  1. Nightblood vs. Odium, who wins?
  2. Interesting idea. What if he uses it on Taln?
  3. Actually, I think Navani mentions that the ardents usually prescribe a small penance or fine for visiting the Nightwatcher. I think it's in TWoK when they're discussing the Nightwatcher as a possible source of Dalinar's visions. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's any mention of Dalinar receiving any punishment for his visit.
  4. Maybe I've read too many comic books over the years, but I never thought she was actually dead.
  5. I'm really liking the idea of Navani being Q from the Bond franchise.
  6. I really want to know what's up with Malata. Speaks Veden Wears "Thaylen merchant clothing" and two gloves Seems to know something about what happened to the Radiants Claims she is not bound to Taravangian Is she Thaylen? I can't find any mention of her eyebrows. Her speech patterns don't seem very Thaylen. If she is Thaylen, where did she learn to speak Veden? If she isn't Thaylen, where did she come from? Did she actually use Taravangian to get to Urithiru, or is she trying to hide her status as a Diagramist? What's up with her gloves and weird hair? Does she actually know what didn't work out for the Radiants last time, or was that just idle chat? So much that I want to know!
  7. I'm almost certain that happened. From OB ch 4: and ch 11: My personal theory is that Rathalas takes Evi hostage and rebels against the Kholins. Something happens, and Dalinar goes nuts and destroys the entire city and all its inhabitants.
  8. Will there be red, black, blue, yellow, and pink light rangers? WILL THEY GET ZORDS!?! I certainly hope not. I hope that voidbinding offers something that some people would find tempting. I don't find a permanent state of mindless rage. I want the bad guys to make decisions that make sense for a rational-but-misguided person. Deciding to give up your mind in order to become a rage monster? I can't see that as a rational decision. If Odium is playing the long game, when events occur will be just as important as what events occur. Stashing an Unmade in Urithiru could easily be part of the plan. Luckily there's a Radiant lurking around Bridge 4 with access to the Progression surge.
  9. They most certainly do. Alethi characters have described Makabaki peoples as dark-skinned. That is a clear differentiation of race based on skin color. They should. People on Roshar (except for the Shin) are supposed to have epicanthic eye folds, so they should appear more Asian.
  10. I didn't remember it, but from what I can find, he said it to Shallan while she was disguised as Veil. It will be interesting to see if he has the same opinion of a shardbearer. Not that he won't have animosity towards Kaladin but Amaram may not view him as a darkeyes anymore. In any case, the point of yours which I was questioning was in regards to how charges brought against Kaladin by Amaram would be viewed. I'd say that Amaram is a different case. He may hold that a "darkborn" shardbearer isn't worth of the 4th dahn, but I don't think that will be a common sentiment. If Amaram accuses Kaladin, I think most of the Alethi nobility will see a full shardbearer challenging a Radiant who publicly claimed the shardbearer stole the blade and plate and think, "Maybe let's skip this one. Let's see how it pans out before picking a side."
  11. Comparing the two figures to the images of the Heralds... the man looks like either Jezrien (without the crown) or Ishar (with a beard trim and without the baldness), but the woman doesn't seem to fit any of the images.
  12. He has a shardblade/shardspear/Sylblade/whatever. That officially makes him a lighteyes of the 4th dahn.
  13. WoR, I-4 (pg 197 in US Kinde version)
  14. I believe the most obvious answer is that Malata is both a Releaser and a member of the Diagram. We've seen true spren be attracted to humans who embody the ideals of the spren's Order. Kaladin is a protector and a leader; he attracted an honorspren. Shallan is creative; she attracted a liespren. Dalinar is trying to unite Roshar; he's becoming a Bondsmith. We know via WoB (link, question 3) the Dustbringers would be happy with Adolin's murder of Sadeas. If we assume they're like Adolin's action it because they're type of people who would pull the lever in the trolley problem (and I see no other way to reconcile approval of murder with the First Oath), we can assume they would approve of the Diagram's actions. So, in my mind, while an honorspren as bonding with Kaladin, a Cryptic was rebonding with Shallan, and Dalinar was wooing the Stormfather, there was a Releaser spren* wooing a Diagramist. I assume Mr T saw this as a possibility, was on the lookout for a budding Dustbringer in his ranks, and that's how he found Malata. * - Side note, I really hope the Releaser spren are called BOOMspren.
  15. I've taken 11/14 through 11/17 off of work. I'm going to start reading OB from where the preview chapters end... but I also plan on reading the entire thing a second time in that week, so maybe that's the same as rereading the preview chapters?
  16. Don't really have time to find it right now (supposed to be working), but I think there's a WoB that the new rhythms aren't actually "new," they're the same rhythms just colored by Odium's influence. Like the Rhythm of Anticipation becomes the Rhythm of Craving.
  17. I bet we see Dalinar tell the Nightwatcher this. Yeah, the painrial theory just ratcheted up quite a bit for me.
  18. I think that's almost a given. The highstorms have variable timing, so it makes sense the Everstorm would as well.
  19. I imagine that the yellow spren wants to gather an army before transforming them. Small groups are easier to defeat. If they all show up in one location (e.g. Kholinar) and transform together, they will have an army instead of a squad.
  20. My personal theory is that the ability for a spren to choose and its sapience can be tied to the Shard. If the Vessel is alive, s/he has final say in whether or not a bond may occur and can also affect how sapient the spren is. This would explain a number of things: Ability for listeners to form Nahel bonds. It wasn't done traditionally according to WoB. Under this theory, that means that Honor didn't allow his Splinters to bond with listeners. With Tanavast dead, each Splinter of Honor can make the choice who they will bond. Additionally, with Rayse alive, it's his choice who the voidspren bonds. Sapience of various types of spren. Any spren which is partly Honor will have a harder time transitioning to the PR. They'll be missing part of a Connection which grants them intelligence. As the Nahel bond strengthens (e.g. more oaths are made), the spren gains a stronger Connection, and thus regain their intelligence. Voidspren, on the other hand, have an undamaged Connection to Odium and, thus, can transition to the PR without losing sapience. Dearth of subspren in many of Dalinar's visions. Until Honor was shattered, the only spren with existed were those which could form Nahel bonds. After Honor was shattered, some of his power was pushed out of the SR in a manner similar to (but not exactly like) what Odium did to Dominion and Devotion. This resulted in small Splinters which could transition from CR to PR; however, in the PR, they lack a Connection to a mind in the PR, so they are not sapient. These would be the all the different types of subspren we see.
  21. If Jasnah shows up in Urithiru, she'll probably be able to deal with an Unmade.
  22. How great would a discussion between Ham and Szeth be?
  23. Taking a kandra's spikes isn't an easy task, Bavadin has made Taldain inaccessible (at least currently), and Yolen? Mraize clearly has skills. Onto Patji. We've only seen the island from the PoV of Sixth of the Dusk, a man with very primitive technology. Vathi was able to kill a nightmaw with her portable harpoon-cannon, and she didn't seem like she had much in the way of survivalist training. Mraize, on the otherhand, has been pretty clear on his status as a hunter. I would not be surprised to find out he likes going to hunting expeditions to other worlds (cosmere safari, anyone?).
  24. It's also really, really unlikely that one person would have an aether, a branch from Yolen, kandra spikes, a lock of Idrian royal hair, and sand from dayside Taldain (am I forgetting anything?). BUT if anyone could have all of those, they could probably have an Aviar from First of the Sun.
  25. I actually have the opposite opinion. With all the cosmere items that Mraize has, it makes me think Radiants and Voidbringers are the ones who need help keeping up.
