  1. Aww man. Ohh well. As long as I have a first edition and they don't screw up the artwork I'll be happy I wasn't planning on getting a signed copy to begin with so I was excited when I saw this at the pre-order price point.
  2. Int he same vein that a Shardblade is different from a regular sword I imagine the Shard Spear would be different from a regular spear.. It would be more of a Naginata with a huge blade. This would most likely lend itself to killing thunderclats and the like especially combined with Kaladin's increasing list of abilities.
  3. Now that I've secured a copy I'll post this here. For anyone who is never on Brandon's tour route (like me). Barnes and noble is offering a limited number of pre-orders for signed copies of the hardcover. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/words-of-radiance-sanderson-brandon/1117330276?ean=9780765378279
  4. There is another interesting part in Chapter 34 where Kaladin is strung up to be judged by the Stormfather. I haven't seen any other reference to Wind Spren behaving in this nature, Syl has a plasticity that suggests looking like a wind spren is her preference, not a requirement. This Rothfuss reference made me choke on my coffee. +1
  5. The wording is misleading, I was about halfway thru typing a post that said the same thing before I decided he probably meant it different than it sounds.
  6. I have already changed my resolution. Well, more like altered to make it easier. I've started live blogging my books as I read. Sometimes I just tear thru books without digesting them especially on the first reading when I just want to know what happens next. With this I'll be forcing myself to stop and digest and think about how I feel about what's going on in the books I'm reading. I'm doing Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence right now, it's really fun. I think I might squeeze in one more book I've never read after that then my 100th reread of wok followed by the main event, Words of Radiance! I'm legitimately stoked to be recording my reactions while I read my most anticipated book of the year! I don't imagine anyone will read my posts but I'll have them for posterity. 7. First off, your Necromantic powers are impressive. I think it's still ambiguous as to whether or not the Sunmaker was "good or bad". It seems like the Hierocracy was bad business for sure (or maybe that's just my prejudices making a religion taking over automatically evil). From the way he's reference in the text he seems more like one of those people around which the world revolved in their lifetime (Alexander the Great, Napoleon.. etc.). Could he have been manipulated by Odium, for sure. Was he working WITH Odium, I don't think Odium shares the power. Now he could very well be a fallen Herald or a Nameless. That's totaly potential right there, it would be tough since the Heralds faces are well recorded but who know the full extent of all of their powers?
  8. I kind of asked this on the original post on Tor.com, they said they couldn't pass up the opportunity of having Whelan do extra artwork and because of it they'll have to "make room" not sure what that means. Maybe they'll be included in b&w or maybe extra color pages... Who knows?
  9. I have this issue with Firefox on my work computer and chrome at home. Both work fine with ie but... Still lame
  10. Hello all and Happy New Years Eve! Since this is the last day in a year where we cruelly won't be able to read WoR I started this thread to look to the future. Here's the deal. Below you must post one wish and one resolution regarding the release, content, or way in which you will enjoy WoR in the New year. Enjoy! Wish: It is my sincere wish that Kaladin, Jasnah , and Dalinar can get together and have an honest conversation about what's going on in the world. I really hope this series doesn't perpetuate itself and drive the story based on WOT style secrets and lack of communication. I don't think Kaladin will ever feel warm and fuzzy to lighteyes but at least give up the info buddy! Resolution : I resolve to actually sleep at night in the days it will take me to read the book. I have a little baby and a job and I need to take it easy and take my time. Rushing thru will only lead to me skimming over important things and also being a zombie at work. It's more important to stay healthy than get to the end. I mean Journey before Destination, right? Alright kicking it out to you all. What do you wish of WoR and yourself in 2014?
  11. Read again, She says NEXT week . Probly going to be a dry week for WoR news after this. Anyone else find it interesting that Whelan struggled with the Kaladin cover (3 attempts), but then knocks this one out of the freaking PARK! I'm sure having InkThinker helping out couldn't have hurt.
  12. Yeah , they're really going all out on Stormlight Archive, which is super exciting. I think now that WoT is done it's their current flagship series!
  13. It looked to me like a glove poking out from under her sleeve. PS> I love that cremling!
  14. That's just Sadeas smoldering over Dalinar being appointed Highprince of War.
  15. Tor just posted this saying it's the endpaper art for WoR. Does this mean that the KR Table and "Voidbinding Stained Glass" are not permanent for all SA books? This is totally beautiful. Kind of wish it was the cover. Tho Action Jackson Kaladin is growing on me. There's a lot of cool Double Eye of the Almighty imagery on her boots and satchel (and you can see a hint of that safe-hand!.. tho it's gloved as well )
  16. I believe he does have free will and fulfills the wishes of the Oathstone holder out of honor.
  17. I got turned on to the board game Small World by Days of Wonder really big this year. It's the first game they played in the YouTube show TableTop with Wil Wheaton. It's a really fantastic game with a lot of great artwork and simple fantasy tropes represented as a Risk! style game that doesn't go on forever and has tremendous replay value and a deep strategy aspect. I normally play it with my work friends at lunchtime but I now have a whole new way to play. They recently had a Kickstarter to expand their improved app to Android tablets as well as iOS and the Android. It's finally out and the App is fantastic! It makes the game super accessible to newbies and has a very slick UI. If anyone has the app and wants to play my Days of wonder username is AGRooster and if you start a game with me I'm down. Any other favorite board games or board game apps? I think that tablets have really revitalized some board games for the newer generations tho sometime cardboard is KING!
  18. So I have a 3 month old baby who is fighting a few bugs right now. My wife wanted to prop up the crib to help her breathing and went to our bookshelves.... This horrified me because I know she's looking for thick books, and lo and behold the first thing she grabs was my first edition WoK. I quickly thought on my feet and told her that since there's no other book that thick it'll be uneven since we'll need two books to prop up the ends... Assisting in the book search we happily settled upon her twilight books (whew). Does anyone else have any unorthodox uses for the WoK hardcover or unorthodox uses you've managed to avoid?
  19. Booooooooo! (you're being a wrestling bad guy right) Boooooooo!
  20. The cultivation thing would help explain why Wyndle thought a master gardener was a more suitable bond candidate.
  21. This topic has been thoroughly hijacked... and I LOVE IT!
  22. Thanks to everyone. You're pretty much confirming my expectations. I think I'll keep it to one every few months with buffer books in between.
  23. So I started reading the Wheel of Time on audiobook a few years ago and burned out. I ripped thru from Eye of the World to Fires of Heaven in about 3 months. I loved Shadow Rising but really kinda was getting bored by Fires of Heaven so i took a break... For two years.. I just got around to firing up Lord of Chaos which I ended up really liking. Looking at Goodreads and stuff it looks like there's nothing but crap ahead for 4 or books until Brandon starts to hit his stride in ToM. Is it worth it? I'm thinking of doing one every 6 months or so to not burn out, but I've heard advice do skip Winter's Heart entirely from some people and other weird advice like that. Help, I'm at a Crossroads! What is the best way to consume the "bad half" of the Wheel of Time? (note that I did enjoy LoC so if the next few ooks are really just more of the same of that I'll be good)
  24. Is anyone else having trouble with the Steelhunt Vault? It seems to only display the Lift interlude right now. Anyone else having this issue? I cleared my cookies and it didn't seem do alleviate the issue.
  25. Thanks I'll update this as people say my original ones are crap or add new good ones.
