side effect. You can still get whatever the real power of lerasium is through multiple burnings. Being a side effect there is no reason that the sDNA rewriting has any need to be additive.

The MAG (I know I know, reliability etc) treats it the way Shardlet is suggesting. I do not know if that is because Brandon told them it worked that way or if they just made it that way for the game. Kadrok and I and a few others had a discussion about this and other lerasium stuff and savants over on the crafty boards a while back. http://www.crafty-games.com/forum/index.php?topic=7467.0 The stunt and advancements related stuff is obviously MAG specific and not relevant but some of the rest is. Personally, while it is somewhat dissapointing, I think that burning any type of lerasium overwrites the allomancy related part of your sDNA, so burning a lerasium-tin alloy after burning full lerasium might be a truly terrible idea. Edit: adjustment to the last thing I said in this post. I think that it is only the case when lerasium is alloyed with a metal that you cannot burn, this would apply to full lerasium turning people into mistborn too.

As I said, MAG is far from a perfect source. In this case however it does line up fairly well with what I think. I just don't see 2-3 spikes not being survivable, to a point, but then, 4 spikes is also only survivable to a point. You would likely be some awfully twisted inbetween thing, by the time you had 3 spikes in for a bit you might not *want* to have much of your intelligence left. I think if you knew where to put the spikes it should be 100% possible to only put 1-3 iron spikes into someone and have them survive as long as, likely longer than normal koloss. We do not, however, have much evidence to prove either way.

The rate of change is something I am very curious to know. I know the MAG is far from perfect as a source, however in this case what it says makes the most sense to me. Basically it says that individual iron spikes enhance muscle mass and size and also effect the recipient's height. Every iron spike also results in a dip in intelligence as well as the normal problems associated with any spike. Multiple spikes simply stack these effects as the recipient gets closer in intelligence, strength and appearance to a kollos. I can't see any reason for 2-3 iron spikes to kill someone while 4 doesn't and I am personally inclined to believe this description to be reasonably accurate.

Actually Darnam, from the coppermind (with its info from the alloy of law ars arcanum.) So duralumin does make people like/dislike you in addition to the awareness aspect. I'm moderately certain it works both ways though, tapping it makes others like you a lot but also gives you an equal degree of empathy with others. (Possible that that last bit is MAG only, but I think it makes sense that way.)

I would guess that their mental acuity might revert, but that the physical changes would remain and very rapidly result in their deaths.

Thanks for the report. I hope your son recovers fast.

Ok so I ran figldegrak, figldigrak and figldgrack through my program (still only using words with a double g so its only looking at a small subset of possibilities.) figldigrak came up with nothing. figldegrak came out with dagger, with filkg left over (if we are being consistent with whether double letters count as 1 or 2) or digger with flakg. fgldgrack also came up with nothing from that subset of words. So almost a possibility there, but not quite. :/ It was worth a try.

I thought the y would still be represented, though not by a y. More likely an i or e depending on how it is pronounced. (Kind of hard to tell that from a written word ).

Thanks for the offer. Here's a couple more: If an augur who was blinded burnt gold, they could have a shadow who had not been blinded, could they then see through that shadow. How long does it take for someone who has had 4 iron spikes put in to become a koloss? How fast are the changes? I want to ask more about aluminium but he would probably just RAFO. Ah what the heck. If a copper clip was coated completely in aluminium (no gaps) could an allomancer still detect and push/pull on the coin? Alternatively: If an allomancer was on one side of a massive aluminium wall and a copper clip was on the other, would they be able to detect/push/pull it?

@FirstSelector, clever idea. Looking at it and going from memory I don't think it would be much different in Alethi. The double g might become one, I'm not certain if that was in alethi or just steel alphabet. I'll take a better look into it tomorrow once I've had some sleep

Sounds to me like there is still something to be learned from it. *whistles* Back to work. Thanks for asking that, *upvote*.

Yup, it's another "Does anyone else play this?" thread. Does anyone else here play Firefall? For anyone who hasn't heard of it but might be interested: Firefall is a very ambitious free to play open world mmo which uses real shooter mechanics. None of the click and watch your character attack stuff =) It has a number of unique concepts which they have implemented to varying degrees (it's in open beta currently). The crafting system is one of the best I have ever seen and the loot drop is also very different to most mmo's. In a normal mmo/rpg you get random items as loot, most of which are completely useless to you. In Firefall the largest part of loot and quest rewards are resources and other crafting components so as a general statement what you get will actually useful regardless of your "class". Speaking of "classes", firefall doesn't use a normal class system. Instead you have different battleframes that you can equip and upgrade separately and that you can switch between at battleframe stations. No need to create a new character to play as a different "class". The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where most of Earth is covered by a strange substance known as the melding, going into the melding will kill you very rapidly. The last humans on Earth are desperately trying to hold onto a small portion of Brazil where the engines from the Arclight (a giant ship that crashed there) hold back the melding. Despite it's post-apocalyptic setting firefall doesn't use the dull browns and greys you expect from such a setting, instead they have used the changes to earth through the story to create a very unique, vibrant and colourful world. One of the most ambitious things about firefall is the chosen warfront. The chosen are a race of, well, common belief is that the ones we see are changed humans. Regardless of what they actually *are* they are trying to wipe out humanity. The humans have watchtowers set up across the map and the chosen can attack these, and will take them over if no players move in to stop them. If the chosen take control of a watchtower they will spawn more chosen there, and the players lose the information from that section of the map, they can still see the terrain but all the extra information is gone. Players can, naturally, take back these watchtowers. The chosen also occasionally launch large scale invasions of major cities. When this happens a warning about the upcoming invasion is broadcast across the shard and the invasion begins 10 minutes after that. Basically the players have to try to hold off the chosen forces until the military can train the Arclight's guns on the attacking forces. If the players fail they lose the city and the melding moves in and covers the whole area, blocking it off from players. After a period of time the melding gets pushed back again and players can attempt to retake the city. There are plans for the players to be able to push back the melding to temporarily or permanently reveal new areas though this is one aspect that is very much a work in progress. There are some places where players can temporarily push back the melding to gain access to an area, but the larger promise of unlocking whole new areas through these mechanics is yet to be fulfilled. Hrm, that went on longer than I expected. Anyway, if that sounds interesting at all I recommend checking it out. To anyone who does play and wants to add me my username is ClaincyFfnord. Edit: If you want a better explanation of the game and what it is trying to do than I gave, I suggest watching extra credits series on it, first video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpBiNHPfjKw

Here's another. If you spike someone with 4 iron spikes to make them a koloss, how quickly do the changes take place? Edit: More detail, I am guessing they would get the strength pretty much instantly, but do they instantly lose a lot of their intelligence and turn blue etc? Or does that some time?

Happens now and then. I've fixed it back to neutral, anyone want to toss an upvote at him to get it to where it should be?

Huh, impressive. That must have taken a lot of work.

Favorite Brandon Sanderson Story
Claincy replied to Bloodfalcon's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Fair enough. Kaladin is the same in stormlight archive. Quite literally, had a war hero reputation, lost it just before the book and built a new one. It helps that it is a sequence of 5 massive books, really allows Brandon to spend the first book laying out the foundations for the characters. Definitely a good thing -
Someone translated Xanth books into another language?! That just seems... kind of pointless really. Books almost based around puns, yeaaaah, you'd need to essentially rewrite the whole thing.

I can think of many worse things to be forced into
-
Welcome to the forum Sevi! Glad to have you here. I believe we have a few other people on the forums who were in the same situation with the translations. RPG's are fun =) Have you ever heard about/played the Mistborn Adventure Game?
-
All of the mistborn ones actually. He didn't "appear" in emporer's soul but he was present and did impact the story. Don't think searching these will yield anything, but it might.
