  1. They're talking about the Dutch profiterole space program.

    I... I just can't even.

  2. I'd also like to request admittance; also, robes of an unconventional shade, for an unconventional method of killing.
  3. The info on the Kholin lines of inheritance? Probably. But even though I just reread it, I probably missed it. And, for names, I was thinking about a few variations on something like Keleb. Such as Keled, Keleth, Keledar, or Kelethar. I like the association with Kalak (a la Shallan and Shalash), but I don't know if he's the most appropriate namesake, thematically at least. Also, I like the alliteration and rhythm of pairing those names with "Kholin". I do like that suggestion, though.
  4. Things like this are the reason I posted it here. Thanks!
  5. I think "Shut up and take my money" summarizes this pretty well, actually.
  6. I put this topic here even though this case specifically relates to the Stormlight Archive. Feel free to move, mods, if I've been a massive dork. Okay. So. As you may or may not know, while I go by Slowswift here on the Shard, I tend towards TheOtherKholin everywhere else. At first, it was just a name: the Kholins are pretty cool people (with maybe a couple of exceptions); who wouldn’t want to be associated with them? But, for the sake of a proper beginning, we’ll say it’s a reference to (WoK Prime spoilers) But then I got thinking. What if there were actually other Kholins? And so I wrote this, after taking a look at my NaNoWriMo page and deciding that I needed to freshen up my author bio there. This is still an early draft. I'm coming here to the Shard for help because I want this to be more than some half-cremmed backstory for a bad OC, though I don't plan on writing any fanfic with this (yet). Also, I've left the [name] brackets in because I have yet to make a final decision on his name, though I do have some ideas. So, if y'all have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them.
  7. Somewhat late to the party, but: Happy birthday, @Kaymyth!
  8. My USB drive is not showing up on my computer, and I am in a mild state of panic.
  9. Absolutely brilliant bird pictures!
  10. Sorry. Collective Soul is my favorite band. Just, ah, awkwardly attempting to carry on conversation.
  11. I'm fine with doing more meetings -- like Sunbird, I can't guarantee I'll make them all, but I think it could be fun.
  12. Or an Awakener. Life Sense would be particularly useful in this situation.
  13. I eat too much plain Nutella to be healthy anyways. It's actually refreshing to use as directed for once.
  14. PSA: Adding heaps of Nutella is a great way to choke down stale bread.
  15. I will also add my voice and say that Coldplay is the second-best band in existence.
  16. I believe it was made of wood. Don't have my copy of WoK with me so I can't provide a specific reference, but I'm pretty sure on that.
  17. I had to copy/paste into a blank document and open as an HTML file to read it properly (which was perhaps unnecessary, but the tags were bugging me). Thanks for bringing this over here! It's something I'd been rather interested in.
  18. Out of context quote for the day:

"Don't nail flags to cats without considering the consequences."

    1. Extesian

      Extesian

      Wisdom of the Heralds

    2. Tesh

      Tesh

      That's a nice quote...

      ^_^

  19. That song about made me cry with happiness -- finally! A Chainsmokers song I can like! And it's got Coldplay! Have you heard the live version off of Coldplay's new EP?
  20. My work had to put up signs on the fridges expressly forbidding eating others' food. Their necessity appalls me.
  21. Deseret Industries, place of amazingly cheap prices and bad scheduling. I actually used to work on the dock, and we'd always grumble at having to go help other areas after we'd finished -- we had our own job to do, after all, not our fault they've got such crappy time management, and when was the last time they helped us out? But now that I work on the sales floor, I see just how necessary it is and how stupid that attitude is. That does sound horrifically stressful.
  22. Heh. Just made a rant about this in another thread. Suffice it to say, I know the feel.
