  1. Unfortunately that's likely to be the case with Conlangs. I'm fine with you joining. We'll see what the OP says as well. @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSprenyou could add "Cartography" to this thread's title.
  2. Nice. Got it. Do you have a map/chart of the system? Yeah, lol. But we gotta do some world building first (well, maybe not, but what's the harm?) P.S. I made some edits to my previous post that you may not have seen yet. If not, please take another look.
  3. I am unfamiliar with "FCRRP." Also, I don't really know what the types of those stars mean. Trinary = three suns correct? A rare night could be an interesting cultural element... Maybe the people there treat it as a special occasion and celebrate it? Or fear it? Like hide in their homes when it comes. Or have a party for the former. Edit: Maybe the night is related to the Investiture? Or it's like the weeping I. That there's and absence of it during the night. Just some ideas.
  4. I'm for an Invested planet, and it would probably be easier to do human(oid)s. Any broad ideas for the planet? For example: Roshar is (almost) all rock, and has the highstorms. Lumar (or whatever Tress's planet was called) has the spore seas.
  5. Ooh, yes. Maybe we could make our own planet, or, say, make a conlang Alethi or something. I think worldbuilding (literally) a planet with culture and stuff would be neat. Also, I'm all for the changing language.
  6. @mippo do you wish to come up with the next character and clues? If not, may I?
  7. I did some work on a conlang before, but I kinda stopped. I'm hoping to continue/make a new one soon. I also like cryptography stuff. I think part of the issue was because I was making my own script (letters/alphabet, not using A-Z), and I changed it a few times and it was kinda hard to memorize. Maybe I'll use latin script (A-Z) next time.
  8. The code could probably be updated to make this automatic/a checkbox like "Update quotes?" I suppose I was thinking of the privacy aspect, since without "nuking" the profile, it still shows their old username in various places.
  9. Well...my Spotify wrapped (essentially your most-listened-to songs, genres, and artists) is all Kaladin by Black Piper - at least the first 20 or so (see image for album cover) I also listened to the whole soundtrack from Your Name for weeks after watching it. My "actual" top songs are probably something like (in no particular order, since I struggle with that sort of thing): 1. Song 2 - Blur 2. Snow (Hey Oh) - Red Hot Chili Peppers (hereinafter "RHCP") 3. Can't Stop - RHCP 4. Dani California - RHCP 5. Californication - RHCP 6. Heart-Shaped Box - Nirvana 7. I'm Still Standing - Elton John 8. Starman - David Bowie 9. Two Princes - Spin Doctors 10. Smooth Criminal - Michael Jackson ... 11. Would? - Alice in Chains (though I didn't listen to it much, I love it) 12. Come Out and Play - The Offspring 13. Dream On - Aerosmith 14. Chicago - Michael Jackson 15. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson 16. Space Oddity - David Bowie ...and so much more In the aforementioned Your Name soundtrack, my two favorites are Sparkle and Nandemonaiya.
  10. 1. I got recommended WoK, but it took me a bit to actually get it and start reading. I think the after finishing WoK, I practically walked out of the bookstore with the rest of SA in my arms, and maybe Mistborn. 2. Like so many others here, I found myself looking up questions (and unfortunately finding some spoilers). I didn't do much active browsing of the forum, but I relied on its internet results a lot. I didn't make an account until like a week ago. 3. One of the main reasons - aside from being involved in a Cosmere community - that I made my account was to post some theories I had been brewing up over the course of days/weeks/months (idk), including making notes on my phone of specific pages/quotes that were of interest.
  11. PHP is great for website development, and Java's for apps I think (though I don't really use it) What's your fave proglang/most-often-used?
  12. console.log("Hello, 17S!"); print("Hello, 17S!") system.out.println("Hello, 17S"); // My Java is Rusty. cout << "Hello, 17S"; <p>Hello, 17S!</p> echo "Hello, 17S!"; // I need to brush up on my PHP a bit /* CSS doesn't really count as a proglang, though it's good to know */ -- How would SQL work lol 01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 <comma> <00100000> <"17"> 01010011 <"!"> I mostly use Python, though I may be using PHP soon...
  13. I didn't use the song (though I've listened to it) and off the top of my head: 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399370582 The last italicized digits I am unsure of. Also, I used to be able to do 200 digits a few years back, but I stopped practicing and what you see above is what stuck with me.
  14. Yes? I've seen her around. Which reminds me, you know how there are those users you just see everywhere, and rarely see anyone else? Even though there are 10s of thousands of users here (I think. Also lots are probably inactive.) could be based on which forums you are active in.
  15. I don't see a post by you here. Edit: or did you make a typo? Such as an "I" instead of an intended "it"?
  16. Mmmm... lies...
  17. Nice job! I can't specifically remember if I've had someone who doesn't give 100s, but I think I knew someone who did. Honestly I don't see the reasoning...
  18. I didn't see these in the index, so: The Lunar Chronicles, a four-book series by Marissa Meyer. I place it as Sci-fi and Romance. The first book is called Cinder. I'm not really the best with summaries, but it's basically set a couple hundred years in the future and the main character is a cyborg. All the books are sort of "retellings" of classic fairy tales (Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White I believe). They share some similarities that are fun when you pick them out. System Divine, a sci-fi and dystopian trilogy by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell. I honestly found TLC to be similar to this, meaning if you like one you may like the other. The first book is called Sky Without Stars. I think it's based on Les Mis, but I haven't seen/read that yet. Basically it's set in a dystopian place that's in a whole different solar system, since people left (Earth?) a while back. It's basically set in a futuristic old France kinda. They have the three estates. Also, (almost) every person has like a computer thing embedded in their arms or something. I haven't read this one in a bit, so I don't remember everything. I think one of the main POV characters was also a cyborg, though it was a little different if I recall. His Dark Materials, which I believe is more well-known (and older) than the other two, is a trilogy (with more books outside it but related) by Philip Pullman. It's fantasy. First book is The Golden Compass. Basically there are different worlds (more dimensions/alternate realities than planets, though it has some similarities to the Cosmere). In the one we start in, it's basically England I guess from like the 1700s or something. But there's magic. Kind off. It's really good. The MC is an orphaned (I think, something like that) girl of maybe 10-12 idk that basically lives with the professors of a university. Armada by Ernest Cline (of Ready Player 1) is a sci-fi book about this guy who basically plays this videogame (I believe it was VR) about fighting aliens in flying vehicles (ship? Planes? Jets?) It turns out, and I can't remember how much of a spoiler this is, that: It also has some pop culture stuff like RP1. It's kinda similar to Ender's Game (I've watched the movie, but haven't read the book.) Edit: looks like you aren't following this thread? So I'll ping you: @Treamayne
  19. I hope this isn't already a topic, but I remember seeing Chaos's topic on only using the pronouns field for pronouns, not member-title-like stuff. So, what about other fields, like location? Do I need a real location/none at all, or can I put something that is obviously not correct. For example, I saw someone who had the location "Kepler 22b," which I find funny. I set mine to "Delta Quadrant," which is a Star Trek reference. Basically, I'm wondering if these examples are appropriate/acceptable. Thanks, - Theory
  20. How'd that research paper go? (I saw a post somewhere where you said you were doing one on Sharders.)
