  1. Since I'm at Misting level (again! The new member titles really nerf us back a bit!) I'd just like to say I'm a Lurcher. When I get to Twinborn (I assume that is one of the titles in my future) I'm going with Lurcher/Sparker, okay?

  2. Granted. The horse is too small to ride, but okay as a companion I guess. And you get an endless supply of Caramel Cake, and a Caramel Cake Allergy as your Curse. You also grow a finger out of your left nipple; since you asked for two boons, you get two Curses. I want Regional Pricing brought to an end.

    Destroy Evil

Rubix beat me to it a bit, but I did a keyword search for "things" in the PDF... and it was quite enlightening... All commands containing the word "Things" Pages 454-456 is key, but also kind of long. You might want to skip. Even more important explanations on Page 462 The talk about the Many War segues nicely into their motivations and expectations in creating Nightblood. Yes Outis, it seems they were that naive in thinking "Destroy (General) Evil" would work. But given their limited knowledge of Biochroma, this is perhaps understandable. Page 204 Page 314 Honestly Outis, I don't think they were thinking of a specific evil. Page 204 certainly suggests that they were thinking more about protecting what is good than destroying what is evil... and Vasher seems to conflate those concepts. I really think they were thinking, as some have suggested, that there is evil in the world, and that they didn't really think through what they were creating (which is to say, they didn't think through the implications of creating a weapon to destroy evil, like you have, "kill the white CEO's" etc). Indeed, perhaps Nightblood's personality would have a clearer sense of evil if Shashara had had a clearer sense of what she'd thought of as evil. But then, I think that's the point. I think that Shashara was trying to make her focus as generic as possible (to, as some have suggested, ensure maximum utility) which actually would have taken far more effort given the nature of visualizing the command as explained above. I suspect it would have been far easier to create a sword with the command "Destroy Americans" than "Destroy Evil". Yes "Destroy Americas" isn't exactly concrete either, there are still vagueries... but far less vagueries than "Destroy Evil". That Shashara pulled it off is a testament to her skill. The best literary analogy I can think of to explain the seeming irrationality of Shashara and Vasher's approach is Frankenstein. Why did Frankenstein create life? To see if he could (much as king of nowhere suggested). LAST EDIT, I PROMISE: It's interesting to note that we're coming at this through Vasher's perspective... but the fact that Shashara used Nightblood in battle and was planning on giving away the secret suggests that she, at least, considered Nightblood a success.
  4. detnarG. er'uoY na munimulA tanG. I hsiw rof ymehcureF.
  5. Blast it! You're right! I was so excited about the curse that I forgot all about the boon!
  6. Granted! You have Spooky Scherzo playing on repeat in your head for the rest of your life at a volume just loud enough to be annoying, and with no way to drown it out. Additionally, if you're not focused directly on it the people around you can hear it too, potentially alienating everyone who's ever loved you! Enjoy your doughnut!
  7. Bahahahaha! Now that Kobold is the one who posted next I can post my terrifying response! The Only Joe! All the curses are erased, and replaced with the exact same curse but twice as bad! And as Kobold needs a curse for being next, here it is: You lose your brony-hood, and may never regain it. I wish for a time machine.
  8. Granted, but the Nightwatcher uses your family's life-force to pad out her power long enough to grant you three out of the first twenty curses in this forum (roll 3 d20s!) I wish my conference paper was already done.
  9. Granted: http://www.despair.com/wishes.html I wish for gender equality.
  10. Darn, it's not free for Australians. Racism!
  11. Granted. You have unlimited internet access for an instant (and no access at all after that instant). EDIT: I won't post a wish since there are still wishes outstanding by the look of it. EDIT 2: Also, unless I'm mistaken Colby Jack was originally responding to the wish before it, which means my post actually made sense before he edited his post. The game should continue with Colby Jack's independent woman wish.
  12. Sex appeal in a Duralumin-Atium alloy. Sex drive in an Aluminum-Atium alloy.
  13. Have you read the 'Body Pocket' stunt yet in the Kandra section of the MAG manual?
  14. Why?! Why?! Because some Evil Overlords have the sense not to share this kind of wisdom with everyone in order to maintain an edge! Aaaaah! Do you know how many times I've gone to share this and then been like... "Nah, better not. Might need to conquer the world, and if I share the advice therein I'll lose the advantage." (In all seriousness, it's awesome, isn't it?! I saved a backup a couple of years ago because I was worried the site would be taken down).
  15. Wicked! Sorry to pull you away from whatever you were doing... I hope I wasn't too pushy.
  16. The Push and Pull pages are correct in text, but the sidebar has Push listed as a Lurcher and Pull listed as a Coinshot. I'd have fixed it myself, but I can't work the fancy Wiki-magic. It's not pressing or anything; don't push yourself, or pull an all-nighter to get it fixed...
  17. Any ideas as to how to solve this? I keep encountering old posts of his/hers. It must have taken a fair bit of effort to mod all his/her posts to "-"... my curiosity is driving me mad Vash! Mad I say! Excellent! I can stop using he/she. Aetae/Ete'ni is a girl. (Source) EDIT: Wow, cool. If you click the return arrow on the quote it takes you to the modern version of the site in which she's changed it to "-", but I was quoting from http://www.shardlabs.net/forum/topic/4446-4th-mistborn-trilogy/page-2#entry75415 which is apparently the old site, and has the unedited version. This means we can read what she wrote originally. Perhaps one of her posts will have the answer to this mystery. I hope this isn't going to be one of those Oedipus things where I discover a horrible truth and gouge my own eyes out as a moral lesson into not obsessively digging into mysteries...
  18. Actually Forging is also tied to the landscape, and it too weakens... Source
  19. I know what you mean... turn all their armor into acid... because the armor is solid and the acid is a liquid, the acid sprays everywhere, everyone's armor becomes an acid bomb. Ranged Soul-casting is brutal. Hell, it seems like Soul-casting would be a hard-counter to both Miles and the Lord Ruler. Lord Ruler/Miles: I can regenerate from any injury! I am a god! Jasnah: That's nice. You're now made of bat faeces. Or whatever...
  20. I would have thought Elsecallers would have been the most common, mainly because they're clearly the best (I mean, because I'm biased in their direction). Of the attributes, it is my opinion that Elsecaller, Truthwatcher and Lightweaver fit me the best, though sometimes only tenuously. I'd also like an order with Soulcasting so I can make metal to burn Allomantically (without having people on various planets asking me why I keep buying metal bars, and what I'm doing with them...) Can't Lurch without my Iron!
  21. Thank you Moogle! Ha! I'm not crazy! Or rather, this isn't evidence that I'm crazy!
  22. Are you allowed to pick being a Twinborn for your Scadrial ability? So, forgoing full Allomantic or Feruchemical ability in favour of just one of each?
  23. Part 1. Source: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=618#61 There's more, but I have to go find it. EDIT 1: This isn't what I was looking for... I was sure there was something about the metals coming back into the world somehow... I'll keep looking... Source: http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt=%27scadrial%27 and http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2383-qa-with-brandon-sanderson/?p=42470 EDIT 2: Can't find it. Assume I am incorrect about the existence of a WoB regarding metals coming back into the world until further notice.
